This is very true! I have some nutters commenting about deer musk on my musk fragrance video sometimes and they are always saying things like "oh synthetics aren't real musk" I don't think people realise, for one the cruelty involved, but also the cost savings and diversity that synthetic chemistry has enabled. This explosion in modern perfumery since the 1800s is only because of that. I feel like the 2000s and 2010s were the time when the price of fragrance Vs the cost of living was at its most favourable but I'd love to know for sure! I haven't tried any other from Balenciaga other than Florabotanica and Rosabotanica but it does seem more than a coincidence that a note as rare as carnation is used in a few of the house's fragrances 🤔 I had never really noticed the ivy so strongly in LL as I did the other day. Scandal by Night is addictive and sensuous. Balenciaga Paris is so interesting, I love carnation in fragrances!! On my February tray will be La Belle, Pink Sugar Berry Blast, VS Bombshell Passion, VS Sugar Fleur, Yes, I Am Cacharel.

🤣 yes always good to ask 🤣 yes, me too really, I don't overspray in general, especially at work, so I was quite surprised that Magda could smell me from about 5m 🙊 but she did assure me that she liked it and wanted to try it and she's not shy of saying when she doesn't enjoy something 😂 Chanel Eau Fraîche is pretty 😊 and clean, I can imagine receptionists highly value those qualities in clients. The first parfum that i fall in love from Frederic Malle was -Music for a While. With sweet ananas,lavander. This parfum took the heart also from my hairdresser thats she hate parfums.This was a big surprise that she completed me for the first time for a parfum. (And i own more than 100)

Alien really is such a iconic scent profile. I remember them saying you’re either an alien girl or an angel girl, and that held true in this house. That Jasmine and Amber is so beautiful together.

Yes! I'll admit that I was an aquatic fragrance type of person in my teens and early twenties but I think the trends were more than way around the late nineties and early 2000s. 🥰
Oh! Your birthday month! 💚💚 I was trying to figure out if you were Aquarian or Pisces, and guessed Pisces before you said from your beautiful eyes. It is smart identifying what theme or note you want for the month, before selecting your tray. I did that last month around the chocolate note and had a very reasonable tray of about 15 scents. My February tray, however, is based around my favorite notes of rose, violet and sandalwood and so is absurdly out of control!

Rouge Saray has had some very polarised opinions, it makes me think it will be incredibly interesting. 😊 I agree with you. Nowadays designer seems to be a sea of cashmeran and vanilla. I really want to smell something offbeat again. The one line I appreciate right now is Givenchy L'interdit but again, so many along the same lines there. The one brand going their own way sometimes is Hermes. I do appreciate Dior and Chanel sometimes too but they feel very very safe. We need the old Thierry Mugler back. 🥰
I really haven't tried the TF orchid line in a long time. I should retry them. I have 2 old Aliens, I am not sure if I can tell which one is which. 1 is for sure 10 years old and the other is newer. Lola sounds pretty.
I find the Aliens smell very good up until about 2020. People seem to say the oldest bottles smell better but I don't notice too much difference until 2020. Velvet Orchid I got after Black orchid and I remember feeling underwhelmed but then I wore it several times in a row and found it magical ✨

We’ve had a really balmy winter but we’re headed towards a cold snap. The lows are going to get as cold as -32C and the highs around -20C. I need the promise of spring and a few cozy fragrances to keep me going. I always think of February as a “Blue” month. My favourite at this time of year is l’Heure Bleu.

Ooh I recently won a competition with Memo and had to choose a fragrance, Winter Palace was on the shortlist but I've never smelt it, it just sounded very nice. Is it very citrussy? Does the tea pop? 🥰
I got recently excited about parfumes again and wanted to find myself a birthday scent, too. So I went to the nearest Kicks to try all the lovely perfumes I had heard about here on UA-cam, but I was a bit surprised. I realised that finding a favourite is not going to be as easy as I thought. First of all a lot of the popular perfumes smell surprisingly similar. Secondly turns out I really, really dislike some note or a combination of notes that a lot of the popular perfumes have. The worst is Si, followed by Libre Intense, L'Interdit, Paco Rabanne Million etc. I searched Fragrantica to find out what it is but could not figure it out. The problem is this tangy kind of a smell, I thought it might be the citruses but some fragrances that don't have citruses have it. There was not one note common to all if them. My husband loved Libre Intense the most and I'm like my nose is afraid of this fragrance.
Could it be the bases? Perhaps amber / which in a lot of these will be based around an ambrox derivative. They all have that, whether listed or not. I hope you figure it out. I would advise trying something offbeat like something from Hermes, those are an extremely different designer style, you might not like them, but it likely won't have this vibe (although Barénia is a bit odd and does have a tonne of cashmeran). The fragrances also all have orange blossom or citrus top notes. To me orange blossom in designer fragrances is done very very badly... If you think that is the issue, I would try something like a Lush fragrance, perhaps 1000 kisses deep or something even more citrussy and see if you smell the same issue.

The Guerlain is beautiful but we are topsy Turvey here and it’s a very humid cyclonic summer and I mainly just wear Green Tea - I don’t particularly like the first 5 minutes but the next few hours is a quite complex mix of watery flowers, citrus and light grasses. A true gem

As I said in one of your previous video, I gave it another chance and it’s not me anymore so it’s gone. My birthday is at the end of July, it’s too far!! I've never tried the Eau Fraîche, if they aren't for you, then that's a positive to resell them. You probably made someone else very happy too! Good morning Claire. I’m travelling a bit this month, so taking samples with me instead of bottles. I’ve cleared off my perfume tray as the temps have been 35-39C so not leaving anything out in that. My birthday is in April, Autumn here, so we can have quite warm to slightly cool. Will have to wait to see what the weather does at the time. Pisces, so you are in the second half of Feb? I checked the date on my travel size and it's 9 years old, so it's possible that the grapefruit top notes has just gone 🤷♀️ however it doesn't smell off at all, just quite different to the bottle that I tested in store in 2023/24. I will keep trying it. There are aspects that I enjoy and other bits that I'm not sure about. I feel like I've tried Rose Cherie from my friend Lizzie, I will have to look to see if I have the sample and remind myself. 🤔 Thanks for watching 🥰

I am a little, unsure about the shorter wider bottle being the original Lola, and then the taller bottle being the Lola Velvet. Do you know more about this?
The shorter wider bottle was the 100ml, but Lola Velvet only came in 50ml I think 🤔. My understanding was that it was just a limited edition bottle, not necessarily a different fragrance, but I might be wrong. I've not smelt Velvet. 🥰
It is discontinued! It takes a bit of finding, I searched for 2 years to find a bottle. 😂 I love it. Apparently Dua makes a decent dupe. Rose talks about it, but obviously I've not tried that because Dua left the UK. 🥰

Oh! Your birthday month! 💚💚 I was trying to figure out if you were Aquarian or Pisces, and guessed Pisces before you said from your beautiful eyes. It is smart identifying what theme or note you want for the month, before selecting your tray. I did that last month around the chocolate note and had a very reasonable tray of about 15 scents. My February tray, however, is based around my favorite notes of rose, violet and sandalwood and so is absurdly out of control!

I agree with you. Nowadays designer seems to be a sea of cashmeran and vanilla. I really want to smell something offbeat again. The one line I appreciate right now is Givenchy L'interdit but again, so many along the same lines there. The one brand going their own way sometimes is Hermes. I do appreciate Dior and Chanel sometimes too but they feel very very safe. We need the old Thierry Mugler back. 🥰

I really haven't tried the TF orchid line in a long time. I should retry them. I have 2 old Aliens, I am not sure if I can tell which one is which. 1 is for sure 10 years old and the other is newer. Lola sounds pretty.
I find the Aliens smell very good up until about 2020. People seem to say the oldest bottles smell better but I don't notice too much difference until 2020. Velvet Orchid I got after Black orchid and I remember feeling underwhelmed but then I wore it several times in a row and found it magical ✨
@@dr.claire.perfume I’ve made it my mission to locate and purchase Thierry Mugler fragrances that have Thierry Mugler printed instead of MUGLER. But only part bottles from resellers, that way I get to experience with the high cost. 😊
Thierry Mugler was used up to 2016 so those could be hard to find. Watch out for fakes, especially with Alien. 🥰

Gosh I've been trying lots of crazily expensive Guerlains thanks to Lizzie @roseandjones she bought Vanilla Planifolia Extrait and Pêche Mirage this week. She has a video if you haven't seen 🧐 I didn't try those, but just to give you an example 😂 Guerlain release so many fragrances, I wish there was a counter close to me again so I could try them ALL. Patchouli Paris does sound gorgeous, patchouli done well is a wow. 🥰
We’ve had a really balmy winter but we’re headed towards a cold snap. The lows are going to get as cold as -32C and the highs around -20C. I need the promise of spring and a few cozy fragrances to keep me going. I always think of February as a “Blue” month. My favourite at this time of year is l’Heure Bleu.

Ooh I recently won a competition with Memo and had to choose a fragrance, Winter Palace was on the shortlist but I've never smelt it, it just sounded very nice. Is it very citrussy? Does the tea pop? 🥰
I got recently excited about parfumes again and wanted to find myself a birthday scent, too. So I went to the nearest Kicks to try all the lovely perfumes I had heard about here on UA-cam, but I was a bit surprised. I realised that finding a favourite is not going to be as easy as I thought. First of all a lot of the popular perfumes smell surprisingly similar. Secondly turns out I really, really dislike some note or a combination of notes that a lot of the popular perfumes have. The worst is Si, followed by Libre Intense, L'Interdit, Paco Rabanne Million etc. I searched Fragrantica to find out what it is but could not figure it out. The problem is this tangy kind of a smell, I thought it might be the citruses but some fragrances that don't have citruses have it. There was not one note common to all if them. My husband loved Libre Intense the most and I'm like my nose is afraid of this fragrance.
Could it be the bases? Perhaps amber / which in a lot of these will be based around an ambrox derivative. They all have that, whether listed or not.
I hope you figure it out. I would advise trying something offbeat like something from Hermes, those are an extremely different designer style, you might not like them, but it likely won't have this vibe (although Barénia is a bit odd and does have a tonne of cashmeran). The fragrances also all have orange blossom or citrus top notes. To me orange blossom in designer fragrances is done very very badly... If you think that is the issue, I would try something like a Lush fragrance, perhaps 1000 kisses deep or something even more citrussy and see if you smell the same issue.

The Guerlain is beautiful but we are topsy Turvey here and it’s a very humid cyclonic summer and I mainly just wear Green Tea - I don’t particularly like the first 5 minutes but the next few hours is a quite complex mix of watery flowers, citrus and light grasses.

Maybe it’s just the rose. I wore BDK Rouge Smoking for my son’s birthday dinner party tonight. He’s turning 15 on the 3rd. 😍 I also decluttered Narciso Poudrée. As I said in one of your previous video, I gave it another chance and it’s not me anymore so it’s gone. My birthday is at the end of July, it’s too far!! I’ll probably buy a new peefume for the occasion anyway! 😂😂😂

Good morning Claire. I’m travelling a bit this month, so taking samples with me instead of bottles. I’ve cleared off my perfume tray as the temps have been 35-39C so not leaving anything out in that. My birthday is in April, Autumn here, so we can have quite warm to slightly cool. Will have to wait to see what the weather does at the time.

I checked the date on my travel size and it's 9 years old, so it's possible that the grapefruit top notes has just gone 🤷♀️ however it doesn't smell off at all, just quite different to the bottle that I tested in store in 2023/24. I will keep trying it. There are aspects that I enjoy and other bits that I'm not sure about. The shorter wider bottle was the 100ml, but Lola Velvet only came in 50ml I think 🤔. My understanding was that it was just a limited edition bottle, not necessarily a different fragrance, but I might be wrong. I've not smelt Velvet. 🥰

It is discontinued! It takes a bit of finding, I searched for 2 years to find a bottle. 😂 I love it. Apparently Dua makes a decent dupe. Rose talks about it, but obviously I've not tried that because Dua left the UK. 🥰

I do sometimes, especially if I'm talking about samples, but if for some reason I don't, the perfumes are always listed in the description box and the video is pretty much always timestamped too so if you are on a phone or computer, you can touch the screen and the name will appear at the bottom. 🥰
