I am from Assam and I've visited Mumbai once and I fell in love with the amazing city it's not only the development it's the people in general. I really want Mumbai to be remain no.1 financial hub of the country. Yes it has it's problem but I am sure govt will develop and plan mumabai to be the dominant force of financial hub of not only in the country but worldwide!!!! #amchimumbai

MH needs to create a new coastal city, at least 180 km away from Mumbai. Mumbai is exhausted and nothing much can be done about it due to property rights.
what needs to happen is slum dwellers need to be relocated from MMR to places like Virar and Kasara, and gov needs to set up factories/industry parks in these areas so slum dwellers can get proper jobs

They should not develop NAIN like Navi Mumbai. They should develop it in international standards of cities in China like Shenzen, Guangzhou. Mumbai really need a city thats completely world class in terms on infrastructure, cleanliness and public transport. Even though Navi Mumbai is excellent place to live in terms of quality of living, it still isn't a match with international standards.
Exactly, Navi Mumbai is a crap. Those who don't have any sense of urbanization or international level planned city feel proud of Navi Mumbai which is not even at Medicore level compared to a tier 7 Chinese planned city.

I've been living in Nalasopara for 22 years, trust me the early city was well planned like Navi Mumbai, but as soon as people started migrating, they started making illegal slums and pockets of religious community neighborhoods which made them look very ugly. Lack of control and improper governance messed up the city and now I believe it is beyond repair. The VVMC would require spending tons of money to transform this city which is next to impossible by looking at the local goon Municipal corporation's corruption and lack of vision.

What they need to do is improve living standards in pre-existing cities, cities like Ulhasnagar and Virar are very crowded, and don't have proper infra, if they can provide proper infra in pre-established cities, it would mean that crowding in Mumbai would be less.

Navi Mumbai is nowhere as modern as Shenzhen. Why can't India invite town planners from Singapore or elsewhere to plan world-class cities like Shenzhen?
Ahmedabad to Vapi is fully developed industrial stretch. From highest Chemical production to highest Pharma production to highest textile production to Diamonds, this stretch is strong. But after Vapi in Gujarat, there is nothing till Mumbai. MH should create atleast 2 industrial zones between Mumbai & Vapi.

@@amithpai965 Pollution will happen wherever the city is built. But the fact is pollution can largely be controlled with proper planned cities. Konkan is a very good area for a large population to sustain.
Looking at the population growth projectile of India, the peak of the population will be in the year 2060 India will have population of 2 billion. It will start reducing after that. So basically to accomodate such a large population and provide a better quality of life than today, we will need to develop many more planned cities and mega cities.
Konkan will be an ideal place for one of the mega cities

There are some facts need to be corrected...
Replacement rate is 2.1 not 2.2. and India's current rate is around 1.9. So the population growth rate as reduced, however, population growth is not reduced yet. The estimated maximum population of India is 2.2 billion by 2100. I have still considered the townplanning should be done for atleast 2 billion people.
