After converting pounds to kilos my head exploded. All of that kit plus food is less than 6kg and in a 30L pack!. I started fastpacking and struggle to stay below 10kg total! Post more videos of you on the trail. Ta.
Really great video! Thanks for making :D I also have the Ultimate Direction Fastpackher30 which is pretty great. I have a Terra Nova Laser Compact 2 tent which squishes down really small and the Tyvek stuff is amazing and super compact. I've not actually run with my pack yet, just did some camping and through hiking and my issue was always with trying to have enough space for food and change of clothes for longer journeys. I had the ambition to run but should've probably just taken a larger backpack and conceded I was just going to walk. I like how you use the pocket spaces! I always try to use the zip pocket for first aid things and toilet paper but then it ends up taking space in the inside big compartment, the stretchy pocket I need to utilize more and take advantage of so thanks for showing me that! :) Also that I should probably try out polls finally haha I don't know why I've been so resistant to using them. For anyone on a budget, I found my tent on ebay in great condition and like half the retail price so it's worth looking around for secondhand stuff if the cost of ultralight gear has been putting you off from trying fastpacking/through hiking :)
Thank you for sharing your thoughts! Something that you may want to try is to take the back padding out of your pack. I found it more comfortable and saved a little room. Take it for a practice run and see how it feels. I also juat started using poles this year and have found those help on the uphills because I can keep a faster cadence. I power hike the uphills.
The 40 could work too. That is what my husband got now to try fastpacking. I could have also used the extra room when I went in the snow and had to bring some warmer clothes. The 30 works great for summer though.
Great question! When I researched tents, there was hardly any difference in weight between a 2 person or 1 person tent, and I didnt have poles at the time to get one of those lightweight tents that use poles. A 2P tent is handy for when it has stormed and I was able to fit my pack inside with me. I've also been able to take a friend who's new to fastpacking with me so she could try it and not have to invest in her tent. She Is hooked now, and will get her own tent. :)
Please don't take this the wrong way...But shouldn't you at least take at least one clean set of underwear & socks to change into whilst the other ones have been washed and are drying? I would have 1 pair on, 1 pair drying and 1 spare pair. (socks & U/pants only).
This is an awesome gear loadout! Amazing that you run long distance with 18 pounds!! Inspirational❤
Thanks so much!
Sounds great! I would put my tent in last not first.
logic is because you dont have to take everything off to put the tent?
❤❤ good load out. I can’t wait to try this
Have fun!
Thanks for the video. I've been thinking I'd like to start fastpacking and it was very useful to see how you organise your backpack
I'm glad it was helpful. Go for it!!

Great video but I think the 40 would be a better size perhaps?

What is the weight?
why 2 p tent instead of 1? saving maybe you can save grams and space

Haha nope - that is pretty standard.
