Orcs must die unchained single player was so good I'm surprised it wasn't launched as it's own game. Very smart making this game peer to peer so the game never has to die wish all games would do this.
4:21 Man don't remind me, I miss that game so much. Having rogue-lite elements in Deathtrap is all nice and dandy but OMDU's Heroes and Skill Trees added such perfect *controlled* variety that I doubt Deathtrap will scratch that itch sadly.
Omg at first I thought it was just 4 characters, but now that I know there will be 7 characters to choose from I'm very hyped!! I loooooved OMDU and I'm super happy to hear about this game!! I'd love to see a brawler like Temper or Tundra from the OMDU game, but the fact that there is variety is enough for now

I wouldn't even be mad if they just ripped some heroes straight from OMDU and repackaged them as heroes for OMDD. Matter of fact, I'd be thrilled to see some returning names.
I recently got into Valve's new game - Deadlock. I used to play a lot of attack heroes (Hogarth, Blackpaw, Sir Winston..) in OMDU, so Deadlock scratches that itch for me.
I've followed OMD since the first one. I held some top scored in OMD1 and OMD2 for a long time. I bought the Founders Pack for OMDU. I was gutted when OMDU was forced to change from Siege under pressure from people who complained it wasn't OMD3, and to have it struggle because that wasn't the intended vision. I hope this will be a true realisation of that co-op experience now it's been built from the ground up with that in mind! I'm hyped!
So a bit like a roguelite like the mode added to omd 3 ? edit: omd unchained is still playable, tho that is thanks to the great effort of long time community fans.
Hope theres a trap progression system like omdu, like levels for the traps, and selection of trap perks like "doesnt activate with small units" and similar. I remember in omdu those perks were done with not only skulls, but other parts like iron, arcane sphere and other stuff
Looks very promising. As a old omdu fan myself Im wondering if there is some sort of copyrights that doesnt allow the hero pool from omdu to be used in the last games. There were some very unique hero concepts and it would be nice to see them again!

Loved Orcs Must Die Unchained, the PvP was phenomenal. Really excited for the rouge like stuff in this one, that feels like a natural evolution of OMD. And the lack of campaign moving to a selection of maps actually makes a lot of sense too. Hope its got a good progression system, as a longtime OMD fan, this looks pretty fun! p.s plz bring back Zoey from OMD!U Hope this takes off with the online co-op crowd!
Ah yeah i remmbered Orcs must die Unchained. it was a fun time in the beta. I made myself the name as the "Glorious Rat king" only playing as the kobold king. was kinda wacky but still fun times and lots of nice plays. I am extied to play Deathtrap maybe ill get some more people to try it out.
I hope you guys add more enemies army than just basic orcs I still miss the Asian themed army in omd unchained And the demons & lizard from omd3 were super cool. I hope to see more of them and some old ones ! :)

I think the pressure of limited preparation time between waves was good. It added to skill expression and made good mobility and platforming remain important throughout the entire match. Especially now that there will be 4 players, having players who want to place traps in the most efficient location, down to the pixel, they’ll likely cause contention with players who want to keep the flow of combat. I wouldn’t be opposed to longer time limits in between waves but none at all seems like a mistake.
absolutely can not wait and the fact that its just scramble mode but with more which is the only thing it was lacking has me so excited and you mentioned Risk of rain 2 as one of your inspirations which is one of the best rogue likes around (or at least it used to be).
The Time Pressure between waves was actually an important part of the game; it prevented trolls from stalling games. It also forced players to develop tactical skills and judgement under pressure. I am not sure removing it entirely will do much good. OMD Unchained became a potentially great game AFTER the PvP and moba elements were removed from it entirely-- there is a lesson in that. And let's face it: OMD 3 was a disappointment. Still, there is potential here. I am looking forward to Deathtrap. Also, if the game is co-op oriented, then you NEED an extensive single player campaign, if only to teach players how to be effective in the co-op. We need to have a sense of permanent accomplishment and growth while still keeping a level one player somewhat balanced against a max level character-- and that kind of balance is hard to do. I wish you guys luck!
randomized levels have me worried. does that mean there is no progression from tiny first level to giant multi-lane endgame map? or there are pools of maps with different difficulty?

OMD walked so Fortnite [Save the World] could run into a design wall and turn into a Battle Royale instead when they couldn't figure out how to make it fun. My biggest gripe in OMD3 as a Stadia/PC player, was that the trap book interface operated 3 different ways depending on how you accessed it, and you couldn't redistribute your skulls before a mission without exiting to the menu. I guess I'd also have liked a glossary about how the damage types worked, even if you're not going to show us hard numbers... Yes an improved trap book and a bestiary. That would be great - maybe even an official wiki if you don't want to do it in game.

Every single one of us that played Unchained loved the design and the Characters and a ton other stuff. Sooo bring back those heros back one by one please :P. The Game Director was a big Unchained fan himself, so he's been implementing a bunch of what was loved from there into this game, while still making this game its own experience.
3:30 I'll be honest, once I heard this won't have a linear campaign, my heart sank. This doesn't sound like its a game for me. I loved the main line games mostly for the story, game play was fun too but it was the next story segment that kept me coming back. It was my main issue with Unchained, tutorial was kind of fun with its simple little story, but then you'd finish that and it was just gameplay, no story, and I lost interest fast. I tried several times to get back into it, as the game evolved, but by the end it was pretty clear to me that with out a great cohesive story line, OMD loses most of its charm for me. I think I also just in general like "solving the puzzle" of the map, finding the optimal trap lay out and watching it do its thing is super satisfying, so the more open ended trap structure where there wasn't necessarily a best stratedgy on each map of unchained was less appealing to me. It sounds like this game is following in that vein, encouraging creative and variety over optimization and find the intended solution. I'm not mad this is going to exist, but sad I'll likely have to wait longer for OMD 4.
Got max , good good, fans will always want Max and Gaby , the game has a more rogue like feel good good, these are good things. But yes please consider the 2 vs 2 mode , Unchained was good and (because you worked on it) was made to waste most of its development time trying to MOBA fy it , just to have a completely new game mode done at the end... if you start with that fun basic mode now you can have it be great.

What made me and my friends lose interest in every single one of these types of games: harder maps have more entrances, wich results in everyone playing their own game, not a coop one. PLEASE make endgame maps, with fewer entrances than players. Or at least keem em close so we can actually play together.
