  • This is my favourite scene from One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest (1975). It's a perfect combination of everything that makes movies magical. The acting's so good, I thought they'd dropped Jack Nicholson amongst actual patients when I first saw it. What makes this particular scene perfect is how much it encapsulates the entire movie. Everything you need, characters, comedy, drama, conflict, is right here. It's a pitch-perfect springboard for the movie that follows.

    Love William Redfield, very underrated actor, made some great radio plays too. My favourite one is Hallucination Orbit, I know it by heart.

      He was electric in Cuckoo's Nest. Even better, when you consider what he was told on set. It's an amazing performance. I'd place Cuckoo's Nest in the top tier of ensemble casts.
