These people have an average IQ in the 70s. They are basically toddlers and do not understand that hanging on the side of a sub-sonic jet is not smart.
Torture by the taliban is not inevitible and you can always kill yourself in less painful ways than what I just described above or falling to your death with about a minute to think about the disastrous mistake you made.

My brother died in 2011 fighting the Taliban in the British Army, what an absolute waste, I'm absolutely livid after he laid down his life for the Afgan people and it's back to when he arrived
The whole thing is a tragedy. An unbelievable waste... of lives. Anyone with half a brain knew it was obvious this would happen the minute the US decided to pull all their troops out. Such a heartless decision. Although I don't know what the alternative was?

The problem was it's historical geo politics , religion and social Physcology at play all at once . the west succeeded in the first main mission to get rid of the Alqaeda 9/11 terrorist s from the Taliban / Mujahedeen ranks and the country (USA first friends Vs Soviets during the cold war ) which was why we got Involved at first , but with that came the enevitable more important 2nd mission without western countries militaries consent like the first mission of ridding the Taliban ideology and pro Alqaeda supporters was ending the ruling way of life of clan terrority and society that ruled Afghans for 100s of years ,in the name of giving a western style
democracy back to its people that the western world like to be a big promotor of . However changing beliefs , religious strict right wing Islamic views in afghan people doesn't happen and never would in 20 years there , it took the Romans who taught us to live today how we do 100s of years and even the British empire also . an endless money supply , weapons can't defeat a belief or ideology without political or mass civilian society support to retrain their psychology of how they want to live differently.
If deep down they support Islamic law and Sharia etc and morally corrupt with their leaders who they pay indirectly to keep their Taliban sympathy lifestyle . an equivalent is of ultra conservative right wing Christians like some Americans who are strong defenders of anti central govt in their lives and pro freedom for all their amendments And no attempts at gun control reform will make them give up their constituencal rights they lived by for 300 years also and believed in , and the NRA who pay money to USA government will keep those Americans happy anyway .

They were left with a fully equipped army. Built from the ground up. Having every from chefs, logistics, mechanics, pilots, officers, artillery, tanks, humvees , helicopters, aircraft.
Night vision, thermal, Long range optics. Drones.
Mines. Mortars.

When you stop to think that most commercial aircrafts fly at speeds of up to 460-575 mph, whereas a car on the motorway goes up to around 60 mph, there's no way they would have been able to hold on. Distressing. God rest their souls.

I watched ‘The Falling Man’ last night.
It’s a film exploring the image of the man falling from the World Trade Centre after the 9/11 attacks.
Seeing the images of those stowaways hurtling to their death from that plane trying to escape Kabul is a poignant echo of that desperation.
The world really does work in horrifying ways.

These are the same people who couldn’t be bothered fighting for their own country. Now Taliban has taken over they either assimilate or they get shot ( bit like The Borg ). Afghanistan has become this generation's Vietnam in that we've been there for so long that we don't get why we're there and had so many die on both sides most of us don't support it anymore but there's no simple way to end it. Also, how President Joe Biden feels about Afghanistan now is probably how President Gerald Ford felt about Vietnam in 1975 given our nation has spent so much time and money in Afghanistan but after 20 years we don't have anything to show for it.
