    Thank you for your wonderful podcasts! I have just started knitting again, and really getting in the right knitting vibes when watching this. I live in the Netherlands and none of my friends knit, since here unfortunately it is not a 'cool' thing like in Scandinavia, so at least i feel like i am knitting with a UA-cam friend :). Thank you!

    Your jacket is a masterpiece! As an Occupational Therapist, I m so glad you shared your knitting ergonomics, it’s important information 👍Also, for new watching, have you seen a series from Australia called Offspring? It’s on line, streaming, a funny/ sad fiction series about a female OB/GYN , it was a great relaxing watch😀 Love your podcast!!

    I so enjoyed hearing the process, and your journey, toward becoming an OB-Gyn specialist! And I loved getting to knit with you too. Your kofte is gorgeous. I am so impressed with the button bands! I also tend to find patterns for the yarn I have. Sometimes I buy for a special project, but a lot of my yarn purchases are because I've fallen in love with a particular yarn, or else that I've found a type of wool (usually), or other fiber (sometimes) that I want to knit with. Thank you for the wonderful episode, and have a great vacation!! p.s. I'm excited for the upcoming knit-a-long.

    omg I didn't expect you to mention ACOTAR here 🤣 This is where my booktube sphere and knitting YT sphere unexpectedly cross over. I'd consider the book to have younger target audience but nevertheless hope you find some fun there! (I only listened to the audiobook for the first one because I just wanted to see what the whole bookstagram fuss was about - it was enjoyable but not something I wanted to invest more time and keep up with the series) As for something to do while knitting, I listen to lots of thriller books! I just think thrillers are really enjoyable as audiobook format with its plot-driven structure and everything.

      Also couldn’t agree more about you talking about not knitting for pay or if someone wanted to order a knitted object. I was knitting my daughter Edie a onesie at work the other day and one of my colleagues was like wow you could open an Etsy store and sell your stuff and I was like…. Well I c oils but for that to be worth it to me I would charge like $900 for a baby onesie soooooooooo no. Hahah I love knitting for gifts but would never be able to do it for a job - for me knitting is an act of love and I can’t sell that. Anywayyyyy thanks again for sharing!

    The lemon balm tea has the benefit of being a stress reducer.
    I gift it to my daughter who has a 5 am wake-up and a stressful job.
    When your summer grows short & fall freezing starts, you can dry the leaves & use it for a hot tea to enjoy in the evening.
    The minty taste is good for upset stomachs as well. I drank it a lot when I was pregnant.

I love rustic yarn like Gotland or Shetland yarn. I’m not sure how it compares. Just to know if to knit a garment with it or a lap blanket or kids toys. Do you have any idea about this yarn? Hi Inga, I love watching your podcast - I watched some episodes multiple times! It is great to see all you knits. I noticed that you have made several garments with alpaca yarns. I have 1kg of beautiful suri alpaca worsted weight yarn, but am not sure what patterns are good for it. I was initially thinking of making the Andrea cardigan, but am afraid that the yarn being so soft would not show the cables well. What is your favourite pattern for alpaca yarn?

    • @knittingtraditions
      @knittingtraditions  2 роки тому

      Alpaca is very warm, its heavier then wool and has a lovely drape. Id use it for a shawl rather then a garment as it will often grow in length with time and not hold its shape as well as wool

    The preference for electric cars in scandinavia is really interesting to me - the consensus is really divided where I live, especially after the UN/Amnesty intl reports condemning the mining practices to source the materials for their batteries. They are cleaner and cheaper for the user but instead the pollution/production/mining issues are pushed onto other parts of the world. I guess I am curious - if they are super popular in Norway, do people talk about that? People here still buy them and use them, my sister has one and she is saving a ton of money on gas, but it's definitely a hot topic of conversation.

    • @knittingtraditions
      @knittingtraditions  Рік тому

      There was alot of talk about it yes, the consensus was that as long as people dont just buy and scrap the batteries it was overall beneficial to the environment compared to fossil fuel cars. and they have created ways of recycling/disposing of damaged batteries i beliveve but im no expert. we personally plan on having the car for many years, the batteries have guarantees to prevent people scrapping the cars and insted get them repaired and they are getting longer and longer, so ours has a 7 year guarantee which is pretty good.

I jump up and put my password in so I can actually SEE - and yes!! There is my little Inga!! It was a happy accident that I could sit and do my makeup and listen to you. So relaxing. Inga, your jacket is so beautiful. I want to make one, but I am a bit intimidated by the all-over colorwork. I have never done that much colorwork before. I don't know how you flew through it so fast. Could it be possible that it is safe for a experienced, but not advanced, colorwork knitter to do?

    • @knittingtraditions

      Yes if your able to do any colorwork you can do an all over colorwork in my opinion😁 it was alot og fun to knit, the steaking and sewing was the biggest challange

    That Kofte is incredible!! Wow! You're so skilled, and I looove that you use natural, non-superwash wool. Also, the noise from the wind doesn't bother me at all. I especially enjoy the sit and knit with me portion. Thank you for sharing with us. Keep up the good work- your videos make me feel like I'm wrapped in a nice comforting kofte :)

    Inga your cardigan is magnificent! I’ve never done any colour work but your cardigan amazing! I agree with you weather wise I’m only across the North Sea from North East UK 🇬🇧 and it’s always jumper weather in in summer I still carry one as you never know! Love the hats especially the orange yarn! Happy holidays ! Have fun in the sun! Xx 😘

    You are such an amazing knitter Inga. Your Kofte is so beautiful! Your work is just stunning. 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
    I’m on my second week of radiation on my forehead. Brought plenty of knitting, crochet and cross stitch because as you probably know, radiation therapy takes only about 15 min. Of your day so I have a lot of time on my hands in the motel room for the week.

    You should try British Merino, some of which comes from the Falklands. I am sure this would be soft and gentle enough for your delicate skin. Nice hat and shawl, enjoyed the beginner knitting tips.👍😀

    Hi Inge....one Christmas holiday knitting plan that I follow....one person gets a gift each year....it rotates. That way I have one item to make for Christmas and I try and make it super special for the person. That too might work for you! Thanks for sharing all your lovely items and your world. So enjoy listening to you. xo

    Your Kofte is beautiful the colour choice is really nice, I’ve never tried colourwork but yours is a real inspiration. Your half and half is really lovely, the mustard is so pretty. We recently bought a hybrid car as electric cars in the uk are not as supported. Our car does not need to be plugged in as it charges the battery itself, we are very pleasantly surprised at how little fuel we need to now use. Have a wonderful break in Turkey, stay safe love and hugs xx

    Lindsay Buroker has a lot of her audiobooks on UA-cam, they're urban fantasy with a lot of humor, I've really enjoyed them. I had to watch the beginning of your video twice just to look at your beautiful sweater some more.

    In russian we also have such a word, i mean kofta (i don't know how it's written in norwegian but russian word in english i'd spell like this). We use it for all kinds of warm things with long sleeves, not just knitted ones)) just nice to hear a similar word) Love your kofta, Inga, huge amount of work. It's really beautiful!

    Your kofte is amazing! Very inspiring. I learned to knit continental using your videos and I found them so helpful! I always find that stitches bunching up on my right needles to be my limiting factor. I blame my short thumb, it has a hard time pushing the stitches along. :)

    Hi! Thank you for sharing more of your projects and knitting motivations. It's always fun to see what other crafters create.
    If you are looking for free audiobooks, check with your public library (they may also have an app).
    During the early stages of the pandemic, many libraries (including mine 🇨🇦) added lots of titles to their inventory.
    Honestly, this free resource saved my sanity! I love going to the library but sometimes life makes it hard to do so.
    Enjoy your vacation, your knitting and quality time with your significant other :) See you later in September

    I have yet watched a podcast of yours that I have not enjoyed. The wind was not a big thing for me since I do my handwork outside in the summer and this summer it has been pretty windy but still enjoy myself. I love everything you show us but am very fond of hats and shawls. Thank you for sharing. Oh I am from America and I even enjoy it when I heard some children having fun in the background.

    Your hats are beautiful and I love how your kofte turned out! It's amazing :) Definitely worth a lot of pride from the whole process and the lovely result. Thank you for showing us how you knit colorwork and catch your floats in an earlier episode. I found it super helpful and I tried it with some Latvian mittens and they turned out well, because of your tips! I'm now really loving colorwork. :) As far as podcasting, thank you for sharing and leaning into the bravery of trying new things and putting yourself out there. It can be scary and vulnerable, but you're doing something beautiful and pushing joy into the world. I hope you feel loved and appreciated and know there's no pressure to do a particular thing. We're here for you and enjoy what you do ❤

    I did notice the sound of the wind in your last podcast, but was so mesmerized by your background that it never even occurred to me to complain about something so insignificant. I loved your kofte and can only wish that I was as talented (courageous?) as you so that I’d have the confidence to attempt such a thing. Enjoy your time off with your friends and family and stay safe.
