Another brilliant lesson John. The way you present the material with the scale and chord charts is the best I've seen - bar none!

Well John....I dusted my broom & took down my walkin cane, went to the crossroads.
I met mustang sally & told her,my love would never die.She said, she was only in it for the money & the thrill was gone, should`ve learned my lesson, the first time i met the blues.
Early next morning i went to kansas city, standing on the corner of 12th street & vine.I looked on yonder wall,i wondered why,i almost lost my mind !!
Oh pretty woman, show me the way back home.It was a stormy monday & the sky was cryin
but further on up the road i met a kindhearted woman.Have you ever loved a woman, she asked and i said,"LET THE GOOD TIMES ROLL !!".
    All good stuff John,as usual.

I will be trying this out. I suspect that you have cracked it here. Too many lessons over complicate this idea but you have broken it down in a logical manner.
You have also covered all the chords, as opposed to 99.9% of the lessons that only cover the 1 and 4 chords.
    Thanks Rob 😁👍

I have been totally hooked on your videos and love your no nonsense, straight to the point teaching approach. Great work big man and thanks for all the efforts you make to keep us all on the right track.

Another powerful lesson. So welcomed by a retiree finally finding time to learn to play blues guitar.
Your method of simplifying the message is so easy to follow with the chords, scales, patterns etc etc showing up on screen while you demo means the lesson is so relaxed that I really enjoy watching your videos.
I often find the solutions to other questions that have build in my mind while learning via your videos.
Home is only 30 mile north of you.

I come back to this lesson often for encouragement John. Would you consider doing a video on the backing track ? It just seems to have it all !

Hi John, working on this and your other pentatonic videos and liking it very much. What do you think about doing a video looking at Robben Ford? Please?

As always an informative & fun to watch video that breaks it down to understand & then apply one's own touch...
I'm still striking out on guitar tutor's in my area ,as they all seem so lifeless & bored at what they're doing & that's going to impact on me as I won't want to learn from them...
Your pupils are lucky to have a tutor that has that feel of enjoying what he's doing & that comes across in these videos...
Ah the Blues, along with Funk are my 2 favourite go to styles of music for listening or playing to...
    Nice one JR... 🎸

I use MS Paint to do the basic chord boxes etc. Then remove the white background in Zoner Photo Studio 😀

Hi John, yet another excellent blues lesson from yourself. I was wondering if you ever record your work on cd, if you do I would like some copies for myself, they would be great for long car journeys, and I would gladly pay the going price, or contribute to your chosen charity. Thanks again, and I’m looking forward to your next session

Cheers mate. I don't release music on CD, but you can download both my albums from iTunes, Amazon, and a bunch of other sites. You'll find the links on my website www.johnrobsonmusic.co.uk

I must be learning something, comparing this clip to when I first saw it [yes, I saved a link to refer back to]:
Not only does it suddenly make sense, but I can actually 'see' the processes in place.
There are still holes in my knowledge, at least they are now workable, and not vast chasms of confusion.

Are you suggesting playing A Mixolydian over A7? ;-)

Cheers mate... Indeed I am. To anyone well travelled in the land of modes, it's the obvious choice but modes are a scary prospect to many. Hopefully, this makes it seem a bit more accessible. 😀

Is that if a7 is the 5th only? So we're in D? Or should we use d mixolydian over the D7 as well?

Great video John, here’s my moan and sorry, I’m 54 wear reading glasses but I could not make out the little diagrams for the scales that appeared at the bottom of the screen, yeah maybe I need new glasses lol. Now if I get you right you where using the 4th or 5th position of the pentatonic in its major position? You are super knowledgable and a decent normal bloke.

    • @JRobsonGuitar
      @JRobsonGuitar  5 років тому

Cheers. Basically, what you do is play the basic blues scale/minor pentatonic over the whole BV thing, as well as adding in the major pentatonic of each individual chord 😄
