@@Metzwerg74 As a certified wokist, I did not enjoy most of the Chibnall era. And while I loved Wild Blue Yonder and The Giggle up until the thing that happens, I'm ultimately against the existence of the 60th anniversary specials. But the Christmas special was a good, fun time and I'm looking forward to seeing where the series goes from here. The problem with the Chibnall era wasn't that it was woke - it's actually the least woke Doctor Who has been since at least 2005, and I would argue 1970 - it was because it was bland and badly written with no actual characters to speak of and an out of character Doctor. And there was seriously nothing significantly woke about The Church on Ruby Road. There are the people who praise everything Doctor Who no matter what, and they're wrong. But there are also people who slap the woke label on any post-2017 Doctor Who and use that to say that it's bad, and they're also wrong. And wrong in a worse way because they're being bigots about it.
Can we not do this in the replies to my comment, please? I never asked for this. For what it's worth, while I think the writing quality took a gradual dip through the Moffat era and continued doing so into the Chibnall era, I still enjoyed the show and wouldn't call it "destroyed" in any way, and I thought that while some of the choices made in the recent anniversary and Christmas specials were odd, I think they were well written again and that's what I wanted. Also, anyone who's unironically complaining about "wokeness," *especially* in as progressive a show as Doctor Who, is clearly just clowning on themselves. You don't have to like every choice made in the writing, but pinning it all on this nebulous concept of "wokeness" (a concept that has lost all meaning by this point) is absurd. Take a moment to think about what your actual problem with the writing or show is, and then think about why you feel the way you do about it. Finally, consider the best and most appropriate way to articulate those thoughts, and then make a choice about whether it's worth the trouble of posting it or not. That's all I have to say there. I'm not replying to any responses to this, by the way, just in case someone wants to have a go. I've no interest in a pointless Internet spam war.
Metzwerg74 has been hidden from the channel so any additional comments they make in the future won't be able to be seen by anyone other than them. I honestly think doctor who's expanded media coming together like this is still better than Marvel 👀🙈 (and I'm a huge fan of both). But every single time I watch these two finale episodes I cry and I think most of it is because I'm having such a good time with it. 🥰 I hope we get something similar over these next 4 years 😅
This episode fulfilled Russell's ambition to create the most jaw-dropping cliff hanger ever in Doctor Who. Given by your reaction (and the reaction of everyone watching when it was first broadcast) I think he succeeded.
Other people have said it, but I can't express how much of an *EVENT* this was in the UK. It was the biggest entertainment news in the country and even though a lot of people suspected a fake-out, the guessing game kept Doctor Who in the news all week. Matt Smith hadnt even been announced at this stage so the idea of a shock replacement was crazy.
it's a blink and you'll miss it throwback, but harriet jones says the tech for the subwave network was developed by the mister copper foundation- that's the man the doctor left on earth with a couple million pounds back in the christmas titanic episode!
Around 10 - 12 years before this I was lucky enough to spend a day at the BBC in the company of Elizabeth Sladen. We met completely randomly but ended up spending most of the day in each others company. I knew who she was, of course, from original Who having been a fan right rom the first episode. She was such a delightful person l and I treasure the memory of that day. Rest in peace dear Liz.
The payoff for four years of TV was immense. It has Torchwood, Sarah Jane, Martha, Rose, Harriet, Wilf and Sylvia, and a few more next episode. We get to see the Shadow Proclamation and the Medusa Cascade, the arcs around the lost planets, things being hidden a second out, and the bees disappearing all get explained. There is teleportation from the Sontarans, and the subwave network even makes the Master's repeating four notes.
I have to say, over the years I've kind of forgotten just how BIG this story was! It's great seeing it through your eyes and remembering. Davros became synonymous with the Daleks in the Classic Era, so it was amazing to see them resurrect him. I was a bit worried as I'd not enjoyed the new Sontarans at all... but they got this so very right. The Doctor regenerating at the end of this episode was SUCH a HUGE shock!
The scene with the paint gun was a reference to a scene that Bernard Cribbins was in when he played a different chsracter in a Dr Who film in the 60s. Only this time the trick didn't work. It's an in -joke. Yes Davros is a very old advasory.
Obligatory Infinity war before infinity war comment Hearing Jack say he's kept an eye on the Bannerman Road Gang & praising how they dealt with the Sliitheen + the Daleks say "Exterminate Torchwood!" & seeing it in the hub's doorway just hits differently, cant explain it but just scratches that whoniverse all connected itch. The regeneration was a complete suprise, like betting shops were taking proper wagers on who the new Doctor would be, but no one actually guessed correctly who Tennant would regenerate into
Can we appreciate the acting from Elizabeth Sladen in this episode? The look of terror on her face hearing the daleks was heartbreaking 😢 Waiting a week for the following episode was insane. Everyone was talking about it
1:23 I don’t know if any comments have mentioned it but we do still get milkmen here in Scotland, you have to sign up to have them delivered though. It’s lovely when people don’t steal them from your doorstep lol
Yep, Davros is a classic Who villain. Even though I was a fully grown adult when this aired, when we first hear his voice I knew instantly and literally shivered. The decades fell away and I was reminded in no uncertain terms that some part of me will _always_ be hiding behind the sofa from Davros :).
Davros is also arguably the most evil character in the show's history, at least as far as individual beings are concerned. Even The Master has some redeemable qualities, Davros has none. He's basically Space Hitler.
I love that David had no idea while filmng that Bilie was also there... so when Donna says "why dont you ask her yourself" makes my heart happy about Davids surprised happiness ....
the face david makes when the doctor sees rose for the first time after all this time Is just perfect. Shock, awe, then he has this expression of pure joy that always hits me in the feels. the happiest you see ten after she was taken away from him. Even dying in her arms on a street he smiled when he said her name. I love them so much
i think this is my favourite of your doctor who reactions so far! every emotion, every gasp at a reveal - just perfect!! i watched this live when it aired and it blew my 8 year old mind.. can’t wait for the next one! (i love all the rose/martha interactions SO much)
This is such an action-packed episode. Everyone comes back, and I still laugh at the flood of names in the opening credits. I also can't believe this was the very first episode of Doctor Who I ever saw. I knew nothing of the show, just that my math teacher was always talking about it. I remember being confused about what was going on, and I remember being terrified when the 'exterminate!' started going off. I remember really liking how funny the Doctor was and I'm positive that's what got me to backtrack and start the show from series 1 (cue me being confused why the actor was different in that series).
Something a lot of people miss, the whole thing with the 27 planets being hidden a second out of sync with the rest of the universe, well the Sontarans did the same thing with the A.T.M.O.S devices. The Doctor made a very fast and almost unintelligible comment about it when he discovers the device's secret function. It's cool that even the tiniest things in Series 4 get paid off in this finale. Something that I think later series fumbled at. Moffat certainly tried, but it would've helped if he actually wrapped up plotline instead of just piling more on top of the unresolved ones. From what I can tell, Chibnall's plans were dashed by covid and the restructuring of series 13 into what became FLUX, but yeah, there was so much set up in his era that was just never resolved or explored.
I mean, I know you're way ahead so you know what comes next, but even so it was kind of heartbreaking watching you get so broken at the end. One hell of an episode, though. Blew me away at the time.
It was kind of heartbreaking experiencing it again while editing this. lol Actually, it's been so long since I recorded this, I had forgotten that I thought we were losing David right here. I honestly don't remember how he gets out of this. So, it will be almost like watching the next episode for the first time when I go to edit it later this week.
Oh the week we had to wait when this first aired to get the conclusion was torture, at the time we hadn't even heard any announcement as to who was next and the fans were wild trying to figure out who was replacing Tennant.
The way all those little things scattered around the last 3 seasons were brought together in this episode was a masterpiece. It was big news when this was first broadcast. Fantasic start to this finale.
It’s not clear if Dalek Caan deliberately broke Davros out or if his “emergency temporal shift” somehow randomly sent him to the time war and thus somehow broke the time lock. It’s never satisfactorily explained.
6:10 that’s the great thing- The *Doctor* has “beaten the Daleks so many times.” Jack and Sarah Jane only have one *super traumatic* experience with them, each, and in both cases they left hundreds of corpses behind.
I've reacted to all of Torchwood over on Patreon. Eventually, I bring the first episode over to UA-cam to see if it performs well enough to bring them all over.
Reminds me of when my daughters were still little, we all watched TV (no internet spoilers) and life was good. So much time has passed so quickly. Meatloaf said it best - It was long ago and it was far away, and it was so much netter than it is today.
I have family in rural Washington state and they have a milkman. It’s just not as common as when I was a kid. I was always bugged by Rose here. She’s seen the doctor regenerate before. She knows it’s still him. She knew him as nine. The whole “but you can’t” bugged the heck outta me
or maybe you were just like some people, looking for excuse to be bugged by her and forgot that this is literally the first time she saw him, after years
When I was watching this with my friends, they kept putting this off because they thought 10 would die and they weren’t ready for it. I had to swear up and down he didn’t die in the finale to get them to watch it. So imagine their faces at the end of this one and mine at the start of the next 😂
The Daleks are the same. Davros made them out of his cells in the same way the Emperor did with human cells. It's just the Supreme that has pride issues.
Obviously you have seen the next episode so it is safe to say that this "regeneration" confused me as a kid. I was genuintly unsure if we would see the 11th Doctor next episode. The reason being is in the UK it is kinda impossible to avoid hearing who the next Doctor is going to be because they are cast and it makes mainline news. But I didn't hear about it because Matt Smith had yet to be cast. That is why I was confused, because I hadn't heard about someone replacing him but also... how will he get out of this?
This cliffhanger had the uk talking all week! Never have they topped it in modern who!! Very curious, what are you thinking of third doctor jon pertwee and roger delgados version of the master?
I'm really enjoying both of them! Missy is my favorite version of the Master (by far), but Roger's version is probably my second favorite so far. The 3rd Doctor is my favorite Classic Doctor so far as well. I love his sass and sarcastic remarks.
@@BritanyBinges oh brilliant! Cant wait to see these reactions. Yeh they always cast an actor for the master roughly the same age as the current doctor and have them slightly similar in personality. Like roger and pertwee are both very james bond suave like. Simm and tennant were young and very energetic, and gomez and capaldi were older, scottish and spikey attitudes 😂😂
I was surprised you stopped with a single episode, we were killing ourselves with frustration waiting for the next one & having to wait a week to see what happened.
Hey, you wanted Rose and the Doctor to reunite. Well, they reunited, happy??!! He's seeing her again as he's oknthe ground, shot!!! Doctor Who everyone!!!
This is the only "bigger is better" 2-parter I actually like from RTD. Most of his large scale finales test my patience. But this is fun and I love the scene with everyone in the TARDIS.
I agree. What the Doctor did to her never sat right with me. He's given people who've made worse decisions far more chances. I didn't like that "end" for her character, so I was glad to see her back in this.
Such a good episode. The next episode is good too but you can't see it the same again once you know what happens. Sigh when the show does that mosdirection/foreshadowing and appears in next episodes. Sigh. Eh Daleks but makes sense I guess for scale/Davros again then stuck in Classic Who. So episode 13, then some specials, Easter, autumn, Christmas and fhen S5. The Harriet Jones sub network sound effects of the drum pattern/beat. Hmm I didn't realise they put it there so early then the specials where it has more relevance. That and fhe knock 4 times part of those specials. The writers put so many details in this episode its packed. Thr writing taking a nose dive years later sigh. The amount of Mr Cooper, (think just this episode) or Magpie (lot of Magpie in certain episodes) and other references the show throws at us I always missed but realise now. I mean many Doctors is one thing but many companions like this is great rather than just 3 companions or so of Classic Who. The coming together is great, Jack can in Torchwood I think he can die due to some circumstances I forget I saw up to S4 of Torchwood, 3 was awful. Maybe I thought it up.
You finally meet Davros the creator of the Daleks to answer your question yes it something to do with classic era but I can't tell you no more than that
The second episode in a row that is one of my top 5, for many reasons. Fantastic reaction! Well you wanted to see The Doctor and Rose together again, you kind of got that here.
The moon was left behind. I assume the water was kept secure by the atmospheric shell that kept everything else safe for them. She’s ahead but when they tow the earth home and it slots back into position we see the moon still there
...But not necessarily conveniently to hand. I mean, look at the size of Rose's anti-Dalek gun! Wouldn't wanna have one of those strapped to me all through every normal working day. =:o}
Actually patrons got her to jump ahead and watch Genesis in preparation for the 50th anniversary special (she is quite far ahead of UA-cam with nuwho on Patreon)
I started watching Doctor Who in 1977, with my Doctor (Tom Baker) and I've seen every available episode more than once. I can tell you in my opinion, Sarah Jane Smith is the best companion in Classic Who, and Donna Noble is the best companion in Nuwho. Final thoughts, the only companion i hated more than Rose, i found her annoying as hell, was Adric.
I loved it. It's odd saying this now with Donna's end coming up on the channel next week, but I've always been a little upset about her ending (Don't worry, I loved episode 4x13). So, having her come back to get a new end (which I have obviously yet to see), is something I've VERY happy about.
Welcome to Davros creator of the Daleks yes he's from Classic Who but I won't tell you when or what story or what Doctor or companions because of spoilers. I have to be honest I was more excited for the Davros return than I was Rose because I've probaly already said this she was my least favourite companion it was nice to see Martha again however again I did not see the point of her being in this episode but it was also lovely to see Sarah Jane and Captain Jack even though i'm not a "Torchwood" fan and Wilf this was kind of the first Avengers infinity crossover if you will which RTD wanted to do. I will say David Tennant's regeneration in this was big news at the time people generally believed he was leaving I can say that now because I know your further ahead with the show.
Cant wait to talk about special 2,3 and also the christmas special with you also we will then both have to wait for may for ncutis first season which is also season 1 of the soft reboot. Also what do you think of the timless child?
Sort of. lol There was absolutely no way I was going to be able to avoid spoilers for her or David's return (for multiple reasons). So, it was decided that I would be intentionally spoiled by reacting to edits of 13's regeneration and the trailer for the special. The edited versions gave nothing away except that David and Catherine were coming back. The reaction to those edits is available for absolutely anyone to watch using this link: www.patreon.com/posts/doctor-who-to-94364630

Meatloaf said it best - It was long ago and it was far away, and it was so much netter than it is today.
I had to wait a week for the next episode like 15+ years ago... now I have to wait a week again for the next reaction 😭
I have family in rural Washington state and they have a milkman. It’s just not as common as when I was a kid. I was always bugged by Rose here. She’s seen the doctor regenerate before. She knows it’s still him. She knew him as nine. The whole “but you can’t” bugged the heck outta me
I think it makes more sense when you’ve seen the ‘Born again’ minisode. She had a pretty tough time adjusting to ten at first.
or maybe you were just like some people, looking for excuse to be bugged by her and forgot that this is literally the first time she saw him, after years
When 10 introduces Donna;
"Ma ho"
[GIGGLE] Naughty! =:o}
When I was watching this with my friends, they kept putting this off because they thought 10 would die and they weren’t ready for it. I had to swear up and down he didn’t die in the finale to get them to watch it.
So imagine their faces at the end of this one and mine at the start of the next 😂
The best thing is discovering who was responsible for getting the characters onto the citadel and who really destroyed the daleks
AW NO THIS IS GONNA HURT
I was surprised you stopped with a single episode, we were killing ourselves with frustration waiting for the next one & having to wait a week to see what happened.
We still have our milk delivered. Milkmen are still a thing! Although it comes in plastic rather than glass bottles nowadays.
Nah, we still get glass bottles delivered. You can order plastic ones or almost any other groceries from them aswell these days.
@@Tototoo88 Same, I still get the glass bottles delivered. Once you are done you put them back on the doorstep to be taken away. Pretty efficiant.
Still my favourite ever episode, this was so epic when it first aired. The week that followed this cliffhanger was mental, it was on the news😂
Hey, you wanted Rose and the Doctor to reunite. Well, they reunited, happy??!! He's seeing her again as he's oknthe ground, shot!!! Doctor Who everyone!!!
This was our Infinity war before infinity war 10 years later😃
Thank you for your beautifly honest reaction ❤ I love this show SO much and it's awesome watching it all over again with you 🩺❓️
I'm so glad you're enjoying the reactions!
Once again, with you all the way here, it’s manic, emotional but love it.
This is the only "bigger is better" 2-parter I actually like from RTD. Most of his large scale finales test my patience. But this is fun and I love the scene with everyone in the TARDIS.
What's funny about your comment is that I reacted to Power of the Doctor a few days ago, and it was fun getting to see everyone in the TARDIS. lol
none of his 2 part finals are bad, they're good
when Harriet jones falls it breaks my heart i loved her character
I agree. What the Doctor did to her never sat right with me. He's given people who've made worse decisions far more chances. I didn't like that "end" for her character, so I was glad to see her back in this.
When an immortal man days oh no. You are in for a bad time
Also the reaction from Sarah seeing the daleks again was so good, considering her history with them.
This episode is the Doctor Who version of Avengers: Infinity War and I love it on every rewatch!
In your classic Who you must see Genesis of the Daleks.
She has. It was part of her build-up to DOTD. :)
Knowing what happens, I have to chuckle at your turmoil. 😉
Stolen earth and journeys end are the best episodes ever.
So much of this is an homage to classic Who. I LOVED IT.
You finally meet Davros the creator of the Daleks to answer your question yes it something to do with classic era but I can't tell you no more than that
Yes, milk being delivered by milkmen is still a thing in the UK.
I keep telling people this ep 12 & 13 are the best episodes !
be like the rest of us, wait a full week before watching the next one, lol
Loved your reaction to everybody being in this episode
I think I actually did. lol It wasn't intentional. It was just how my publication schedule was on Patreon.
The second episode in a row that is one of my top 5, for many reasons. Fantastic reaction! Well you wanted to see The Doctor and Rose together again, you kind of got that here.
So glad you enjoyed the reaction! (Definitely not quite what I had in mind for the reunion, though. lol)
Love your jumper/shirt! I actually have that skeleton design tattooed on my arm haha!
Oh, ha! That's awesome!
This two-parter is PEAK Doctor Who!
I always wonder on rewatch - what happened to the moon? Shouldn’t they have seen the moon?
The moon was left behind. I assume the water was kept secure by the atmospheric shell that kept everything else safe for them.
She’s ahead but when they tow the earth home and it slots back into position we see the moon still there
You would think unit would have better weapons against daleks
...But not necessarily conveniently to hand. I mean, look at the size of Rose's anti-Dalek gun! Wouldn't wanna have one of those strapped to me all through every normal working day. =:o}
I recommend you watch the original Doctor Who episodes “Genesis of the Daleks” (season 12 episodes 11-16) to get the background on Davros.
She'll get there eventually.
Actually patrons got her to jump ahead and watch Genesis in preparation for the 50th anniversary special (she is quite far ahead of UA-cam with nuwho on Patreon)
Welcome to the Doctor Who equivalent of Avengers Endgame :D such a great 2 parter!!!
👎👎👎👎
Wait, is this your first time seeing Davros?
Yes, she did see Genesis later though.
We had to wait a week to find out what happened!
So did I! lol I got worse after recording this and spent the following week sick in bed.
Keep the faith, i was you then, trust a fan, deep breath.
No, milkman like that went out of business around 2010/13
They have milk delivery but nothing like then.
Such a good show.
Also what did you think of the star beast?
I loved it. It's odd saying this now with Donna's end coming up on the channel next week, but I've always been a little upset about her ending (Don't worry, I loved episode 4x13). So, having her come back to get a new end (which I have obviously yet to see), is something I've VERY happy about.
omg i cant wait for you to react to next part
👎👎👎
Cant wait to talk about special 2,3 and also the christmas special with you also we will then both have to wait for may for ncutis first season which is also season 1 of the soft reboot. Also what do you think of the timless child?
Hi what is the latest episode you have watched?
The Star Beast is the most recent reaction I've recorded. It will be released on Patreon next Friday.
Did you manage to avoid spoilers of donnas return?
Sort of. lol There was absolutely no way I was going to be able to avoid spoilers for her or David's return (for multiple reasons). So, it was decided that I would be intentionally spoiled by reacting to edits of 13's regeneration and the trailer for the special. The edited versions gave nothing away except that David and Catherine were coming back. The reaction to those edits is available for absolutely anyone to watch using this link: www.patreon.com/posts/doctor-who-to-94364630
(Davros pulls back his jacket to show his rib cage) That’s just unhygienic.
I have a sugestion for a pilot Smallville.
She has a reaction to that already on Patreon 🙂
@@MalcolmWolf Dang it is it coming to UA-cam. I don't have any money.
@@abbaskazmi2558 Not sure. I imagine people like you showing interest will increase motivation to work on a UA-cam edit 🙂
@@MalcolmWolf Smallville is one of my favorite super hero show's of all time it's
1. BTAS
2. JL
3. JLU
4. STAS
5. Batman Beyond
6. Superman an Lois
7. Smallville
8. Hawkeye
9. Falcon and the Winter Soldier
10. Gotham.
Also i cant watch any of the episodes with Wilf without tearing up
The YOOMAN race!
Have you seen genesis of the daleks
I hadn't at the time this was recorded, but my Patrons did have me skip ahead to that story before watching the 50th Anniversary special.
When are you reacting to special 2 and 3? So i can discuss them both with you.
I'm not sure when I'll be recording them because I've doing a bit of travel over the next few weeks, but special #2 will go out February 9th, and special #3 will go out on February 16th. So, after each of those dates would be fine to discuss them here.
Just for future reference the Christmas special with Ncuti (I was spoiled on him being the Doctor a long time ago) will go out on February 23rd and then I'll be starting reactions to Class on March 8th.
