Im so happy they're keeping E.T. it's such a charming, lovely ride
The urban legend behind the E.T. staying open is that Steven Spielberg has some kind of contract with Universal to keep that ride open. I'd like to see it remain and get refurbishment for many years to come like Disney has done with some of its original rides. E.T. as far as I'm aware is the only remaining opening day ride at Universal Studios Florida - everything else has been replaced.

@@CancelHappiness That was the true magic of universal. When they had movie sets, practical effects, and even live actors on ride to immerse you into being in a scene of a movie. Nowadays, that magic is lost. Gen z have no idea how truly special the og universal park was back in the day.

PSA, if you have not watched Puss in Boots: The Last Wish... WATCH IT! It's a fantastic stand-alone sequel that's way better than it has any right to be.

The og park really needs another big ticket attraction.
I think Universal did say they're going to improve the original Universal Studios Florida park after they're done building Epic Universe. About time too, that park really needs some TLC. The DreamWorks Land is just the beginning, I hope.
A lot of rumors are going around lately about Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit getting replaced. While I do like that ride, if replaced, it better be a roller coaster of the same or greater scale. Both Fast and Furious and Jimmy Fallon rides should be replaced with real dark rides - or maybe the Fast and Furious building can be made taller and expanded to accommodate a hybrid indoor/outdoor roller coaster? Because F&F is just begging to be made into a roller coaster and they're doing just that in the Hollywood park. Lastly, the Fear Factor stage has been abandoned for ages and there's no show to put in there, so more space for another ride? Also the Simpsons' days at USF might be numbered if Universal doesn't want to pay Disney to continue using the IP.
@@cyclicmusings2661 Yup that's what I've been saying. The og universal needs some TLC. The last major exciting big ticket ride was gringott's. Whereas IOA got hagrid's and velocicoaster, arguably the 2 best rides in the entire resort. I can't believe I actually can say that I currently like disney's hollywood studios' ride lineup more than og universal's.
I know I would LOVE this as a kid. Universal had a Curious George playground and other such little kids zones like Barney previously and I loved those as a kid. This just seems like an upgrade of those.
Is it great? No
Is it way better than it was before?
Absolutely.
I'm just happy money, time and resources went into improving Studios. Hopefully there will be more to come
It is kinda weird that one DreamWorks IP gets an entire LAND at a brand new theme park opening next year and then literally any other DreamWorks IP at the resort gets scrunched into this little land. King Fu Panda and Shrek are absolutely deserving of above average dark rides.
I think the DreamWorks land is off to good start. I love the Donkey animatronic.
I like that ET Adventure sign! That Donkey puppeteer looks cool. I'm into it. I do miss the Fivels Water Slide
Donkey was fun. Good to see they have engaging actors.
Loved the whole interaction with the Shrek character actors and the donkey, they were great!
W! I honestly think this is a great addition to Universal with all the major changes I just hope Studios gets the major attraction it deserves one day.

This land looks like it’s straight out of a Legoland park when it comes to quality not terrible, but not up to what Universal should be doing

I feel they didn't want to commit to a more serious, ground up land as this is a temporary 5-10 year overlay.
A bandaid until they decide what to do with the surrounding areas (ET, and especially the Simpsons.). Then in 5-15 it will get a more ground up redo. Likely incorporating lessons learned from their mini kids parks that will have opened by then.
I mean thats also kinda the issue with theming rides after movies. The movies become old and often fall out of popularity unless youve chosen the right ones. I mean the studios could also keep milking the brand with additional movies and content but that more often than not leads to bad products which tarnishes the franchise.
Either way some of the franchises they went for in this land are already pretty old. Shrek as a franchise is over 20 years old, Kung Fu Panda is over 15 years old, Trolls is the newest one, and even then it has one of the most mixed receptions out of any dreamworks' franchises.
It's nice to see a refresh in the area, but the Curious George play area with the air cannons and foam balls was so much better.

The first honest vlog I’ve seen. Most have been heaping praise on the land, but I agree with you guys, it looks ok. But do think they are doing the IPs a disservice by universal’s more recent standards- I guess all the budget is sitting with Epic for now. It definitely needs a solid dark ride to anchor the land but not an ET replacement!!!

This is a bandaid overlay for now because I remember universal acknowledged that there were updates coming once epic opens (which makes sense) I could see 1/3 of usf getting shut down after epic opens for expansions
I think they got a lot of projects coming up for both legacy parks once Epic opens. They didn't want to break the bank on this, but they needed to do something for kids badly and quickly. I do agree and think eventually they will circle back and add a dark ride once simpsons is gone.
It definitely seems like they had a budget they had to stick by that this was all they could get approved

This looks brilliant. Although I do think the Caterbus on Trollercoaster could do with a little revamp, I mean, the way it looks is definitely not pleasant to kids.
Universal called Serengeti Flyer a carnival ride. They might as well get a gyro swing and call it Shrekking ball. Shrekcellent. Favorite part of stir fry: chicken, broccoli, rice. Is an attraction lineup ever complete?
They honestly should've done a KFP dark ride on the level of Spiderman & Transformers.

It's so weird that Universal would say troller coaster is a "high-speed coaster" when it goes like 22 mph. They also say sudden and dramatic acceleration, which at this point is just overestimating. Does the ride move at all? If yes, ITS HIGH SPEED. Does the ride turn AT ALL? Then its dramatic turning.

I feel like this is something Six Flags would do not universal really disappointed especially how much they are doing with Epic Universe. Just my opinion.

I’m curious to see after Epic Universe Opens on what ride/land they decide to upgrade. I predicted Simpsons land first due to Disney buying Fox but I really hope they do Fast & Furious. I want the fast and Furious ride to be an indoor launch Intamin hot racer and they add a moving station to help with capacity.
If I were you, Official Disney did not want to have adult sitcom land at all, like Springfield, the home of The Simpsons.

It's better than it was but I don't think "it's for kids" is a meaningful statement in terms of value when you're down the street from top tier family friendly parks. So if we know it's possible to make experiences that are enjoyable by adults and kids both it feels kinda cheap to just throw out some lazy stuff and say "it's for kids". Just my take of course
To add onto that, compare it to even the nearby Sesame Street Land at SeaWorld Orlando which is way more interactive, has more rides, and more theming. I feel like that’s even a better example of how a kids area can be pretty awesome.

well when Universal has set a standard of theming and then dips below where that bar has been set, it is no surprise it leads to some criticism

uhm, it's based off of availability for us. we literally got to loch ness the first day we physically could and got a video out a day later. dreamworks land hasn't even opened for passholder previews, we got lucky that a friend of ours took us for employee previews. how is that late? we can't be everywhere at once, and we also have things in our personal lives to attend to outside of this channel.
Studios is getting it's ass kicked. It's the red headed stepchild of all Universal parks now. I realize it's obviously a kids area but that's fuckin pitiful
