Yes sadly that video was perhaps not quiet as clear as it could have been???
Usually only three (3) wires on an auto car aerial unit. (again I say usually??) Ground wire, usually black (there's that word again) & connect it to a metal part of the trunk or in New Zealand we call it "The Boot".
Acquire a continual Power feed (always live) from within the vehicles system & connect this power lead (preferably via an in-line fuse for safety) to the usually red wire of the aerial unit. Finally & it's normally a single colour blue wire that originates from the rear of the radio. This blue wire is also a 12 volt power feed & when you go to turn the radio on it automatically sends power & triggers the aerial along this blue wire & whilst the radio is on (running) it contiues to hold power into the aerial. Switch the radio off & the previously live blue cable now has no power running through it so it collapses the aerial & it simply goes down!! This is a basic setup!! Just be aware that if you cannot find the vehicles original "blue wire" that originated from the rear of the radio unit which in turn is used to activate the aerial, you may need to run another power wire from behind your radio to the aerial unit in your trunk or wherever it is located. It is very easy to put a manual up/down switch into the system if you don't want the aerial working automatically but that's another story!!
Believe it or not I am this very day connecting my brand new & very fancy radio & electric aerial that Santa gave me for Xmas (because I was good little boy) & as far as the installation of the aerial goes, I've used exactly the very same wiring system I've just mentioned & the bugger is working fine for me!! Read this rabble a number of times to get it into your mind so it becomes clear as mud!! (yeah right) I'm a certified computer tech but computers are boring & cars are much more interesting for sure!!
