I just think it's also important to also note that Dean had to process so much information in less than 5 minutes (Cas' deal, Cas' declaration of love, Cas' motivations, Cas' eventual death), so he's obviously in a state of shock. And if you've watched the show, you'll know that Dean's more of an "actions" guy. Again, key takeaway here is: watch the show. 4. Canon means it is "officially written into the story". Regardless of how poorly it's been written, it's still canonically written that Castiel is in love with Dean Winchester. 5. Did I want it to go down this way? No. But I'll take what I can get. I've been watching this show for 15 years, and shipping them for 11-12. I think there were several moments in all the other seasons that would've been the perfect segue (just refer to the fanvids or even canon-compliant fanfics) into a declaration of love or even into a romantic relationship, but the writers were too busy with fillers and irrelevant storylines. 6. I really would've loved to see them kiss at least before Cas shoves him away. Partly because we deserve to see that, and partly to just get all the haters and naysayers to stfu.

There's also the script of the scene where it's stated that Castiel's deepest truth is that he loves Dean as well as it's described that Dean "can't reciprocate" which wouldn't make sense on a friendship level in the context of this scene BUT at the same time, people (general public mostly) who don't think this declaration was on a romantic level have a good case going on as well since it wasn't EXPLICITLY stated that Cas is/was in love with Dean and that's on writers for playing it safe/not being clear enough (this could have all been avoided if Castiel has just said "I'm in love with you" instead, it's not like they have anything to lose now, sigh). I guess we're gonna see if it will be somehow explicitly mentioned that Castiel was in love with Dean in those two remaining episodes, otherwise I'm sorry, but if you can find a loop (Castiel's an angel, a kind person, of course he's capable of loving his best friend as a brother blah blah blah) because they weren't explicit enough, then it just makes this whole thing pointless.

But the day after he had processed it, realized he loved her too and told her. They were canon til’ the end. The way Dean reacted was realistic and understandable. His best friend since 12 years back just told him he loved him. And then he died. DEAN NEEDS TIME

It's much easier. Dean is a heterosexual male, while Cas has a male body. This is why he cannot answer. Dean had no problem having sex with the angel Anna, but she did have the body of a woman. If a heterosexual person does not want homosexual relationships, this does not make him homophobic.

Dean didn't look disgusted or angry. He looked like he couldn't believe Cas's confession and nearing death, it was all happening too fast and he was overwhelmed. He showed so many emotions with his mimic, though.

The reason Dean looks "constipated" is because Cas is literally confessing and is about to sacrifice himself. Everything is happening so fast for him and he didn't have time to process it until Cas is gone, which is why he looks blankly at where Cas had been standing for a second. He sobs for a while afterwards as Sam calls him, realizing what's happened and that Cas is gone forever. Still pissed that it became canon for less than 3 damn minutes before the writers said "there you go, but no ❤".

I am full of feelings, but most are negative right now. The same love I had for this show has diminished greatly after realizing some problems inside and outside the show.
This scene is not only acted so weird, but it's also edited weirdly. Notice how Dean is almost expressionless during this whole scene, but when he turns as the Empty bursts through the wall, Dean has tears in his eyes --- tears that weren't there .1 second ago. I think the writers cut out Dean's reaction and edited this scene to Hell. Jensen has even confirmed this. So, I'm gonna blame the editors and writers for this terrible scene and not the actors.
They probably cut out a lot of it because they were worried it’d come across as romantic and not platonic. They did queer baiting since Castiel was introduced then at the end they didn’t go through with it
For those who didn't see: just before that, Castiel says "The one thing that I want, I know I can't have it". *This* is what makes destiel canon, there's no other explanation than a romantic one.

They remained ambiguous, implying every now and then that it was a possibility-when they obviously never intended to deliver on it. That is queerbaiting.

A kiss when the love is reciprocated but there was never a confession that Dean would feel the same. When he really loved him, why didn’t he say anything knowing Cas would die? And Supernatural isn’t a show about Romance, it’s about family and firstly is the show not about Cass and Dean, yes Cass and Dean is a big part of that show, but it’s mainly about Sam and Dean. And if they would made Destiel officially canon it would change everything and it’s a fact that Dean could never love Cass in the way that Cass does. Cass loved Dean unconditionally and he was the most important person for him. But for Dean is the most important person Sam. And that would cause problems between the two of them, cuz Dean would never put something before Sam, even it’s Cass. Yeah, he loves Cass romantic or platonic but in their relationship would never be a balance. It’s sad but it’s the truth and I think because of that, why he knows that he would never Deans number one, he said that he want something he can’t have. And btw Cass is an angel and when Dean would felt the same way he would notice that. I think of Dean and Cass as brothers, like Jensen said and a deep platonic connection

Jeez, what's with the recent 'Jensen is homophobic' hate train? I'll admit, I think he used to be - or at the very least uncomfortable with it. But people change, and he obviously has. There's also the script of the scene where it's stated that Castiel's deepest truth is that he loves Dean as well as it's described that Dean "can't reciprocate" which wouldn't make sense on a friendship level in the context of this scene BUT at the same time, people (general public mostly) who don't think this declaration was on a romantic level have a good case going on as well since it wasn't EXPLICITLY stated that Cas is/was in love with Dean and that's on writers for playing it safe/not being clear enough (this could have all been avoided if Castiel has just said "I'm in love with you" instead, it's not like they have anything to lose now, sigh). I guess we're gonna see if it will be somehow explicitly mentioned that Castiel was in love with Dean in those two remaining episodes, otherwise I'm sorry, but if you can find a loop (Castiel's an angel, a kind person, of course he's capable of loving his best friend as a brother blah blah blah) because they weren't explicit enough, then it just makes this whole thing pointless.

It often felt like Dean is physically incapable of saying those three little words so I really didn't expect him to do so. I don't know what everyone is talking about, though. Dean didn't look disgusted or angry. He looked like he couldn't believe Cas's confession and nearing death, it was all happening too fast and he was overwhelmed. He showed so many emotions with his mimic, though.

The reason Dean looks "constipated" is because Cas is literally confessing and is about to sacrifice himself. Everything is happening so fast for him and he didn't have time to process it until Cas is gone, which is why he looks blankly at where Cas had been standing for a second. He sobs for a while afterwards as Sam calls him, realizing what's happened and that Cas is gone forever. Still pissed that it became canon for less than 3 damn minutes before the writers said "there you go, but no ❤".

This scene is not only acted so weird, but it's also edited weirdly. Notice how Dean is almost expressionless during this whole scene, but when he turns as the Empty bursts through the wall, Dean has tears in his eyes --- tears that weren't there .1 second ago. I think the writers cut out Dean's reaction and edited this scene to Hell. Jensen has even confirmed this. So, I'm gonna blame the editors and writers for this terrible scene and not the actors.
They probably cut out a lot of it because they were worried it’d come across as romantic and not platonic. They did queer baiting since Castiel was introduced then at the end they didn’t go through with it
For those who didn't see: just before that, Castiel says "The one thing that I want, I know I can't have it". *This* is what makes destiel canon, there's no other explanation than a romantic one.

They remained ambiguous, implying every now and then that it was a possibility-when they obviously never intended to deliver on it.

A kiss when the love is reciprocated but there was never a confession that Dean would feel the same. When he really loved him, why didn’t he say anything knowing Cas would die? And Supernatural isn’t a show about Romance, it’s about family and firstly is the show not about Cass and Dean, yes Cass and Dean is a big part of that show, but it’s mainly about Sam and Dean.
And if they would made Destiel officially canon it would change everything and it’s a fact that Dean could never love Cass in the way that Cass does. Cass loved Dean unconditionally and he was the most important person for him. But for Dean is the most important person Sam. And that would cause problems between the two of them, cuz Dean would never put something before Sam, even it’s Cass.
Yeah, he loves Cass romantic or platonic but in their relationship would never be a balance.
It’s sad but it’s the truth and I think because of that, why he knows that he would never Deans number one, he said that he want something he can’t have. And btw Cass is an angel and when Dean would felt the same way he would notice that.
