- What do you expect from a set of $100 speakers? Probably not much. But with the Edifier R1280T speakers, you get a sleek aesthetic and impressive sound. The fact that they're only $100 is perhaps the most shocking. Let's unbox and test to see if they really live up to the hype.

This is hands down the best budget speaker review I’ve ever seen. No BS, just two dudes having fun while being impartial. Listening on headphones, I could hear when the speaker on the right was picked up and I don’t know if it was intentional, but hearing them talk in the background also gave me an idea of the dimensionality of these speakers. I’m looking to buy a pair for work. I’d love more info on the dummy head!
And here you are: ua-cam.com/video/yxMfGLnPATE/v-deo.html
8:47 Beautiful Camera Work, Excellent video ! :-)
You are hands down the most paid representative of this poor product.
@@bradli3460 So, you don't like them, big deal. You're standards are irrelevant, considering, they're only $120. WTF is an audiophile doing, with any studio speakers, under ~$300/pair, anyway? Go blow smoke, somewhere else.👍
Y'all remind me of those TV channels that no one use to watch at around 5 or 6 in the morning. I love it 😂😂
Yeah, this does seem a lot like paid telemarketing. Hmmm
@@Cyba_IT Yup, a commercial.
And if you act now we will throw in not one, not two, but 3 ninja destroyer tanto blades AND a bush whacker bowie knife!
Its like them live casino channels where they talk all night lol joking
Lol
best sound recording i've heard of a speaker being recorded and then shared on youtube. thank you for this high quality production
Thanks so much. Glad you appreciated (and hopefully benefited) from our effort. Please sub :) Cheers!
Sounds like some massive sound out of little speakers. :-)
This is some high quality stuff! I've never heard speaker testing being done as good as this. I'm definitely getting one now. Thanks!
The latest iteration of these speakers in 2020 is the R1280DB-S, which comes with better Bluetooth & a 3.5mm sub out port that automatically triggers a digital crossover for a separate dedicated subwoofer. Previously you had to pony up for the more expensive R1850DB for these features. Not anymore.
@@kkhalifah1019 I only find edifier r1280db (so without the “s”) is that normal?
Thanks
After trying both the Edifier 1280T and the 1800TIII, I can tell you that the 1280T has the perfect sweet spot. More than enough bass without sounding muddy and much clearer generally to my ears as a classical pianist.
Holy crap!!! Those speakers are amazing!! My mother got me the Audio-Technica AT-LP120XUSB Direct-Drive Turntable for Christmas and gave it to me early. She then ordered these speakers for me. Because of your demonstration, I'm VERY excited to listen to my record collection in rich, incredible sound.
Great video!!
Thanks! Can't wait to "hear" an update how you live them. Mine are now connected to my turntable as well. Beautiful!
How is the bass?
@@LukaM It’s excellent! For $99, these are stellar.
love how much you enjoy touching the moving woofer cones as much as you are good with the review mate.... you know the how to celebrate the speaker invention... good review
Sold! Thank you, I needed some speakers so I could upgrade to the newer turntable I purchased last year. Finally pulled the trigger on these, thanks for making up my mind. 🔥😁
I'm using it and very contented with its performance. :)
A pair of speakers, 2 guys, and the BEST SPEAKER REVIEW I have seen in awhile! These 2 guys are just having fun and their review just make you want to buy this Edifier. Well, I am going to buy this now! Thank God, I watched this video because I was going to buy either a Creative Labs T100 or Creative Labs T40. But, something told me to look at YT one more time and this is what I found! Thanks guys!
Aww, thanks so much Tony! I'm glad you had fun along with us! Enjoy the speakers.
I have 1 coming tomorrow, thank you for the detailed high quality review
Enjoy! We'd love to hear how you like them. Thanks for watching!
I was watching reviews all day about them trying to decide if i'll take them. I'm sold after this video :)
Base blowing his hair made my day! LOL! Amazing review. Looking forward to more.
Samuel Sawian thanks :)
I'm using Edifier C2 and I love the sound they produce, it's very balanced and the price was just so much affordable.
BEST review I've seen in ages, Outstanding! Scooted over to Best Buy and scored a pair of these ... for less than I'd pay for a decent set of headphones. Wow.
Thanks! Hope you love 'em as much as we do! Let us know how it goes!
is it that good?
i'm looking for detail + clarity + tight bass (not boomy).
I like the fact that they’re a mirrored pair. Very clever with the binaural setup!
Great review. Bought these but haven’t tried them yet now I’m excited!
These speakers sounded better than a pair of JBLs that cost upwards of $200 and have a 5 inch speaker. What I noticed was the sound was richer and like it was coming in from multiple directions and felt natural. The JBL felt punchier and felt like they were coming in from a smaller area and thus felt flatter.
I've bought three pairs of these now. The last pair for $69 on Black Friday at Amazon. In a past life (80's and 90's) I was a broadcast engineer and these hold up to JBL Studio 1 monitors every day, at about 1/5 the price. If I was still building studios I'd be happy to put these in on-air or production rooms. My dear old mother is hard of hearing so I got her a pair for her TV. She raves about them every time I visit. For computer/workdesk use these are wonderful in that they still sound very good a low volumes. There just is no better value out there right now.
Man I'm on Amazon trying to figure out if I should get these speakers and ended up liking these guys so much I watched the whole thing. Great video.
Aww thanks so much!
I love how much excited they are for reviewing these edifier speakers....
I've heard this with my Sony XM4 headsets and it was an amazing experience, thanks for that incredible production, I will buy a pair of this after watch this video. Thank a lot! Congratulations.
Oh, that's cool! Thanks so much Diego! I'm glad you enjoyed the "experience" ☺️
9:54 The Edifier is the best sounding Hair Dryer ever ! :-D
just got this speaker and it doesn’t seem to have the second half of the plug for the wall?? any help
just ordered a pair, cant wait for them to arrive
This was the most fun unboxing and review video I've ever seen!
Aww, thanks!!!
@@LinuxTechShow I browsed through your channel. While it's good your uploads are an hour long and I bet I will enjoy them to bits, please upload some shorts, based on topic coverage. They will help bring in more viewers and improve visibility as well.

Bought em yesterday. I was reading many reviews on different speakers for hours and it was almost impossible to choose. Unboxing right now. First impression is really good, I hope the sound will be decent. Will update later.
They are actually great, far better than I expected. The bass is great, high tones good as well. They're crazy good for this price imo. Also no weird weird sounds or tones coming out of boxes when they're off. Lots of cheaper speaker sets got those issues. So it's great these didn't have such issues. I'm really happy I chose these. My plan was to send them back if I didn't like the performance but they're actually great.
Best relation, Price - Quality! Excellent!
Good test and equipment. I can judge this speaker's sound. I put it on my wishlist
I just purchased these for a turntable I'm getting....can't wait!!
Perfect!!! Enjoy!
How do you like them?
I just bought a turntable and I'm looking to buy these. How do you like them?
LouG2006 me too 👌🏻
Are these better than bose companion 2 series iii..... Any advice help much appreciated
I just ordered one after watching your amazing review~~~i'm so exciting^^ Big Thanks from S.Korea
Enjoy your new speakers! We're still loving them.
Can you use these as studio monitors for music production?
love the hair bass test, you guys are great LOL

R1280t vs dayton audio mk402/mk402bt?? Can anyone whos heard them both help me out? Both the same price
Is this thing still good ? Does it have built in subwoofer or good bass? And what instrumental is played in the review?
Good job guys, it's a very useful review
Would it be loud enough to use in a backyard party?
I brought these speakers great sound and very well build, doesn't feel cheap at all.
Thanks for the note. Glad you're enjoying them!
Is this better or should i go for edifier x230? Im using it for my pc
Do these speakers have any Bluetooth sound delay/lag when people are talking on Netflix or UA-cam?
The sound and the build quality are good for me. My concern is the durability , can they last a couple of years ? Thank you for your testimony.
2 questions: are these worth getting with the bundle on Amazon or get some other speakers? And do can these hook onto walls?
A quick google search would show you that they can't be mounted on walls. I bought mine for 71 euros some months ago. The moment you touch them with your hand you can feel it's great quality product. Unless you are one of those people that jerk off to sound and aren't happy with anything unless they pay thousands for audio then it's not for you. But if you are just a dude that wants clean sound with great quality than these are great. I was so happy with them I even considered buying another pair but I already have a lot of speakers in the house...
And if you don't require everything shaking like it's earthquake then these have more than enough bass as well. For such price these are probably best speakers around that even pop in a lot of TOP lists.
I searched everywhere here in Saigon for this model and couldn't find it. I finally wound up buying the Edifier R1700BT speakers.
The cost was 2,2m VND about $95 USD ... Am using mine for editing my UA-cam channel vids, plus music. I think these speakers are amazing. When they arrived, I was surprised how heavy and substantial they feel, not at all like "computer speakers" ... and the
rich, but nice flat sound is great for dialog and they reproduce music well too. I couldn't be happier with a purchase.
good deal on the 1700BT they usually run for around 149usd.
@@zenon351 They are still going strong. They were a good budget choice for my UA-cam channel production. My audio on the channel has improved too ... I'd recommend these to anyone wanting to use them for YT video.
Are these typical pc speakers, or are they fit to be in a living room??.
I bought these speakers and I am trying to channel the sound to the head phones. I bought an 3.5mm to RCA jack and I still can't heart any sound through the head phones.
Got these off my fiancé for Xmas 2018 they have brilliant sound clarity for the size of them. And for 95 euros they were a real steal
Can plug the aux into your phone ?
@@TnoFashionHouse yep works 100%, anything with a 3.5mm socket can work with these and they sound brilliant
Just received mine from Amazon. They sound awesome!
Is the speaker able to connect mic for karaok?
These are some popular speakers, I'm seeing tons of videos and all good reviews, I ordered a pair yesterday but got the Bluetooth model(R1850DB) Can't wait to try them out
Is is good? How was your experience with them?
@@leonorpais3548 Love um Great lil speakers, makes watching movies 10×'s Better..I also got the wood stands.. Great set up now I just need a subwoofer...I like I'm because I can easily connect my phone and listen to music 🎵🎶.. But yeah only thing is if you like deep hard bass you will need the subwoofers, not sure how the more expensive ones sound but I'm guessing it's not a big difference
If you were upgrade these to the next level for my pc, what else is out there in 2020?
Just bought 1280ts and I can say that paired with the subwoofer they sound fantastic
You can add a subwoofer?!?
Just ordered my pair of R1280T! Ready to be bound with my creative sound card.
Which track is this on the test? It's dope!
Would you recommend these for a DJ who is getting warnings because im too loud? I mean, im not giving up mixing because my neighbours dont like techno, but dont want to lose my apartment either. What i need, is speakers that sound good and clear and wont lose too much frequencies when used in REASONABLE/LOW volume at evenings.
I'd say if you had these plus a good pair of headphones for mixing your low end, you could do quite well. I really enjoy the responsiveness of these speakers, and as "good but affordable" options go, I think you'd be happy with them.
what should I set the bass and treble positions in R1280t? Is there any combination that works for all the genres?
Our recommendation: Set both to 11. :P
Truly though, just find the sweet spot each time. The sweet spot will change based on how loud you're listening and what you're listening to. Eg., if listening at low volume, you'll probably want to increase the bass to fill it out. Louder volume means adjusting the highs and lows to again find the sweet spot for listening. The controls are easily accessible.
These sounds sweet! I used a a set of proper senn headphones for this and was super impressed. The thing is I have a 40-year-old NAD Series 3020 amp I want to connect these to. But these have an amp already. Any recommendations for a set of speakers like these (same good reviews, but minus a built in amp?)
they have (basically) the same speakers but passive listed on Amazon: www.amazon.com/Edifier-Passive-Bookshelf-Speakers-Built/dp/B07DM7F15C/ref=sr_1_2?keywords=edifier+passive&qid=1583524177&sr=8-2
Does it have thumping bass while watching movies
Yeah, nice speakers I actually have them for about 2 months now. In most cases they sound relatively good but sometimes I really miss the low freqs from my last 2+1. I actually ran a test and there is some kind of resonance around 200Hz and there is nothing below 45-48 Hz, but with that 4 in speaker thats just it. Other than this they sound really nice and look very good to my liking. All I would do is add a sub woofer some day :D
You need the R1850DB because it has sub pre-out. You can hook it up with an active subwoofer if you need more thump. But for me these speakers already sounded fuller.
what should I set the bass and treble positions in R1280t? Is there any combination that works for all the genres?
@@SandeepNagarkoti Setting the bass at the middle is the great setting for all genre and a slight boost on the treble (3 o'clock) setting because R1280 on stock setting or in middle setting lacks treble.
can connect 2set or 3set r1280 in one source of sound
Could you please tell me the name of the track at 10:39
there is no track..its end of video
Is the hook for Audio-Technica turntable
I bought the bluetooth equivalent from Amazon for $100. They were refurbished, but they are Amazon certified so I couldn't tell a difference of whether it was brand new or not.
Awesome review. Would you recommend them for a tv?
That's how review should be done. Great job folks. I just can't resist myself to buy these pair but I don't have any more space left on my desk. May be I should get rid of my 23 year old Yamaha bookshelf stereo system finally.
Could you please tell me the name of the track starting at 8:20 ?

Hahaha love this video! They are like kids in a candystore.
...Now to go order a new set of speakers for my PC...
Your opening comments about there "look" with price & amplification drew me in, question can I use these "passively" if I wanted to? and would I loose anything?
"Lose" ffs !
This is the best review I’ve seen in a while! I’m so tired of looking through videos only to have to wait (for what seems like a minute) to get through their generic logo opener pre-video only to be bombarded by generic techno music throughout the “review.”
That's very kind, thank you Aaron. I hope you subscribed, and I hope you enjoy the content we bring out each week.
can you do review of edifier r1100?
hi guys iv been looking to but the edifier s350 db sounds good, but is there a s360 db out?
Yup.
Pls make review of edifier s760d if possible
Hi. Thanks a lot..Your bass test impulse me to buy Edifier 1280T... And it is amazing... five stars / Hola . Muchas gracias, tu prueba de los bajos, han motivado la compra de los edifier 1280T.. Y es increíble.. cinco estrellas... REGARDS
It was interesting but most bookshelf speakers powered bookshelf speakers has that air sound in between songs does this one??
No. Completely silent even with the volume up (assuming your source isn't introducing noise, of course).
Do these have a built in phono preamp for use with a turntable?
They are powered so you don't need a receiver but you will need a preamp for your turntable. I have mine hooked into a U-Turn Orbit with built-in preamp and it's a very economical and space saving combination.
I have this for my computer. Amazing.
Can u use the cord for your phone too ?
@@TnoFashionHouse for the phone I use bt, never tried cable
Nice speakers but they are near field speakers will not sound loud or correct if you are more than 6 feet away in not in front of the speaker. I made that mistake and had to buy a pair of non near field speakers for my new turntable.
Can I connect Edifier R1280T to my Yamaha A/V receiver?
Because the ones we reviewed are powered speakers, they're not the right thing for you. I'd look at the Edifier P12's instead since you already have an amp. They'll have similar sound quality, but are even less money and are wall mountable to boot! amzn.to/2C1x048
How’s the bass on this?
Love your review. It was good. Entertaining. I have a Pair of HS 7 's by Yamaha. But these sound so good. I love The choice of music. No curse words or anything like that. Well done
Many Thanks. Subscribed. 😃 By the way do you know the name of that piece of music you played. I like it. I've heard it before but would like to hear it again. It showed the lows mids and highs of the speaker. Now that's the way you do a review.❤😃
can i connect the speakers to a 2.1 sound card (3.5 rca) ? thanx in advance.
Yes, I think you would be getting nice two channels sans separate woofer channel.
please review Edifier r19u by point of your view.
What's name of this "test" music? I loved it
Would these be good for a vintage Marantz receiver?
Well, no doubt your receiver has a built-in amp. So no need to get speakers with a built-in amp, having to go out through the headphone jack. If I'm correct in this assumption, I'd suggest you look at these passive speakers instead - same speakers, but powered by your receiver instead of a built-in amp: amzn.to/2QJDdJ9
And here is a second model from Edifier that we really like: amzn.to/2ZOfFHb
Let us know how it goes!
I might just get these. I need something to plug my 50 disc CD player into.
what is the song title at 6:11 please?
Any hiss when they are idle and nothing is playing? Do they have a power off switch?
None. Even at full volume.
Sounds amazing... Ineffable . I can totally understand those guys excitement. You guys played a very nice track for the demo. May I know the track please.
apparently you may not
@@outsidethepyramid 😂💀
Great review. :0)
I want to use these for my TV.
Quick question please:
Can I use them on their sides? It's the only option space-wise I have.
Yes. One speaker has the volume/treble/bass controls. So you'd just have to have that pointed up on that speaker. But yes, they will work just fine on their side.
@@LinuxTechShow
Wicked.
thanks for the info :)
Let’s talk about how likeable you two are, thanks for the review!
Thought you were demonstrating 2 active speakers??
These guys are super cool!!
You really should do the Swan d1010 IV $139 speakers, I've heard bold claims about them being the actual best under 150
I am listening this through an MDR V700 Sony headphones. Impressive.
The HANDS DOWN best speaker reproduction on the internet!
I might need to get these for my turntable ( AT-LP60)
Impressive product for the money. But I wondered about the brand.
So according to wikipedia, Edifier is a Chinese company founded over 20 years ago and quickly grew to dominance in their domestic market. Fun fact: they acquired STAX in 2011.
I'm from China. I loved Hi-Fi since I was a kid following my dad's lead. Edifier is not a Hi-Fi brand, but they have been focused on these speakers with AMP built in since the 90s. It's true they are a leader in the Chinese market.
Tried the Audioengine A1 and personally I think the sound quality doesn't match its reputation. I'm not sure how long I'm going to stay in the US. Otherwise I definitely will by a pair of Ediffer's speakers. I miss China for that you can buy great electronic products from local brands for very very reasonable price.
they dominate non japanese market in southeast asia
Edifier is a Chinese based company. I don't support Dictatorships if I can help it TYVM.
@@RawLu. lol
does this speaker stereo or not ? planning on using them for music production
Yes, they are stereo.
Really good review.
Thanks!!
I’m looking at buying these, but I was wondering can you just use one? They won’t fit in my setup unless I stack them or use only one.
Technically you could just use the one that contains the amp. But you'd lose one channel of any stereo recording, and half the power.
@@LinuxTechShow so basically it wouldn’t sound nearly as good as using both right?
@@thepope9076 as with all speakers, if you have only one you will only be hearing mono sound (only left, or only right). You need two speakers to have stereo sound. Mono cannot be as good sounding as stereo, by its very nature. As a mono speaker, it would sound good, but it is still only half the sound data (like closing one ear).
@@LinuxTechShow ok, thanks for replying. Last question, I swear. Could I stack them or would that not work?
@@thepope9076 yes the cabinets could be stacked if desired.
