- Shaun Of The Dead (2004) SYNOPSIS: Shaun (Simon Pegg) is a 30-something loser with a dull, easy existence. When he's not working at the electronics store, he lives with his slovenly best friend, Ed (Nick Frost), in a small flat on the outskirts of London. The only unpredictable element in his life is his girlfriend, Liz (Kate Ashfield), who wishes desperately for Shaun to grow up and be a man. When the town is inexplicably overrun with zombies, Shaun must rise to the occasion and protect both Liz and his mother (Penelope Wilton).

This is actually some class filmmaking from Edgar Wright. Earlier in the film he goes to the shop on a regular day, and that guy is just doing a morning jog. Absolutely hilarious this guy is pelting it

I've literally watched this like 2 months ago and i was like "Hmm Why don't i Just check it again" and here i am laughing to this cuz i didn't watch it from beginning lol.
I imagine that's cos he's already a zombie. Trundling through life with no real purpose. And later in the film, we see zombies can't distinguish people pretending to be zombies from actual zombies

Complete genius , all the subtle mundane details like tripping up on the pavement, casually slipping on the blood , getting a little gas on sipping the coke and all the being half-awake ...all good stuff ... and let's not get started on the channel surfing moment .... the Cornetto lads are golden ....
Edgar Wright actually said there was no blood,just shows how good of an actor Simon Pegg is if he can fake a slip!
@@alexdevine9713 And you can even see there's no blood like 3 seconds later right before the camera pans to the lack of newspapers. I almost think that was ad lib and they kept it because it was such a good little extra detail.

01:01 Best part is when he’s oblivious to the bloody hand prints on the cooler door, then slips on what’s presumably a pool of blood on the floor. Scene would’ve been better if you could see the pool of blood behind him and blood on his soles when he puts his feet up when he’s watching the telly. Still, I love this scene. 😆😂🤣

I LOVE THIS MOVIE. The film style is brilliant. This opening sequence is hilarious. The fact that he is so blissfully unaware is such a great concept. hahaha, well done!
The song in the food store was in hindi and the warning given in news in the store was also in hindi . It was " mare hue log apne kabro se waapis aakar jindi logo ko kha rahe hai " which ing english means that the dead people are rising from their graves and are eating the living people .

When I' m 13, my English teacher showed me this movie. It didn't have subtitles and I couldn't understand what they say. But it was very hilarious. It is still my favorite zombie movie.

The great part is that this mirrors an earlier scene where he does the exact same thing the day before, with all the zombies still people.

I love how he walks to the shop and back in the middle of a Zombie apocalypse and doesn't catch any of the clues: the shopping cart, the broken windshield on the car, the man running away from something, the blood stains on the refrigerator door, the slow zombies and the dead guy in front of his door step.
Nowadays, the scene could have been brought to perfection had he been on his smartphone the entire time.

Confident a lot of people would just go about their day, end up in their workplace and wonder "Where is everybody?" while zombies where walking around outside.
The best part about this, is that it is EXACTLY the same scene as from earlier in the movie before the zombie outbreak. Including details of Shaun stumbling over the pavement and picking the second can of coke. This scene is also shot in one go and from the same angle.

At 1:25, the shop's radio cuts to an emergency broadcast in Hindi saying: "This is an emergency broadcast. Dead people are rising from their graves and attacking the living. This scene became so much more hilarious after Covid for me because I did this after my shift 10+ hour shift, going to the store and everything was a mess, so I just left went to another store it wasn't till I was in 2nd store trying to find milk and seeing people fighting over a can. that I asked what was going on...
The lockdown really made people lose their minds. It would be interesting to teach it in history classes.
