I was born and raised in a small town in central China and spent my whole school life there before college. It is interesting to see your perspective as a foreign teacher in Beijing, and I just feel a lot has changed, but a lot has also remained the same: students wear the same kind of sporty uniforms, but girls can let their hair down on shoulders now and boys can have long curly hair; kids act the energetic way we used to behave, but they are bolder in front of teachers now (at my time we don't talk to our teachers after class, and there is not a single foreign English teacher in our secondary or high school); kids are also more open to express themselves, as I see from their new year wishes (At my time, we only copied clichés from the textbook into our class assignment or homework because we're afraid to make mistakes!). you really inspired me. I am a Chinese teacher in Peru. I felt like my students were kinda stressed out in my class. I wish I can have the energy like you and make them laugh in my class.

@@AleeseLightyear I'm a teacher at an Asian school in the states. I recently discovered your channel. It seems amazing to work and teach in China . I was wondering if you can possibly let me know how to go about applying to a place like yours.
I was like 👁👄👁
This kinda reminds me of my school. In my school we spend 2-3 hours of our 8 hour school day learning Chinese an for a couple of our classes our teachers only speak Chinese. It very difficult to learn but having teachers who are natives to that language teaching you is so much easier then having a teacher who learned the language teaching it. It's actually fun because my teachers teach us about Chinese culture. Every year during Chinese new year we have a class lunch where our Chinese teachers bring in food and teach us how to make it. I graduate in a couple years and I have to say I'm going to miss it. You are an amazing teacher. Your students are so so lucky
Damn I wish I had classes like that when I was a child, my ESL experience was pretty much the English equivalent of "donde esta la biblioteca".
hahhahah thanks so much!! I don't teach ESL as the subject but all of my classes involve some type of ESL lesson in them to help students understand the concepts.
This is a great human being. Her laughter makes the world a better place!
Yay! Thanks a ton for tuning in

I just moved back to the US after teaching for four years in Beijing. My school was like yours, an international boarding school. It was great. Best job I ever had. I love seeing this video. Brings fond memories.
