Nitrile gloves have changed the game for me when it comes to this type of bearing work.

I have some but I keep tearing them, I must be a rough bugger, lol.

Thank you for a great video I had to put new bolts to hold the axles on and found out the bearings are bad and I did not see a flat axle bearing washer in there so thank you

Good one, oddly my father, god rest his soul, would put grease into the hub cover too, never knew why, I guess it was how he learned it back in the day.

We were told it did no good in the cap but what possible harm could it do.

Thanks for that Lance. I've been putting off doing this on my TEF20 as I didn't know it could be done without a reamer. Maybe I'll be able to use the loader and steer at the same time with new thrust bearings 🙂. Video is head and shoulders above anything else I could find... Oh! And Happy New year!

I've been doing this job today, alas my kingpin casting seems different. There is no recess on the bottom of it for my spindle bearing to fit into. The outside diameter of my new thrust bearing is the same size as the diameter of the casting, so my thrust bearing will pretty much be outside in the open. This doesn't seem right. But thank you for this informative video, I wish I watched it before hand!

I found on the later straight axles the bearing was out in the open, not a good thing I dont think.

@@BundyBearsShed ah thanks for letting me know that. Yes it's a straight axle and I thought it was such a daft design to have a bearing out in the open, wonder what the boffins at Massey were thinking!

I have to do this to my TE20, it looks like it will be the same process or very similar.

That wheel bearing seal is no doubt correct, but it feels weird, I have always put them the other way, why do they say to do them that way, do you normally do them like that ? Just wondering?

I have too but I have seen both so I thought I would look it up just to try and give good info and in the Massey Ferguson manual it is this way. Most I feel are the other way.

Split pins are like pulling teeth, sometimes they come straight out other times they're bent and break off and fight you all the way.

Hi Lance, did you have to remove the bottom bush as well? Was that the same process as the top one?
