    Tried all the SSRI's etc over last 20 Yrs and they done absolutely nothing other than mess my gut and make me a little dizzy, from Zoloft to prozac. This medication should have been offered much earlier on. I got no major side effects other than increased appetite a little morning drowsiness a few head pains early on first wk or 2 , but My body after 20yrs of painkillers and Ani depressants +Anti Anxiety meds must be more tolerant. Otherwise It appears a bit like a wonder drug for me. My head is much clearer far less Apathy. I'm getting back into the things I used to love doing. It's really underrated IMO. And after 20+ yrs on the merry go round and feeling nothing from all the others, this is the only one that appears to actually do something! Thanks for the vid.

      @@taqihaider456 Al I can say is it will help you sleep and go about your day. Compared to sleeping and doing nothing. But don't take more than prescribed as it will have opposite affect.

    I am finding that higher doses help me sleep more. 7.5mg does nothing

      Funnily enough, the smaller the dose, the better for sleep. As you increase the dose, it is more effective for depression, but it actually becomes more stimulating, and therefore, worse for sleep. Off-label, some psychiatrists are dosing up to 90mg per day, and I can confirm, higher dosing becomes extremely stimulating.

      I found the same thing, I had my dose increased and it made me even more sleepy. The higher dose was needed for me and it has definitely worked for me with anxiety

      They often do, but not always. If a patient is otherwise tolerating it, and the tiredness in the morning is mild to moderate, I'll often recommend that they wait a couple of weeks or so, to see if it does wear off (especially if it is helpful for mood/ anxiety etc). With that said, you'll want to discuss this with your provider directly, as excessive sedation can also be dangerous, and these medications need to be monitored closely by one's provider. Best, - Dr. Pagnani

      It has helped me immensely. I have had my dose increased and my anxiety is nearly gone. I was on a low dose but upping the dose for me has been great. For me no, it hasn't changed my emotions

      Thank you for your question, and I apologize for the delay! Olanzapine + Fluoxetine is a combination that tends to be used for bipolar disorder (and very treatment resistant major depressive disorder). A side effect of olanzapine (in the combination) is tiredness and it may therefore, help with sleep quite a bit. Mirtazepine (Remeron) is used for anxiety and depression (so, not for bipolar disorder) and also has sedation as a side effect (so it can help with sleep as well for some individuals). It's very important that your provider takes into consideration the specific difficulties and diagnosis that you have. Based on your evaluation, history and diagnosis, there may be a clear best option (but I unfortunately wouldn't know, without evaluating you). Thank you again for your question, and I hope hat you get the treatment that you need. Sincerely, - Dr. Pagnani

    J am starting with 3.75 mg (half of 7.5 mg) of mirtazapine for insomnia, can be this very low dosage of mirtazapine (3.75 mg) potentially sufficient for insomnia?

    • @arpadnagy1354
      @arpadnagy1354 4 місяці тому

      It can be, but 3,75mg is weak dose. Try it and if no results, increase the dose

      Thank you for your comment. I'm sorry to hear that you've been having difficulty with this. It's very important to discuss your specific circumstance with a mental health provider (and general practitioner as well) as many conditions could affect someone's ability to gain weight. 30 mg mirtazapine or 15 mirtazapine increase appetite more?

    • @RittenhousePsych
      @RittenhousePsych  Рік тому +1

      There is going to be variation between individuals, but for some, the lower doses actually cause higher degrees of sedation and increased appetite. Thank you for watching and your question! - Dr. Pagnani

      foods not to eat on mirtazapine, keeping check of what you are eating and what you aren't

      Beyond trying to keep a healthy diet, I do not generally have dietary restrictions that I recommend for patients on remeron (mirtazepine). Remeron can increase appetite, so I do discuss monitoring overall food consumption and will assess any weight fluctuations at patient visits. It can also cause dry mouth, so if patients drink more soda etc. to combat that, it will certainly cause problems. Best, - Dr. Pagnani
