Oh yes sir. It's been such a might long time. And guess what. U sound great singing it too. I remember back in my good days. I 4ever sung that song on our porch 2gether with my favorite aunt. And I still love the song. So keep singing. Okay. May God bless us all.Amen ♥️
I'm on a jag about this song and I wanted to hear it sung by a man so I've been listening to all covers of it on the list and yours is the only one I could find. I thank you for singing it and letting me hear it. I really liked it and now I'd sure like to hear it with the backgrounds and all instrumentation.
I wish I had recorded my band playing it. We enjoyed performing it, but only played it together 2 or 3 times before, unfortunately, some band members developed health conditions rendering them unable to perform anymore. It's a reality of experienced, but aging musicians. Hopefully some younger guys take the baton and run with it.
Thanks for listening. I think Barbara Lewis sings this in the key of C, but I had to lower it a step (age has caught up with my vocal range). If you want to play it in C, just transpose it up a step. Chords would basically be a mix of Cmaj7, Dm7, Em7, and G7, instead of those in the tutorial. You can throw in the major and minor 9ths when necessary.
Maaaan, you killing it with that organ/synthesizer.I love/listen to ALL forms of music=Rock,Soul,Country,Pop,Rap,BUT nothing beats a MaN or Woman emoting about current /or pAst loves and the sounds produced live=chilling.Could YOU please cover the castaways If our love is true and city of fools with YOUR musical acumen,I know it will be Slamming.Thank U for ALL that I Do!
aye man I love this song Ive literally probably have heard it over 100 times over the span of years. Seeing your video at first glance I didn't think you would do a good job, but you nailed it brother. Good tone all the way through and you sang with soul respectively all the way through . Good job man keep up the good work :) Also thanks for the inspiration brotha
Thanks for the compliment. We were all from Philadelphia or the surrounding suburbs. That video is from 2017. Me prepping for a rehearsal. The band has gotten up there in age now. Three of the 5 have stopped playing. Father Time isn’t always kind.😕
Wonderful song and you really did a great job with it; for a white guy 😂, just kidding. I really love that bold Hammond Organ riff, that you played perfectly.
oh interesting you changed it to Bb since the original is in key of C but it sounds spot on I didn't even notice at first haha like I said before, keep up the good work! A good singer knows their range and where they sound good and I can tell you adjusted it for a reason nice!!
Yes, I had to change the key. When I was under 50 years old I could have sung it in C. Not any more. We lose range with age. I’ve learned to pay attention to my limitations. BTW, it’s nice to have musicians comment. Thanks.
I like the song. You did a good job. I will be buying a new piano. I've never had one. Since I was 5 or 6 I loved the piano. My aunt had one and could play. What pianos are you using?
Thanks for the compliment. The keyboard on the bottom is the Yamaha YPG-235. It has 73 semi-weighted keys, is light weight, portable, and is reasonably priced. The Yamaha on the top is only 61 keys, and I typically use it for adding brass, strings, or guitar parts when playing at gigs. I used it in this video only for the volume pedal to accentuate the organ riff; otherwise I only needed the bottom keyboard. 61 keys aren't enough to play many songs using both hands. I've used a variety of makes and models of keyboards and have come to appreciate Yamaha's quality. If you buy a full 88 key piano, the weight and the price go up quite a bit.
I'm playing this in the key of Bb. There are versions in B and in C on the internet that you would just transpose up a half or full step. I just tried to paste my chord & lyric sheet above...just click SHOW MORE. It doesn't format the same, but it should help. The chords are basically Bbmaj7 Cm7 Dm7 Cm7 back to Bbmaj7. Often I throw in a Bbmaj9 and Dm9 to add some variety.
Glad it helped. I tend to improvise a little each time I play something, so they're usually not identical each time I play them. I figure most songs by ear, and make lyric and chord sheets (with notes) that I use as a guide.
ldmmusic58 nice, is it possible to get a quick video on you actually pressing the keys that way i can see which exact notes are being played, as idk how to read music quite yet.
@@ldmmusic58 imperfection does not override your emotional attachment to the song. One of my favorite songs is brick by ben folds five which is not the best vocals but I could feel his emotion with every word.

great keyboard but If you did the vocals raw it would be bitchin
