Skateboarding at 44 years old... I just got caught up having fun skating this week, so I don't have a 'proper' vlog... #beginners #over40 #skateboarding
You’re doing great, you don’t have to progress daily and by putting that kind of pressure on yourself will take all the fun out of it, ironically if you go skate with the purpose of having fun then often that is where you will make progress
I think that says what I couldn't. I go out and say I'm going to try and land 'x' trick and I don't then I'm dejected. but just skating and enjoying the moment, getting warm and relaxed, that's when the magic happens. Thanks again for following !!
Recording your skating is the best thing anyone can do. I think I’m not progressing, then I look back and old footage and it’s night and day. You’ll notice yourself improving in little ways. To me it’s not about new tricks, it’s about getting better at the ones I already know 😀
Cheers for your persistance! I started skating again at age 30 (after a 12 year break). Now im almost 37 and currently helping my 34 yo girlfriend and a 39 yo work mate learning to skate. It is so nice to see what small progress they make - session by session - even though they sometimes don't really notice themselves
And you’re getting the bonus “helping people” energy!! I almost wish I had more footage of how hard it was when I started, and also something to remind me how long it took to get those basic ramp tricks.
Another great vid man, 100 percent should be proud of how far you've come and you have every right to just enjoy cruising around and doing the tricks you have on lock. 90 percent of skateboarding is just moving from A to B. Tricks are just the seasoning 👌
yes Scott. well I am still trying to do a video a week, so as much as i'd like them all to be "progress" the ones of you just having fun are that much harder to film. so in a sense that 90% is harder to put across (especially if your 90% doesn't include fs flip a pyarmid)
@@Ungracefulmovement yeah they are harder to film that's why I love my 360 camera! Just set it up and skate (although mine only does 180 now after I knocked it over 😂😭)
I hate to do these clip shows cause there’s no narrative, but I like to think why I didn’t make a full video. This week, it’s because I was having fun not making one (I think).
@@Ungracefulmovement, i love to get out for a skate as for that couple of hours my mind is clear of everything other than what I’m doing but I’m as risk of starting to skate so I can record it instead of recording because I’m skating. Maybe time i take a YT break and just enjoy the skating … 🤷🏻♂️
@@simonvidetta1976 sometimes I’ll have 2 sessions in a week that I have the energy or reason to vlog, so I get a bit of a buffer. I don’t want to make a thing out of every one, but I’ll normally get a clip if I’ve unexpectedly unlocked something (hence these clip show videos). Annnnnd I want to skate with my brother or new friends and not shove a camera in their face… I hope I’m balancing everything right.
First time back on a board last week end after 25 years. 43 yr old and trying to teach my lad how to board while teaching myself again. Literally just found this channel and now subbed. Ps it’s a great feeling being back on the board even if I’m not at good as I was, yet. lol
I'm 42, Great vid glad I found your channel , We'll be Kickflipin by 50 at least! :) My progression over the last 3 months has been slow but huge Keep Shreddin my dude !
As an adult I sometimes look back at how easy it seemed to learn some things but soon after think about how much I really did practice when you add up all the hours of playing. Play makes the journey the destination and therefore the best form of practice!
Play is a big thing we kinda lose as adults. Imposing dumb rules like not climbing trees or rolling down hills. I guess we just have to allow it sometimes. Thanks for watching 🙌🏻
YEA! that ollie over had me hyped! Also im not a proponent of micro dosing but there might be something there about being relaxed during your session that leads to more enjoyment and better results!
So, I have whatever they call a personality that thinks I you do one thing, and have a good session, you should replicate it. I’m not sure I want to mess with anything more than bananas.
Yes mate. You need to suggest a trip to London “for the kids”. I know a couple of mini ramps for you to shred. I said I’d do something at 1k subs, but idk about the pressure to do that now.
Great content man! 41, and back at it here in Denmark as well! 🙏 Allways progress as long as we get on the board! 🤜🏼🤛🏼 btw! I’ve had great progress when I’m conscious about being relaxed on the board. Lower body AND upper! Did wonders! Kind of faking being good! 😂 Have fun man! 👍🇩🇰
Not breaking your neck is progress mate. I am similar I give myself a hard time when I don’t learn new stuff or feel like I’m going backwards. I know I am getting better but it’s slow. It’s about fun at the end of the day so as long as you’re having fun that’s all that matters. Or at least that’s what I tell myself! Easy to give advice innit! 😅 Whenever I step on a board I’m scared and it takes time to warm but when the power meter is up I feel ok. Similar struggles though with anxiety at parks and all that jazz. Everyone has to learn right.
Subbed! This is very inspirational content! I’m 35 and just picked up a street-style board after just doing some casual longboarding once a year or so. Getting pretty comfortable with reverts, kickturns and rolling of curbs so far. My biggest goals is to ollie up a curb and tackle that coping somehow.
@@Puddertoget videos really. I really started just putting a clip on instagram when I learned something, then could see how far I’d come a year later. Helps when you think you are struggling to know just how far you’ve come.
Because I’ve made a decision to post on UA-cam it exacerbates it a bit, but that’s my own cross to bear. I love being able to smash around a park whether I do a ‘trick’ or not and sometimes just going home exhausted and smiling is reward enough.
@@Ungracefulmovement exactly man, that’s all I do when I skate. I’m 21 and can just about kickflip and hit a few grinds on the coping, but that’s all I need.
So many cool parks there! Here (Budapest) we have spots for the quite advanced, so not showing off in these often yet, at least for now. Last week 6 days out of 7 skated (personal record). Today found a nice parking lot where finally could practice more poweful drop-offs from a higher curb with the front two and with all four wheels, too - both first try succeded, great vibes. Waitin' for next video!
first view from 🇭🇺? The car park is an essential spot. I wish I could do something on ‘the street’ but they are always challenging. Any good skate parks there?
@@Ungracefulmovement Definitely not the first view, and this is my fourth comment, quite a progress isn't it? :D As for parks here, until recent years we didn't have many dedicated spots for skating, nowadays the situation is somewhat better, but there are still too many municipal wangling (is this the correct word?), low quality orange ramps shit, which generally tends to rot out in 2 years or so. We would need more good quality concrete park here... Anyway, many pumptracks been built - EU projects - kind of weird... But also love shredding the streets. Could I ask how many times do you skate a week, and what part of the day?
Stoked that you are loving the video! Thanks for watching 🙌🏻🙌🏻. You know I’m going to say you just have to get out and do it if you’re able. Early mornings to escape the crowds, lessons or friends if you want support… you’ve got this. Oh… and damn! What a sneaker collection.
Cheers. I might have to take skating drunk as progress tbf. The rest were kinda those things that you don't go out to do, but they sort of unlock through confidence and playing.
