I bought a brand new 1975 Chevy Nova Custom coupe in Sandstone paint with Sandstone interior. It had the 350 c.i. V8 with 3 speed auto. It was a mid-range model, but I loved it. I kept it for seven years before selling it and buying a new 1982 Honda Accord 2-door hatchback (also a simple, but great car). The 350 V8 was a good motor ...I even had the car going over 100 mph while briefly racing a co-worker on a quiet highway. The speedo in the Nova only went to 85 but my friend in his Chrysler said I was going 105! I have never driven that fast ever again. I was 19 at the time, and well, you know young guys can be 😂
A neighbor of ours owns a 1969 Nova, with the straight six. My grandpa used to drive it sometimes, but now it's rusting away in her backyard. Many people, including my grandpa, and myself, offered to buy it, but she won't sell it. So good of a car going to waste. Love the Nova overall.
My high school car was a 1973 Nova base coupe. I bought it in 1980 with only 13k on the odometer! It had no power steering, no power brakes, no AC, and no radio! It was powered by a 250ci straight six with a manual "three on the tree" column shift. That old Nova stayed with me for over 20 years and lasted over 300k miles!
My granddad had acquired a 70 two door, used, as a second car. 230/Powerglide; and like yours, no steering, brakes or air. AM radio. Bench seat. I drove it for a couple of years until it started burning oil, then parked it. Wish I had it today. Might still have a six, but the Powerglide would be gone. Probably have a four barrel intake and headers….
Funny. I also bought a burgundy 1973 nova hatchback. 350 v8 with 4 spd. Crager mags and brass knuckle style shifter for 700 bucks with 33k on it. Had it 2 years and sold it for 600 buck’s after 4 tires and a battery. Great car
The Nova wagons and convertibles are so rare that they are incredibly valuable. It's a shame the Nova SS convertible only lasted one year. What a rare find that would be.
My first car was a gold, with with black Rally Nova with 165hp 350 2bbl. Current Nova is a 71, with a 70 402 big block and a Tremec 5 speed getting 17mpg at 75mph. Great cruiser, I absolutely love this car.
SO DARN TRUE. My biggest issue in today's cars is that they all look the same? Yes...Safety is key and they all have the same body styles because of it...blah blah blah..BUT they are so boring! Thanks for watching!!
Amen, like I mentioned to others, the 60's decade had it all, style, performance, metal, chrome n affordability. Now it's a joke across the board, now I drive by the auto lots and laugh 😂
I agree, cars are no fun anymore and they are boring looking and theres no exitment. My dad and I use to go to all the dealerships near our house just to see what the new ones were going to look like. I use to sneak onto some of the dealerships used car lots and sit in the cars on the lot all day. One time when I was about 11, I got into a 67 Pontiac LeMans and cranked it up because the keys were in it and put it in reverse and backed it up, then went forward for about 2 hours and nobody saw me! Those were the days!
I can remember doing the same thing as a kid, we would go out to look at the new models and it was a big deal back then, the Chevy dealership would give away free hot dogs (baseball, hotdogs, apple pie and Chevrolet) some gave out free yardsticks or other promotional merchandise. I miss real cars
My first car was a 1973 Nova 4dr, with a 350 and 2bbl. Not fast, but, good enough for me to install my CB radio, whip antenna, a Craig Powerplay 8 track/FM in dash stereo with Jensen 6x9 coaxials on the rear shelf. It was a rockin' ride lol Did some pin striping and added some baby moon hubcaps on the rims. Loved that Nova.
Our Nova II was a 65 Pontiac Acadian Beaumont convertible. 283. Beige on beige. My dad bought it used from grandma, his mom for my mom in 70. (That's when grandpa bought a red 71 Riviera for grandma.) Our first second car. Eventually sold it to a friend of a guy across the street. He promptly ventilated the block. I would love to have it as a three season daily now.
I used to own a 1970 Nova, 350 four bolt main punched 30 over with Silver Light flat top pistons at 10 to 1 compression, a Blue Streak cam that was mild to Wild, Weling high-rise intake, Holly 750 double pumper, Mallory Dual Point Mag, Big Valve heads that were Excrewed Honed with TRW triple angle swirl pattern valves and sodium filled exhaust valves, titanium keepers, roller rockers with stud girdle, Ram Horns headers, duels with crossover and Sonic turbos, Rally Sport wheels, Clevite bearings, Mellings oil pump, AC, front wheel disk rear wheel drums but it did have the drawback of being a monoleaf suspension in the rear, 350 Turbo Hydromatic with a B&M stall converter, Custom Harvest Gold interior and pearlized white paint I drove for several years until a friend of mine Absolutely Had To Have It unfortunately within 2 years of him buying it his new wife who never drove anything bigger than a Ford Escort wrapped it around the telephone Pole turning it into a great big horse shoe!!!
Thanks for the Nova video, and for including a segment on the Rally Nova. I've owned six Nova's, all '69-'72 models. Still own and drive the first one I purchased, a '72 Rally Nova with factory Sky Roof option. Bought it off the original family back in 1992. Has the original 350 (now modified), 3-speed stick on the floor, and 3.08 open rear. Fun and beautiful cars!
The toyo nova came in twin cam trim and was an awesome little car. And less than 2000 were made. Funny thing is that with the jdm craze these were essentially a jdm corolla trueno built in cali.
Owned a '63 Chevy II 4dr and later a '72 coupe, with a 250ci straight 6 that ran great, green vinyl seats and interior, no carpet just a rubber floor covering. Both were over 10 years old when I bought them. Novas are the perfect size cars and I've always loved 'em!! Cool video👍👍🍻
Had owned a '74 Spirit of America edition Nova back in the early 90's. Bought used at the time. Now after all those years wish I still had it. Great vehicle to drive to a car show or cruisein. Just to get something spectator's a flashback to the early 70's when cars were built to last!
Very nice, guys!! We had one, a '63 4 door with a 6 and a power glide. My Mom drove it and when i was learning to drive in the mid '70s, this is what i drove. It was a good little car. Around that same time, the father of a friend had a Rally Nova ('71?). I think it had a 307. I dug it. Thanks again for the memories!!
I have owned at least ten Chevy novas 68 69 70 71 72 73 And an old 1964 and also the 1966 I’ve had big blocks 350s 307 and straight 6 as well loved them all . Thanks. Robert Harden
The '68 to '70 Nova SS's were real sleeper muscle cars. They were light weight and had hundreds of horses hidden under the hood. Many a Mustang, Camaro, Vette and other muscle cars were left in the dust by them.
In 1973, my senior year I bought a new 1974 SS, aqua blue, with full console gauges, tach in the dash, bucket seats, automatic, 350 4bbl Rochester carb, 308 gears. I beefed the ignition, installed headers, and with the timing advanced a little and open headers, it would turn 110 mph through a full quarter. Not bad for a lower compression 350 than the previous years. Loved that car, give almost anything to have it back now !!
On seven of them back in the day of the 70s My cars were from the 69 to 74 including a few SSs and a spirit of America model. Bought a 74 2 Dr 3 years ago and it's a labor of love now. On of the coolest and fastest Chevys ever made😊😊
When I got out of the army in 74, I found a SS350/ 4-speed on Selman Chevrolets lot that was ordered by the dealer's son, then quickly taken away from due to speeding tickets. It had 1900 miles on it when I got it. I did not realize what I had then. Catalina Blue Black Stripes with white bucket seats. Very rare Factory Headers. Beautiful car with the factory 5 spoke steel wheels with beauty rings.
My first car was a 74 Nova SS. I found another one around the corner from my house. Hopefully I can buy the body from the owner. Going to do a complete restomod on it. Going to drop a 383 with a 5 speed transmission. It's going to be a blast to be able to relive the memory of my childhood.
Buddy of mine mustered out of the Navy in late '68 & quickly hired into Chevy Engineering at the Tech center in Warren Michigan, He bought a loaded gorgeous '68 Nova SS 2-door that was a GM show car & was turned in at the exec lot. It was painted a deep Nassau blue with clearcoat that the finish looked about three feet deep & had only 600 miles on it. The fit & finish was perfect. Under the hood was a 350 V8 4-bbl that flat out flew. Great car, friend & memories.
My grandparents had a 1963 Chevy Nova SS and years later traded it for a Chrysler Newport land yacht. I always wondered why the hard top option was discontinued beginning in 1968. I remember wanting a Nova Concours back in the day . Probably the most luxurious Nova produced.

Love the early Novas. If I wasn’t already finishing the 69 Mustang fastback dad left me, I’d probably hunt down an early nova or Ford Falcon. Thanks for sharing the history.
In the mid 80's I had a 74 2 door coupe Nova that was metallic brown. It had a straight six and an aftermarket AC. It did many brake stands until I broke a rear leaf spring....lol. I fixed and sold it not long after that. It was a great little car!
I owned a 75 Camaro. I once was in the dealer’s service bay when it was on a lift next to a 75 Nova. Underneath they looked identical. Same suspension, exhaust layout, steering mechanism, etc. Both had the base model anemic 230 CI 6 cylinder 100 Hp engine.
Once upon a time i had a 1975 black on black two door we put a 402 big block in. Then i had a 1972 with a 400 small block and four speed. She was white. I also had a marina blue 1966 SS . It was a 283 and powerglide. I'm ,65 now with Lots of great memories. Thanks for the information.
One of my aunts had a 75 two door with a 350 two barrel. It might not have been as powerful as the earlier offerings, but was spirited enough, probably cause it didn’t wasn’t really all that heavy. Drank gas, however. I always liked the. 75-up body style the best.
Back in the 80s I had a 1973 nova. It was red with a white vinyl top , 350 engine and turbo 350 automatic, rally rims, and a hatchback. But only had power drum brakes all around. It at least had AC and power steering. I drove it until it just started falling apart. Mainly the body.
Back in the seventies when I was in high school one of my buddies got a 74 Nova 4 door sedan, it wasn't sporty but it hauled a lot of us around. His little brother told us that his dad bought it from an auction & its first year of life it had been a driver's education vehicle.. we teased him relentlessly about that!!! Thanks for the history lesson for the Nova!!! 👍👍🙂
Memories! Thank you so much for sharing! This is what the channel is all about. Hey, we can't tell who is a subscriber and who is not. If you're not, could you please help us? Thank you!
I had a 72 Nova, 350 2 barrel, 2 door sedan. It got me thorough University and 10 more years of commuting to work. A great car once I replaced the bias ply tires with radials in 75 or 76.
My exwife had a 73 Nova hatchback with baby moon hubcaps on it bought it used in 1976. Had 48K on it with the 307 and TH350 auto...it was a good running car, but 3 days after buying it from the dealer (used) the voltage regulator took a crap kept running but the gen light stayed on...went back to the dealer and they fixed it for free. I ran that car back and forth to chicago from Hobart Indiana to work at prudential insurance for over a year and a half putting about 40K on it never a failure. It was a beast in winter snow didn't bother it at all. We traded it in 78 for a Chevette should have kept the Nova ran alot better than the Chevette did.
A friend of mine in college had a '76 Nova I think. The 70s ones were the best because it was such a basic car the customization possibilities were limited only by your imagination.
My neighbor had a 74 Spirit of America Nova in the very early 80's until him and his girlfriend got in a argument one night and she lite the interior on fire and totaled it...Ive owned my 73 Nova SS Hatchback with a factory 4 speed since 1980 and still own it... It was my first car... Its a rust free car
My first car was a 1964 nova with a 6 banger and three on the tree. Later, my best friend had a red 396/375 hp 1970 nova. That car was awesome. Miss those days
our family received a '69 Nova sedan from my grandfather brand new. It may have been basic but it was a fun and reliable compact car. It also had a two-tone paint job, blue with a white roof (not vinyl). In Canada GM marketed a line called Acadian starting in '62, they were Chevy IIs and Novas with slightly altered trim and grilles. They came in Acadian and Canso models. It had to do with the tax laws regarding cars sold in Canada, even though they were made on the same US assembly lines as the Novas. They were sold at Pontiac/Buick dealers across the country. The last Acadians were sold in '68. You may not have love for the 80s Novas, but I thought those looked quite nice. They were certainly handsomer than the Corollas they were based on!
My first car was a black 71 Nova with white interior. I damn near cried after I totaled it. Still miss that car, no other car could replace it in my eyes
I never cared much for the ChevyII Nova body styling until the new body in 66'. That being said the Chevelle was still my favorite during this time period. Before that the early 60s Implalas were my favorite. Before that the 57 Chevy was my all time favorite Chevy. I knew the 57' would be a classic even before it was a classic. I started school in the early 60s and was already a car nut. Up until 64' our family car was a 55' Rocket 88 Oldsmobile 2 door hardtop.
I seriously doubt that Elisabeth Montgomery ever owned a Chevy II. However, my mother's brother, Ross Dimm who lived in Seattle had a yellow 63 Chevy II Nova convertible. He let me drive it once when I was 16, and I will never forget that wonderful open air cruising feeling. In 2017 I got a great deal on a 2006 Toyota Solara convertible with only 10k miles. I think about uncle Bud, as I knew him, when I get my convertible out out on a nice day.
Had a 1973 350 cid SS hatchback. It had a factory hatchbach hutch option. Was pretty cool for camping out. Grew up in a Chevrolet car dealership in 60's. That 375hp 396 with the solid lifters was stupid fast and dangerous.
I bought a new 72 Rally Nova, it list for $2900.00, I got it for $2600.00, I still have it, it's parked under my shed, 3 speed, 350v8, I need to get it out and drive it, a lot of memories in that car.
I’d absolutely love to have a 68-72 SS or a 74 Spirit of America Nova. My brother had a 72 SS 4 speed when I was a kid and that was my introduction to fast muscle cars. When I was 15 I was going to buy a 74 spirit of America. My dad had the loan ready to give me, and the guy ended up selling it out from underneath me after a gentleman’s agreement that he’d sell it to me. Only one I’ve ever seen in person.
After the Corvair failed to sell in big numbers for 1960, while Ford's Falcon was a huge success for 1960, the Chevy II was rushed out for 1962 and pretty much copying the Falcon's dimensions and layout. Due to rushing the Chevy II to market, it suffered from quite a few quality issues such as paint runs, and sloppy body welds.
I think you and I are the only ones who know what the "Torque drive" transmissions were. For those of you who don't, you had to shift that transmission.
I Loved my ‘73 Nova 2dr Custom. It had factory White bucket seats. I bought it from the original owner in 1996. It had only 60K miles and paid $500 for it. I drove it for over 100K miles and sold it to a 17 year old guy for $3,300. He repainted it in Bright Metallic Blue the first month he had it and flipped it less than a week after repainting it. He was a kid who lived up the road from us. It was an in-line 6cyl with a 2 spd dynaflow transmission. I did put knock off Center lines on it and front springs.
Paul Rodriguez still lives rent free in my Chevy Nova love with his old joke about "no va" as in the car doesn't go. 😂 Still, great history, and I'm a fan of the 68 and the 66.
yep. had 70 in about '88. 4dr 250 monojet pwrglide. it was in great shape when i got it. it was slow and the brakes sucked but it was good on gas and it held 4 idiots. was a good roadtrip car.
My 79 Nova 4dr was recently restored. Even used the factory yellow from that year on the paint color. Wish you would have covered the disco nova a little more (75 - 79), but Ill take what I can get. Thank you
I can attest to the Nova died with the 76 model. When I came out of boot camp in 1974 I purchased a brand new 1974 nova. She cost 3000 bucks and I had her for a little over 6 years. It had a 250 straight 6 cyl. Automatic .

I had a '73 Nova SS 350, own it for ten years...painted it Corvette "Spectra-Red" code 75.....
I bought a brand new 1975 Chevy Nova Custom coupe in Sandstone paint with Sandstone interior. It had the 350 c.i. V8 with 3 speed auto. It was a mid-range model, but I loved it. Still have my 1972 Nova SS. 4th engine 3rd transmission. I will have it till the day I die.
had a 74 SS396

You gotta get to try to get it. It's probably got some sentimental value to them but it's a shame to let it sit and rot .
Report her to Car Protective Services.
Don't know why ppl do that, there NOT doing the car a favor ! I guess its because they have something u don't & want ?
My high school car was a 1973 Nova base coupe. I bought it in 1980 with only 13k on the odometer! It had no power steering, no power brakes, no AC, and no radio! No worthless garbage or frills on the car to go broken...
The Nova wagons and convertibles are so rare that they are incredibly valuable. It's a shame the Nova SS convertible only lasted one year. What a rare find that would be.

Had a 1970 Nova with a stock 307 and that thing was fast in the late 70s. Loved the car
Cars are so boring now. We used to go to all of the dealers just to look. Now, there's nothing worth looking at.
They all are copying themselves. It's like originality doesn't matter anymore.
SO DARN TRUE. My biggest issue in today's cars is that they all look the same? Yes...Safety is key and they all have the same body styles because of it...blah blah blah..BUT they are so boring! Thanks for watching!!

I really enjoyed this video and took me back to adolescense when I learnt to drive in a Chevy Nova 1965. Thanks a lot folks!
Our pleasure!
I remember NOVA’s with the famous 350 cid, four brl carburetor, dual exhaust. They were fast as hell.
Still have my 72 Nova SS. 19 years now. A real sweet pea of a car.

My 72 Olds Omega was just a rebranded and upgraded Nova with a landau roof. Lot of good times in that car.
Olds Omega was a
1973 introduction,
NOT 1972. CB

There's also a Canadian version of the Chevy II Nova and that my friends is the Acadian Canso SD.
On seven of them back in the day of the 70s My cars were from the 69 to 74 including a few SSs and a spirit of America model.
Bought a 74 2 Dr 3 years ago and it's a labor of love now. On of the coolest and fastest Chevys ever made😊😊
Had a 77 or 78 Chevy Concours in the late 80's. Made in Canada I believe. 305 engine ran well. No issues. Actually a pretty nice car!

Nova and Camaro were the exact same car with different bodies. completely interchangeable.

I had a 1976 Nova Concorse, V8, automatic. What a sleeper that was!
My dad had a 1969 Nova SS with a 4 speed and 350. Loved that car, he only sold it due to an injury and couldn't drive standard anymore. Miss that car.
Awesome cars!!!
In high school mid 80 s a buddy had a 75 nova, lots of fun, run great ! 👍
My father owned a 1976 Nova 4-door sedan and I liked driving it around in San Francisco doing errands (I was 17 years old then).
I had a 74 nova in the mid 80's , the toughest car I ever owned . I'd love to have another one . Great car .
I had a 73 Nova Hatchback I loved that car. Put 250000 miles on it. Camped on the beach a lot with it.
My car in highschool (1978) was a 1974 Nova SS, 3 on the floor, add-on air and dark blue paint. Sure wish I had that car again.
In the mid 80's I had a 74 2 door coupe Nova that was metallic brown. It had a straight six and an aftermarket AC. It did many brake stands until I broke a rear leaf spring....lol. I fixed and sold it not long after that. It was a great little car!
I had a 1977 Nova Concours hatback with a 4 speed , love that car .
My best friend in high school had one those red ,white and blue one see that brought back memories 😅
They had the same chassis and a lot of the parts were interchangeable.
My cousin's boyfriend (Josh) has a 70 Chevy Nova SS with a 500 HP 383 Stroker in it and man let me tell you its a freakn beast.
Awesome!!
Had a 1974 with a 327 and a 3 speed manual.
Got it pretty cheap
I think I paid $800 for it, and it squealed tires in all 3 speed. Fun car to drive. ❤
Obviously the engine had been swapped, as a '74 was not offered with a 327. Very cool.
One of my aunts had a 75 two door with a 350 two barrel. It might not have been as powerful as the earlier offerings, but was spirited enough, probably cause it didn’t wasn’t really all that heavy. Drank gas, however. I always liked the. 75-up body style the best.
sure it did......
Thanks for the episode. My 70 Nova was my coming of age car.
Glad we could do it!
Growing up in the early 80s, everyone had a nova and they can fit any engine!
Great lines....very sturdy.....smooth......Oh the Nova looks ok as well....
I was a Chevy Tech back in the 80s when the Toyota Nova came out. They were popular

I had a 72 Nova, 350 2 barrel, 2 door sedan. It got me thorough University and 10 more years of commuting to work. A great car once I replaced the bias ply tires with radials in 75 or 76.
We had a 68 three on the tree, my fist car was a 66 Nova . Love the Nova! The 80s Nova s don't exist in my mind
I miss my Novas, A '65 2 door Chevy II Nova and a '69 2 door Nova. Also had a 71 4 door that didn't last long but was fun to drive.
A friend of mine in college had a '76 Nova I think. The 70s ones were the best because it was such a basic car the customization possibilities were limited only by your imagination.
I had a classmate that had a new ChevyII in 1963. Red convertible. It had a white top and was manually operated.
I had a 1972 Nova (used) - that was the best car I have ever owned. Bring it back as a hybrid and I'll buy Chevy's again!
Whatever color that was on the one at 6:57-7:15 was beautiful!!
My first car was a 1964 nova with a 6 banger and three on the tree. Later, my best friend had a red 396/375 hp 1970 nova. That car was awesome. Miss those days

I had a 69 Nova 307 2 speed. I should have kept it. Great show keep up the good work.
My sister's first car was a 1976 Nova with the straight 6.
our family received a '69 Nova sedan from my grandfather brand new.
*Thanks for the ride down Memory Lane.*
First car was a 1978 Nova coupe, Camel Tan metallic, 110 hp 250. We called it the slowva. My 2 brothers both had a1973 Nova SS hatchback
My first car was a black 71 Nova with white interior. I damn near cried after I totaled it. Still miss that car, no other car could replace it in my eyes
I had a 75 Nova Tudor with the inline 6 250. It wasn't a bad car. After I had to change the transmission and rear end. It was a good car good on gas.
Loved the Bewitched clip!
Gloves in the glove box?
Genius.
Wasn't it? lol
We appreciate ya! Thank you for watching. Please help by subscribing if you haven't already.
Boca Brothers, thanks for introducing the video with a black and white retro commerical.
My parents had a 1972 Nova my Dad paid $700 for it back in 1982 I loved that car even though I was only 5 years old
I currently a proud owner of a 68 Chevy II Nova.
Wow! Awesome!
Got a 75’ Nova. 327 motor. It’s a really fun car to drive
Miss my 1968 Chevy II Nova … 307 with 2 speed Torque drive transmission ! 2 door of course ! A great 1st car right there my son !
I think you and I are the only ones who know what the "Torque drive" transmissions were. For those of you who don't, you had to shift that transmission.
Had a 1972 350 automatic bucket seats. Nice car.
Neighbor down the strett had a 72. We'd do some crazy sh*t in it back in 77!
I had a 71 Nova SS with the LT1 and a 77 Nova Concourse with the 305. And drove the police package Nova for 77.

Dynaflow was Buick, Chevy 2spd was powerglide
@@rogerdodrill4733 You’re right. My bad. I apologize.
Paul Rodriguez still lives rent free in my Chevy Nova love with his old joke about "no va" as in the car doesn't go. 😂 Still, great history, and I'm a fan of the 68 and the 66.
Great footage and information. Well explained video as well. Thank you for the effort with this video.
Thanks OLDS98...We always appreciate you watching and commenting.
yep. had 70 in about '88. 4dr 250 monojet pwrglide. it was in great shape when i got it. it was slow and the brakes sucked but it was good on gas and it held 4 idiots. was a good roadtrip car.
My 79 Nova 4dr was recently restored. Even used the factory yellow from that year on the paint color. Wish you would have covered the disco nova a little more (75 - 79), but Ill take what I can get. Thank you
I had a 70 nova in the mid 80's but also had the novas brother, the 1974 Pontiac Ventura GTO in 1975. Got it for my 16th birthday.
A buddy of mine had a '68 Chevy II / Nova. The 'Chevy II' was not dropped until 1969.
thats what i thought when he said it was dropped in 68
Nice thumbnail picture she looks like she's all muscles with great lines. I always did like the color blue as well.
Yes, we love the curves too!
Sleeper Nova oh yeah! 🔥💯
I had a 1974 spirit of America Nava. Wish I still had it
I can attest to the Nova died with the 76 model. When I came out of boot camp in 1974 I purchased a brand new 1974 nova. She cost 3000 bucks and I had her for a little over 6 years. It had a 250 straight 6 cyl. Automatic .
