1. the armed forces, including peace keeping forces

4. military space activities

Per capita wise, China and India seems reasonable to have such high military spending, but the US...
Brazil is pretty reasonable as well, but most of it is for paying the reserve

The US is protecting half of the world's countries with their military. Like 1.5 bilion people.
Per capita wise the US is doing just fine. They are spending around 3.5% of their gdp on military spending compared to Chinas 1.6% and Indias 2.4%. For the best performance development wise, a military of 3.0% or under is the most optimal. The US should not it down by a bit but thats not required.
China should be increasing their spending though.
Well this is quite relevant given recent news.

I didn't know Brazil was such a powerhouse in the recent years.
We spend pretty much all of our money in wages and pensions.
Also, using our military against other nations is against our constitution.
So, the rest of the military budget is spent on defence mechanisms, infraestructure and providing health to those in precarious situations.

Нет, солдат может быть с опытом, но армия это набор общевойсковых практик и технологий и один солдат как единица нечего не решает. Военный бюджет может не совсем отображать результат венного столкновения ,лишь иза разной возможной структуры бюджетирования, допустим авианосец самое дорогое оружие в производстве и обслуживании ,но при войне с любым мощным врагом он крайне не эффективен, но как мобильный аэродром ,для контроля колоний самое то. Так же тут все считается в долларах без учета недооцененности региональных валют, другими словами 240м Китая это будет скорее те же 320+м США , а 55 России с учетом недооценки рубля в четыре раза , это те же 180+м США.
