    Question for you. With hitting the ground running right out of the gate on a new barrel, with the common knowledge of barrels speeding up around 150-200 rounds. With your load that's already shooting one hole, how long do you leave it there before you personally start to tweak the powder charge due to velocity change? if you have a new barrel with a new caliber, do you need to burn 150 shots before starting load dev?

    Have to put it in context... these high quality barrels are not same as the mass produced factory barrels on hunting rifles

    John what's your opinion on the Hart RAD 2a system. I've been talking about Jason Avila about a stock and he mentioned it as an option. It seems cool but I don't know if it's worth the extra $. I'll be shooting 6.5 and 7 PRC with 1.250 straight 30" barrels. Would it be beneficial ?

    • @andrewmack7160
      @andrewmack7160 6 днів тому

      The RAD helps reduce the felt recoil. They were made for shotguns originally. It makes shooting a lot more enjoyable, especially shooting multiple matches a day. A good question to ask when thinking about it is would you rather shoot a 22 all day long or a 338? In the end it’s all a personal preference, I personally use them because I have shoulder issues and I can shoot all day long and not feel like my shoulder is beingbeing ripped off of my body.

    Beautiful looking rifle John! Looks like it will be a great shooter for you. Quick question for you, I noticed that the rifle doesn't torque on you as much when you fire it. Have you changed anything? Other than the obvious new action and barrel. Just wondering...

    • @FClassJohn
      @FClassJohn  11 днів тому +1

      No not really but keep in mind there's a variety of charges and bullet weights you may see in any given video. So in a video where you may see more torque there could've been something about it causing a little more torque.

    Was the rifle stock bedded for the new action?..

    • @FClassJohn
      @FClassJohn  10 днів тому +1

      @@diamon4u no but it’s the same footprint as the BRMXD. Even so I’ll eventually skim coat the new actions.

    I've always had to shoot and move my gun to line up with the point of impact. Then move/adjust the scope to original point of aim. Are these scopes settings inversed?

    • @Planeiron
      @Planeiron 11 днів тому

      no you bend the barrel with the push bolt on the side of the stock then use the climomentor on the scope, the climonmentor is a small titanium bolt on the scope to move 2 prisms inside the ocular

    • @FClassJohn
      @FClassJohn  11 днів тому

      No idea. It’s been a range since around 1960 so I’m guessing it was just land although there are some areas that used to be gravel pits too.

      Good Barrel, Excellent Action. Good Smith. Just develop your load and your good to go. I've stopped break in barrels years ago. When my smith told me to stop wasting time and bullets on that process

    What about fire form brass ? New action , barrel…

    • @FClassJohn
      @FClassJohn  11 днів тому

      Fireforming brass (if really necessary for your chamber) is a separate issue. Also, a number of competitive cartridges shoot great while fire forming both in PRS or F Class but worst case some people just take an old barrel and run all their brass through it so they don't burn out a good barrel.

    i dont do anything to my barrels - f class john
    i dont change my oil - indy car driver
    why waste your time with any attempts of procuring longevity of barrel life when you get them supplied for free ? me being of the non inductable due to my not having any legendary elbows to rub or super cool icons to take me under a wing, want to do whatever i can to get the most out of a new barrel . including standing on my head shooting with my brown eye as per recommended procedure, which i have done ... more than once . yes . it works
