For those who don't understand the Rebellion mechanics: It's possible to damage an enemy's ship(s) in battle and render them unable to recharge shields, escape into hyperspace, fight back, or even move, not to mention severely damage their hulls. It takes time for a damaged ship in Rebellion to repair itself. So, in all likelihood, what you're looking at here is two heavily-damaged Imperial warships (probably from many grueling battles), the last remnants of the once-mighty Imperial Starfleet. The Rebels, seeing that the Imperial Fleet is just a quick strike away from destruction, decide to send in a small task force to finish the job, and it's easy because the Imperial ships have already sustained heavy damage.
Even better, there are ships that straight up ensure right from the get-go that there is no retreats for the enemy using gravity wells to give them the bird for THINKING to run.
I don't see how a Super Star Destroyer can be easily destroyed by a Mon Calamari Battle Cruiser and a Tantive IV. In the movie, it showed an A-Wing flying into the bridge, which caused it to loose it its stabalizers and crash into the the Death Star II. Here, it looks like it went down to easily
Always take me so long since I hide in the outer systems building up and researching before launching any major attacks, but it makes it so much more satisfying once I finally destroy the Galactic Empire
Well an SSD is desinged to fight other capital ships, not so much against fighters. If you read the novel part IV, when Akbar says "Concentrate all firepower on that Super Star Destroyer" Five Mon Cals plus 120 Rebel fighter attack the Executor. Two Mon Cals and a number of fighters are taken out before the one A-Wing hits the bridge.
I agree. Nothing is more satisfying than building massive fleets of Star Destroyers and conquering the entire galaxy! :D (And blowing up rebel fleets with the Death Star).
Well, let's not forget the awesome power of those two medium transports ;-) I wonder why they didn't do something a bit more like the Empire loses cutscene, with at least three cruisers. Plus, I've never yet won as the rebels and faced an Empire that got far enough to deploy SSDs
For those saying the SSD would not be destroyed so easily I would suggest viewing the ending of X-Wing vs TIE Fighter Balance of Power Campaign - Rebel Victory, once the shields were out, a Corvette went on a suicide mission on to the SSD bridge and then a few B-wings launched a couple of rockets to take out the SSD. In this video, the two Medium transports probably did the same thing and rammed straight in to the 2 Imperial capital ships?
@JediElderNishmo Not exactly, during Empire win cutscene we see the Corvette crushed by the surprise attack, but the Mon Calamari Cruiser start to fire back at the first Star Destroyer, but when they appear quickly the other two, the Mon Cal is overwelmed by concentrate firepower and probably because gunners were busy to keep track of new incoming targets.
@girlgarde the ships from the Empire were not originally expected to fight ships of the same size, and were originally meant for planetary bombardment. Plus they were arrogant enough to put bridge shield generators (the globes the fighters blew up) in such an obvious place. In Return of the Jedi, when Admiral Ackbar commands Lando to get inside you can clearly see a Star Destroyer explode in a head to head with a Mon Calamari Cruiser. Also, up close (as Lando suggests) the SSDs can't do as much
@Lorddemonicus More like one of them models you glue together ...except someone may have forgotten to aply the glue to this one! Kind of drags the game down a notch!
Not to mention the super star destroyer burst open like a ripe fruit. A massive space cruiser like that you'd think would be able to build safeguards in the superstructure to prevent fracturing.
You know... that is one of the most logical ideas I have heard about it.. They are either the local area projectors for the Bridge Shields or a chain reaction from them exploding knocks out the bridge shields.
I am a fan o the old schoold as well. Especially Zhan. I am also a collector of SW hasbro stuff. Just got an order today from Hong Kong of five AT At pilots. I thin bk they are from the OTC line, anyway they are late model figures. Do you collect Star Wars stuff ?
Best games ever made for star wars. This Empire at War Battlefront 1,2, & Renegade and Elite Squadrons. Knights of the Old Republic 1 and 2 The Old Republic. Halo and Call of Duty got nothing compared to these classics!
I love this game and have been replaying it since its release. Did anyone notice the blooper at :30-34 where the 3 X-Wings shoot out the right shield generator, then the left one fades away after the right explodes? Then later at :45 the left generator is back...
Indeed it is cool, perhaps it is the disproportion about forces engaged: in the Empire FMV we see 3 star destroyers outgun the Rebel cruiser and a nimble corvette, while we see in Rebel FMV we see the same Rebel cruiser with 2 wing squadron defeat a Super Star Destroyer (20 times as size and firepower compared to normal Star destroyer) and a normal Star Destroyer; the first one is near realistic (3 vs 1), the seond looks like an exageration 21 vs 1,5)
And what help would that be? Ignoring the fact the SSD and ISD seems to be for some reason shieldless, since the fighters and bombers managed to destroy the sensor globes without the shields stopping them.
With the correct precision (like going for the shield generators) the MC40 calamari cruiser would definately be a match for the star destroyer, however, as for the super star destroyer, thank god the rebellion had y-wings to disable their weapons :D
the prefect game would be, put EAW's graphics and land battle aspect, into Rebellion. I still play rebellion, it just rocks :)nothing like seeing the concstruction bar being filled on your shipyards :)
sniper4satan This fleet probably didn't have any shipyard left to repair at. If they were damaged in numerous prior battles, they probably had reduced shielding, weapons batteries, and engines. They may have even beaten back heavy Rebel forces, but couldn't leave because the hyperdrives can be damaged and disabled in the game. At this point, the Rebellion likely had control over the 199 systems, anyway. Whatever the scenario, both winning endgames were fun to watch in the 90s.
LOL 1 calamari, 2 transport 1 corvette and a dozen or so fifhters vs 1 SSD and 1 SD.... yeah the empire would deff loose that fight. Still an awesome game and great cutscenese for its age.
to be fair those shields could've been penetrated by focused fire on a single place (were the A-wings using consussion missiles or lasers i dunno). Arguing for the other side lulz also been reading the SWTC :P
i agree no doubt but remember that by then they had like no resourses or anything so probably they were in pretty bad shape or nothing. either way by the time the empire looses they were pretty crappy at the end.
Don't worry, their are plenty of old school SW fans who have read the novels and played video games that know where I'm comming from. You reading any of the SW Rebellion minor vicories comics ?
1:00 Poor destruction animation as the SUper Stardestroyer looks more like one of them plastic models breaking apart because some genious forgot the glue...
@Lndmk227 Perhaps. Otherwise, the Executor would have destroyed that small Rebel Fleet by itself. Even so, why didn't the Imperial ships fight back? Even damaged ships should be able to do something!
Probably not, because you know where the Imperial shipyards are and have a blockade around the ones you didn't sabotage or conquer. Me, I ran the game a few extra hundred days and found Thrawn leading a Super with 12 Defenders. It was fun cracking that one open.
Great strategy game. You people have to realize this is just a dramatization... I will agree they should've done a better job of this but oh well. I play it for the strategy aspect not the lil cutscenes at the end.
This game ending REALLY sucks The super-stardestroyer blows up in sections like one off those friggin modelship kits! Unlike the imperial victory-ending were the rebel cruiser actually blows up in pieces as should the stardestroyers(bad realism)!!!
For those who don't understand the Rebellion mechanics: It's possible to damage an enemy's ship(s) in battle and render them unable to recharge shields, escape into hyperspace, fight back, or even move, not to mention severely damage their hulls. Plus SSD’s suffer from Trench Run Syndrome.
What you described sounds a lot like empire at war but with persistent damage instead of repairing after every fight
@@thebottlerocket4100 You're not far off the mark there.
*Rebels attack the Collectors in force*
2:10 And of course no First Order as it never existed in the canon...
This scene felt so good playing as them. Victory!
After Endor, Admiral Ackbar learnt of a powa much stronger than The Force:
the powa of The Trap.
For such an old game these cutscenes are pretty good.
Riiiiight. A single Calamari Star Cruiser took out one ISD and a SSD.... *rolling the eyes*
Those Y-wings would have been chewed up by the SSD surface guns before they even had a shot at the shield towers🤣
ah.....that was the "Home One" a battle ship like the MC-80
I don't see how a Super Star Destroyer can be easily destroyed by a Mon Calamari Battle Cruiser and a Tantive IV. In the movie, it showed an A-Wing flying into the bridge, which caused it to loose it its stabalizers and crash into the the Death Star II. Here, it looks like it went down to easily
In the Rebellion game ships retain battle damage, so these could be the remnants of a haggard and beaten Imperial fleet
Always take me so long since I hide in the outer systems building up and researching before launching any major attacks, but it makes it so much more satisfying once I finally destroy the Galactic Empire
One funny thing I noticed is, the small icons for planetary defense and factories in Rebellion were re-used in EAW.
Well an SSD is desinged to fight other capital ships, not so much against fighters.

The Super Star Destroyer blowed up like it was made by LEGO.... XD
Well, let's not forget the awesome power of those two medium transports ;-)
I wonder why they didn't do something a bit more like the Empire loses cutscene, with at least three cruisers. Plus, I've never yet won as the rebels and faced an Empire that got far enough to deploy SSDs
I call shenanigans! The SSD could wipe out that rebel force on half-power!
I like the execution of those scenes, they have a real feel to the original trilogy's effects, save some explosions.
Mon Calamari Cruiser. Home One-class
Looks like that Stardestroyers aren't what they used to be. ;)
go rebels whoooo
@JediElderNishmo

since they won they should be now called the leader allience or something
the round spheres are sheild generators, They say it in episode VI
You know... that is one of the most logical ideas I have heard about it..
They are either the local area projectors for the Bridge Shields or a chain reaction from them exploding knocks out the bridge shields.

This
Empire at War
Battlefront 1,2, & Renegade and Elite Squadrons.
Knights of the Old Republic 1 and 2
The Old Republic.
Halo and Call of Duty got nothing compared to these classics!
Yay. Leia, I want my medal.
Thanks for the video.
Very, Very true, the Chimaera plus a couple of support ships could have pulled off a vicory under Thrawn adn Pelleon !
heard that idea as well.
@Legoghost14 Don't forget Republic Commando.
@ubeaste Anyone can have a bad day at the office or in the rebels case, a one in a billion lucky shot.
Notice how in both defeat endings you are blamed for the defeat, but in the victory endings you aren't even mentioned.
I love this game and have been replaying it since its release. Did anyone notice the blooper at :30-34 where the 3 X-Wings shoot out the right shield generator, then the left one fades away after the right explodes? Then later at :45 the left generator is back...
@CommanderNova1 oh right, how'd that escape my mind? Good God...
Pretty sure an SSD can take a leeeeeeeeetle bit more punishment than that.
And what help would that be? Ignoring the fact the SSD and ISD seems to be for some reason shieldless, since the fighters and bombers managed to destroy the sensor globes without the shields stopping them.
Are you sure? Most sources claim that these are shield generators.
@JediElderNishmo More likely, they were caught with their pants down while in the john when the attack started.
Happy End! woooo!
Of Course, you'd love it. Then again, so do I
Hi Rebel Fleet Trooper
With the correct precision (like going for the shield generators) the MC40 calamari cruiser would definately be a match for the star destroyer, however, as for the super star destroyer, thank god the rebellion had y-wings to disable their weapons :D
Why is it that in the movies it takes forever for executor to blow up, but now after a few shots it gets demolished?
Great. When they finally decide to add a Super Star Destroyer, it has to blow into pieces.. :\
If i tried in game to use Home One and a corvette of all things against a SSD and SD id be clearly stuffed.
Guys, guys, why the arguing? Can't ya just sit back and enjoy the cutscene?
Two words: Rebel Sabotage.
it's more like ~27 calamari cruisers and hundreds of other rebel cap ships
the prefect game would be, put EAW's graphics and land battle aspect, into Rebellion.
I still play rebellion, it just rocks :)nothing like seeing the concstruction bar being filled on your shipyards :)
they were surprised/caught with shield down I believe
Is that a Bulkwark battle cruiser that destroys the Super Star Destroyer, or is it just a Mon Calamari cruiser?
time for a shielding upgrade they got trashed by fighters
sniper4satan This fleet probably didn't have any shipyard left to repair at. If they were damaged in numerous prior battles, they probably had reduced shielding, weapons batteries, and engines. 1:00 Poor destruction animation as the SUper Stardestroyer looks more like one of them plastic models breaking apart because some genious forgot the glue...
Autobots roll out!
lol one of the ISD's shield generators disappears at 0:34 and at 0:45 it's back.
That's because they took down the shield generator above the bridge!!!!
hmm.. very few shots came out of the SSD?? I thought the thing is suppose to have over a 1000 guns O.o
nice break up of the SSD there.
Even now there may be a new dark power rising...
MESA JAR JAR BINKS!!!
@KODAKCAR4 they are bombers but yeah i like y wings to
@Lndmk227
Perhaps. Otherwise, the Executor would have destroyed that small Rebel Fleet by itself. Even so, why didn't the Imperial ships fight back? Even damaged ships should be able to do something!
I'm mortified to say that I get the analogy :(
The other cinematic had 3 ISDs destroy the Home one......
new dark force rises 30 years later.
and Tantive IV remember(lol)
Um no, these are cutscenes... And almost all PC games except MMOs are free to play online, if they are playable online.
Eh, the Imperials have been known to miss Main Characters in SW, what if the rebels hired all main characters and sent them there? :P
@Lndmk227
Possibly. Still, it doesn't feel realistic to me to see a Super Star Destroyer get destroyed by only a few rebel ships.
If you are at the point of winning in this game, the opposition would not have a super star destroyer.
you dont know that
Probably not, because you know where the Imperial shipyards are and have a blockade around the ones you didn't sabotage or conquer.
Me, I ran the game a few extra hundred days and found Thrawn leading a Super with 12 Defenders. It was fun cracking that one open.
ROFL those rebels woulda got their asses handed to them
lol. yeah. they probably did it with the shields out or something
@ 1:05 wtf is that super star destroyer made out of lego or wat
Yeah, well... A Mon Cal Cruiser is about a million times the size of an A-wing. So that's like a louse off of said womprat killing a Rancor.
Great strategy game. You people have to realize this is just a dramatization... I will agree they should've done a better job of this but oh well. I play it for the strategy aspect not the lil cutscenes at the end.
True the game was fun but did it have to be such a poor rebel win ending?
And I agree some off the "geography was a bit wrong!
It should have been a Bulkwark.
Y-WINGS ARE THE BEST STAR WARS FIGHTERS!!! :D
This game ending REALLY sucks
The super-stardestroyer blows up in sections like one off those friggin modelship kits!
Unlike the imperial victory-ending were the rebel cruiser actually blows up in pieces as should the stardestroyers(bad realism)!!!
Hm I don't like the ending. The Rebel fleet presented here, wouldn't even pose a challenge for the Super Star Destroyer.
0:15 your all fucked!!!!
Man, the Executor would never go down like a punk.
Except, of course, in Return of the Jedi.
the SSD and the ISD didn't launch a single fighter (most likely didn't have any), and the x-wing and y-wing probably did most of the damage.
@Sandbek1973 you are just mad becaues the awesome rebels won and your crappy empire lost!
Lol the ISD just got Ion cannoned.......this is so unfair.......
The cutscene sucks. The game rules. Why didn't Empire at War do a good job? Then I wouldn't have to play Rebellion anymore! Wahhh
