That performance is pretty impressive with just a spring swap. Priced a little higher than other magfed springer pistols but it hits a lot harder. Very nice
@@BradleyPhillipsYT have you had a chance to try this mod? there isnt any confirming info on weather the viper works with nightingales on the internet yet.
Thanks! I put in a k25 spring in today. Only a few shots but big performance boost. No Chronograph numbers yet. I used you video to get it back together!!
Thanks for covering the RMR sight and confirming my findings re: 36mm vs 38mm darts. I was having jamming and feeding issues with worker darts with both s200 and Fire Rat. The included darts with these blasters work perfectly. No idea why these companies don't design their blasters for the more common 38 mm length darts.
I tried out the Viper during a nerf war last month. With the standard spring, it had the same performance as the my FireRat. In the end I preferred by firerat (with the brackets removed) for three reasons - I could see the dart loading into the breech better on the firerat, there are big fat protrusions on either side of the firerat slide to help grip when priming and I was having more feeding issues with the viper magazine than the firerat magazine. The magazines are quite different. If you drew a line through the center of the top dart, then drew another line perpendicular to it down the length of the magazine, you'd see that viper's magazine is more angled than the firerat's. The darts experience more resistance travelling up in the viper than the firerat. My recommendation is that when you pull the slide back to chamber a dart, push up on the slide release with your right thumb so that it's locked open. Wait a second to allow all the darts to push up, then pull the slide release down with your thumb to prime. Maybe wrap some tape around your thumb beforehand so that it isn't sore after the game. The viper does look very cool with the barrel exposure when priming.
Thanks so much for this review Sir Brad, I like the new editing you've added to this video. I look forward to trying the Viper as it looks much cooler, I do like the firerat though since it works great out of the box.
Luke from Out of Darts shows in his video for this blaster that one can use Worker Nightingale mags in it if you add a second Catch notch to the mag. It's not 20, but 15 is more than 10.
How is it as accurate as it is without rifling? Also I’ve seen a few people put slightly longer barrels on it plus BCAR’s. Got me thinking about some pump action conversion ideas. Is the Lower all one piece or is it secretly two halves? Also is the textured stuff on the grip also nylon?
The texturing is just part of the injection mold. As for a slightly longer barrel, I think it kind of defeats the purpose of a sidearm to have a long barrel on it. The lower frame is one piece.
@@BradleyPhillipsYT I’d just prefer a pump action mag in grip carbine. Kinda want to somehow make or adapt a stock sorta like on a C96 carbine and make a pump action adaptation that bolts onto the slide and slots into the side grooves of the chin rail or something I’d have to attack to said rail. For best results I’d want to be able to glue nylon to nylon plus whatever extra reinforcements I might need. I have to look up what would stick. Another pump action idea I had would sort of resemble a Glock carbine but the added body work and stock would still be a single piece thing that bolts onto the slide. And the pistol’s whole lower would be the pump handle. I saw someone on reddit managed to get these to take nightingale mags btw. Tho idk what the max number of darts for it should be
I got both the firerat and the viper. Fps wise, viper beats it but I find the firerat is more solid as the viper has a bit more flex under prime. As for air seal. the s200 i pretty much got a 100% seal, holding air for 5sec and av 135fps But The viper has an issue with the pusher itself, ive tried many different o-rings and the best I can get is about 3sec holding. Im not sure, if the pusher isn't getting deep enough to make the correct contact as I've done many adjustments but honestly at 170fps, im not gong to complain too much. Both of mine have cut down worker barrels, much better then the original that comes with it. Each have pros and cons but both great side arms for games Side note, you can fix the side not closing by adjusting the 2 front screws under barrel or what I did, pull it apart and add 2 spaces on the shaft with the springs, give it not tension, haven't has an issue since
I think the pusher seals into a plastic breech area rather than into the barrel itself, so I'm guessing that plastic breech is the cause of air leak. If there's a seam line there (I haven't checked) that could be the cause, or perhaps a larger oring as you've tried. Spacer on the return spring is a good idea, glad to hear that solves the slide closing issue.
@@BradleyPhillipsYT you are correct, it dose seal to the breech, pretty much the same as the firerat. Good point, I never checked for a seam line and honestly didn't even cross my mind. Ill have a look at it tonight, might need a light sand. 7 to 10mm spacer works perfectly, I got them on both and the slide snaps back with force. Just be aware that the darts need to be aligned otherwise you know that happens
I'm using spacers on my firerat as well and adjusted the 2 front screws. There's been no sliding closing issue, so I've removed the brackets that hold the slide closed.
Hi Brad, just curious if the blaster shows any issues with the 10kg longshot spring upgrade so far? I am torn between using the spring that you've installed vs the 1.6 spring
just a quick question. though this is state specific, I was wondering if the same laws that apply to gel blasters and airsoft apply to dart blasters. Because this dart blaster can be considered to resemble a real firearm pistol, I was wondering what your experience was like when purchasing it (did it require registration or something of the sort). I apologise if this question is at all difficult to answer, my research has resulted in confusing answers as to whether or not dart blaster items can be classified in an instance such as the s200s viper as an imitation firearm. Regardless, great video as always, fun to watch when trying to relax. All the best and keep blasting.
In South Australia, only gel blasters are considered firearms, not Nerf. However in some states that do actually use appearance laws, Nerf is not exempt.
I have three Rats and two Vipers, the Vipers seem to me a cheaper twangier upon firing, hollower, thinner plastic version of the Rats, the Rats appear more over engineered and much more solid but hey that's just my opinion.
I think no matter how high the fps gets, these pistols only suits for 8m engagement becuz the firerate is lower than pump action springer or flywheeler, even within 8m these pistol still requires more stealth operation.
I've heard of a couple people experiencing the same. It may be worth getting a B709a import permit prior to ordering in any Nerf blasters going forward.
