I'll never forget, I was driving home on a rainy night, just listening to this song and chilling, when all of a sudden a great panic came over me. I tried to grab my Prozac and steer my car to safety, but it was no use. I passed out on the New Jersey highway and crashed. I was thrust through the windshield. Luckily I was okay, but my wife Carm was all out of the baked ziti I liked when I finally got home. Così è la vita

I remember as a child my family driving through NYC on our way to visit relatives in NJ, we got a flat tire right in the middle of 37th street. My father had to get out and change a flat with cars zooming by at a very busy time of day. When he was finished he got back into the car and my mother worriedly asked if it was fixed. He said it was and started driving forward. He started singing this song to her, she cracked up and started singing right along with him. I watched as the two of them sang this song all the way through the tunnel into New Jersey. For this reason this song is very special song indeed and is what brought me here. Thank you for sharing this video clip!

Everything about this film is so memorable, the way the actors played their characters so well you could tell they were so committed to their roles.
The Wizard Of Oz made me a fan of Hollywood's Golden Age
don't know why but this song really creeps me out
Every single singer in that song is now long dead. Their moisture's soaked into the soil and evaporated, their ashes scattered and absorbed into the earth. They're voices that will never be heard again, except played back in that one song, over and over, in recordings heard all around the world. Many of those singers will have gone before DVDs or UA-cam were even invented.

If I ever have the chance to go to Emerald City Comic Con, I'm singing this while dressed up as Dorothy.
Humming this is the only thing that got me through cleaning my horrible bathroom.
Wizard of Oz is a thinly veiled political satire about the Great Depression of the 19th Century.
- Dorothy (naïve) represents the good people.

- Auntie Em & Uncle Henry represent stalwart people, who held country together.

- Scarecrow (without a brain) represents the farmers taken advantage of.

- Tin Man (without a heart) represents the ruthless railroads taking advantage of property owners, which were mostly the farmers.

- Cowardly Lion (unable to take action) represents elected officials.

- Emerald City represents Washington D.C. - all glamor at taxpayer expense, while the country suffers.

- Oz (all allusion but no action) represents the U.S. President. Note how at the end when his balloon gets away and Dorothy yells “come back!” Oz (president) responds, “I can’t! I don’t know how it works!” i.e. one-term-useless president voted out by the people.

- Yellow Brick Road (gold bricks) represents the Gold Standard controversy of the late 19th century of switching from silver to gold. Note, in the book, Dorothy is wearing silver shoes as she treads on the gold.

- The Dark and Scary Forest (despair) represents the Great Depression.

- The Optimistic Voices song was MGM’s addition to denote people’s blind belief that the president will solve everything and the world will be good, again.

Tony Kenyon Seriously? I can name like 5 off hand far scarier. The Wizard of Oz was really just fantasy, with morbid undertones.
The wizard of oz has been so strong in my life the last 2 years after I saw myself watching the movie in a cinema in meditation I couldn’t understand and thought I was just garland as I was wearing the Ruby slippers and I watched the names coming up up at the end
But now I get it
My life played it out spiritually I’ve met all the characters and the movie is so magical spiritually Dorothy never went any where she was meditating and saw her past life and souls u meet again .
I’ve been through an horrific fake court case
The judge was the wizard !!!
And the woman who’s the witch died 2 months ago I believe has been covered up I was singing ding ding the witch is dead then
Then my mum passed I saw her all in white saying all will be ok
And top this this came up tonight when I believe this week the case and journey will be over ❤
