- With the 1981 release of Rush's Moving Pictures album, "The Camera Eye" took us on a musical journey across the Atlantic in the bands unique lyrical and musical style. The song tangibly describes New York and London; The long held subjects of story, fantasy and lore along with the qualities that energize these magical cities.
Enjoy!!

RIP Neil Peart. A gentle genius that touched the lives of millions. I thank you from the bottom of my heart for the tremendous joy that you have given me for so many years.
I’m completely devastated by your passing and offer my condolences to your family and loved ones.
So, so very sad.
Rock with the angels and you will always be the Spirit Of radio
😞 😞 😞
Still Kickin - One of the greatest of all time. Was one of my musical influences as a teenager growing up in Canada. Rest In Peace Neil. 💔
@Still Kickin - well said. RIP Mr. Peart. You will be missed.
As a lifelong fan or rush I'm very saddened by the passing of the professor. As a tribute to him may suggest a video of time stands still with niel featured just a thought
Your video is fitting a tribute. My favorite Rush video
But wait... did Mr Peart left something undone?
No, he didn’t... his life was full to the end. The real pain was dying after his daughter... any parent’s nightmare.
A lot can play like him, problem is to create music and technique like he did... and his band too. Unique!
My hair stood on end the first time I heard this ,I’m 70 years old listening March 22, 2023 it never lost its power I still love it, 47 concerts live in my mind ,my kids are total fans …….amazing grandchildren 😍🥰✌️❤️ a family of Rush fans .
Best family kind.
A masterpiece ! Heard it for the first time at 13 years old. 55 years old now.
First concert and last concert, five RUSH tours: RUSH rocks!
My birthday
Nice job my friend. My kids are unfortunately too young and missed seeing these guys. They still love em tho
This should be THE official video for this song! Outstanding!
Surely that,s what it is !!
Couldn't agree more!
Yesssssssss i acord
I totally agree with you
Yeah fr this visualization matches the instrumental / flow / emotion perfectly
Some are born to move the world, to live their fantasies. But most of us just dream about the things we like to be. Sadder still to watch it die than never to have known it. For you, the blind who once could see... the Bell Tolls for thee...There will never be another one like him!
Best song ever, by the best band ever. Great camera work illustrating the marvelous lyrics by Neal
The greatest rock band ever....i have all of thier albums been a fan for over 50 years
Right on, bro! 45 years here.
First show Lakeland Civic Center, Lakeland, Florida, Permanent Waves, 1980.
Wow, you were a fan before they even recorded their first album. That is a true fan. Just kidding of course. Huge fan here for over 40 years. Their music is timeless.
I weep I weep till my eyelids grow oh so heavy but I still cannot sleep.A rug swept from under my weary feet. I will forever search for you on every street. A beat that they will NEVER stand to compete, words that none will dare to nigh compete. Oh how can one ever forget? NEVER >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
I'm sorry, are there really any rivals to RUSH? The complexity of the music and the relativity of the lyrics STILL astound me at 50!!
@@user-gy8co5qy2z truthly
Couldnt agree more boss been listening to rush since 1984 and at age 50 still love them just as much today as bk then. The lyrics no other band has even come close to Neil Pearts intellect. And the music is 2nd to none. I will say after their producer Terry Brown left, the music kinda went down hill.
Even tho I don't like them as much I would have to say Yes.
Yes, Camel, ELP, Triumvirat, Genesis, Jethro Tull, KIng Crimson, Gentle Giant, Magma, Grobschnitt ...
I'm sorry there aren't more ... more better music ... yay us ... but all I got is Symphony X, Pink Floyd or Dream Theater, maybe Dragonforce (tho cheesey), & wolf is right: so YES, & many of Pedro's mentions get the nod too ... yet RUSH is still my all-time favorite band ... (Can ya' believe all the 'expert' critics who said Peart's lyrics were "inane", etc?) ... Try some late-1800's/early-1900's classical composers/pieces, as they compare musically (called the classics for good reason) ... & modern composers have also written some movie soundtracks that are wonderfully beautiful & complex.
I have listened to his drum beats, I have had his lyrics seared into my heart and soul, I have felt the sense of possibilities that his songs have created. I am 53 years old and have read the great philosophers and learned from the great academics, but no one has had more of an impact on my life and my worldview than Neil Peart. May he know the kind of legacy he has left.
Me here also 53yrs. ;) No words how they came to my life close the border of USSR..no internet, just mouth to mouth between faithfull connoissiuers..RUSH was..different..have a try, wow tree guys, no promo pics, HUGE souns..they visited Stockholm 1979 and heard that Neil's Slingerland snare was LOUD..and heard to Finland across the sea (outdoors concert)..
Best video ever made
I'm 61 loved rush since I was 15. 2112 that was beautifully constructed my friend
Tom Sawy...who? Favorite song on this album! All gears firing on 10. ...but this goes to 11.
Peace and comfort for your family and band mates... thanks for all the AMAZING music! Rest well, Professor. 🎶 🥁
My neighbors used to hate this song! RIP Neil
the best performance (video) ever
If you feel a little depressed, listen to this song. The energy will charge you up! Proud 64 yo Rush fan since '73!
Thank you so much for sharing ❤👏👏🇨🇦
WOW... Huge Rush fan... Outstanding... Thank you very much!
+DallasRushFan Thanks!!
One of my all time favorites from Rush for so many reasons. A true sleeper track that few people remember from Mobing pictures, as every song on that albume was great. Tom Sawyer, Red Barchetta, YYZ, Limelight, Vital Signs, Witch Hunt and of course Camera Eye. One of the great modern albums of all time, right up there with So (peter gabriel)
The camera eye & Cygnus X-1 are one of my favs from this Canadian trio.... Awesome!!!!
wow............ WOW!!! Geddy and the boys need to pony up and buy this video! Make it the official RUSH "Camera Eye" video and put it up on Vimeo....
WOW!!!
The music of Rush is timeless.
Just saw the show in Lincoln last night. Front row 20 feet from Ged's microphone all night. AWESOME!!!! GO SEE R40!!!!!...This was the second song after intermission. Beautiful work on this video.
otter boy Thanks! I can't wait!!
RIP Neil Peart. Thanks for giving us a "sense of possibilities" with your music and lyrics.
Wonderful, music and video
This is a "Masterpiece, work of art" many thanks to the creator.

Mind blowing remastering of one of Rush's best-- and a killer modern video very apropos to the song. Nice work!
Loving all of your videos! You are doing the music justice and we all know that is hard to do! Keep em coming is right!!!!
Tom Rickling Thanks!!
Most impressive!
I learned to play all these songs on a CB 500 drum kit. All were fun to play and practice but this one had that factor which I patterned myself on.
This is brilliantly done
My Neihgor loves this songe
After several decades this shit never gets old, at least to me! I can listen too it over and over!
Great
When are they gonna be in the rocknroll hall of fame if not hall of shame!!
The guitar tone and the melody at 3:18, as well as the minimalistic pad and bass and lead guitar unison melody really give this section a sort of Gary Numan feel.
Please don't ever compare Rush to....Gary Neuman? 🤣🤣🤣
@@carlybarra6374 lol!
Wow! I've never heard this! This is fantastic! So raw, young, and fresh sounding! I would've liked to have tackled the sound guy to stop him from panning the guitar back and forth like crazy at 4:08 'til the end though. Incredible guitar playing!
Very cool .. great job start to finish
Very well done!!!
This video is Gorgeous!! 🔥🏆⭐
Brilliant!
Song says 80s. Video says 10s.
Together a perfect bridge between the decades.
Gawd o love camera eye. Wot a beauty eh!

Awesome video! The Professor would have loved it!
If I we're the Statue Of Liberty I'd jump in the ocean and swim for Florida. 🤣🤣🤣
Oh My God! your work is Fabulous. Last time I heard this song was back in 1982 and I was high in the back of a "64 ford falcon. Your editing is superb. I would hope you get an award for your effort and time ...thank you. !!!

great job on the vids!
Manhattan is the center of this blue planet
I wonder what Rush’s Video of This Is,If there Is One…I Like the way this is Put Together, although the Twin Towers were Up when this Song was Made
I like the opening sequence.. yet when the lyrics kicked in I would of shifted to real time and freeze frames of the relevance of the Lyrics which you did but not until the second partition of lyrics at 4:40 . But it's still very beautifully shot. nice Job. *Sorry* for the critique Yet I still love your video.
I just listened to this tune but when I saw you had made a video I watched it anyway. Excellent as always Still Kickin. BTW, if you have never seen "Koyaanisqatsi" I guarantee you that you will love it but I would venture to say that you have. PEACE
Wally Smith Thanks Wally!! You always leave such great comments... "Koyaanisqatsi" is one of the "atsi" films that I haven't seen yet but will definitely check it out. Thanks again man!
It was a nice ride Rush on the Rhamulan ship wasn't it, I wrote a good one Lerxst , CROOKED HOUSE. Going for a ride with me? Old guys
That New York skyline would’ve looked so much better with the “Twin Towers” in the background 🙁
"But the city is calm in this violent sea".. Translation.. whenever u are at the beach on a nice day, look at the surface of the ocean. It looks so calm, inviting, and peaceful. Look at a human from just the surface and without them speaking. They for the most part look calm, or even just harmless or peaceful, for lack of a better word.. but as under that calm sea surface lies a viscious, dark, dangerous, kill or be killed world that can't be seen. The same with humans. The outside surface may look appealing, but u just don't know what lies beneith the surface of mam.. His greed, selfishness, pride, jealousy, hatred, perverseness, evil thoughts, etc.. I think most will get the picture who love rush. God says man's heart is full of evil thoughts continually. For there are none rightous, no not one.. And most don't see it. They think they are good people and don't sin. Or even think they are worthy of Heaven.. Those who think that will have their eyes made wide open one day.. Read the word of God, Pray, then listen to some rush... In that order every time
The last of the great Rush epics.
RIP Neil (1/7/20)
Sitting here playing air drums because, well, that's the law..
For Neil Brother teacher
Word. So missed..and respected and Loved!
When will you put out a new video?
nearly made me cry.
I have to say, I don't usually write in on UA-cam videos, but you, in the most professional way, have turned one of the best storybook rush songs into a cinematic masterpiece. I've listened to this song sence the early 80s, but watching this video is like hearing the song for the first time. simply amazing as are your other videos. please keep them coming.
I'm surprised I haven't seen this yet, the collection of outstanding shots displayed here is amazing. I'm curious where Still Kickin got them, if he shot them himself or got from stock libraries? The massive amount of work that went into this is incredible and I offer a standing ovation for the effort. This video eclipses Big Wally Pants's already great version.
t- rexx thanx for your comment , wasn’t going to even watch it until I read your enthusiasm, couldn’t agree with you more masterfully edited. Cheers
Agreed.....
Look what he did with " Natural Science "
t- rexx .... I could not have said it better .... been listening to this song since the day the album came out and this video is perfect .... someone did one for "Red Sector A" that is amazing too !
LOVE THIS SONG AND LP....BRINGS BACK MEMORIES OF HIGH SCHOOL AND THE 80s!!!
How I miss the 1980s...THE BEST DECADE EVER FOR MUSIC!!!
For sure! I'd go back in a millisecond.
Saw them on the pictures tour.....fantastic
Rush fans are the most intelligent people in the 🌎 world🖖🖖🤘🤘
If you don't like rush you have to respect them to me they are the greatest band ever never in trouble and never nonsense.
The greatest video Rush never made
That was a piece of art !!!!!!!!!!!!!
+michael shawn Thanks!!
Love it
✊😎No Doubt!🕶👌
Does anybody else think the shot at 4:39 could not work more perfectly with the change in the song?
+Aaron Grossman YES! awesome cut scene
Talking about London, showing New York... not quite perfect there.
No, London begins at 6:00
Aaron Grossman dude I'm a huge Rush fan and you're right at 3:49 a perfect cut into the next scene with the music change good eye brother
Same with the transition at 5:58
Moving Pictures is an absolute masterpiece even 40 years later.
And side 2 being generally overlooked, in the shadow of the four monsters on side 1. I'd say some of the most amazing sounds on the record are on side 2.
@@deletesoon70 Yes! in my opinion, side 2 is the best side.
This is an absolute masterpiece. Beyond brilliant.
+OnYouGlenn Thank you!!
Yo bro I’m 70 seen them 47 times I’m listening to them now it’s 7:23 May 21 2023 this song camera eye 👁️ has always been magic to me 👍✌️☮️ love to all my Rush people

Well done putting this together... Very professional
I think Rush fans are still hurting, I know I am.
RIP NEAL
Whomever it was who created this video to synchronize with The Camera Eye is absolutely genius. I have been listening to this song since I bought the album, the day it was released in Nashville, 43 years ago. Perfect synchronicity. RUSH was my first concert- Permanent Waves tour. RUSH rocks!
My absolute favorite video of this song 🎵 🔥
Congratulations!!!
Keep going with Rush videos.
Cheers from Brasil!
Amilton Garcia Obrigado!! ... Thanks!!
WOW. This is the best interpretation of The Camera Eye that I’ve ever seen.
Richard McEntee , can't tell which song is my favorite Rush song.
"Moving Pictures" was the first Rush album i bought. When putting on side 2, i was blown away by this song. Listened to it countess times 👍👍
Totally awesome!!!! The guitar + bass solo in the second part is one of the best ever. This video was so very well made and connected to the one of their best songs. Thank you for sharing.
5:57-6:00 favorite transition feels perfect.
In all honesty, I think this is Rush's best song.
And that is saying a lot. A whole lot.
Somebody did a fantastic job setting their masterpiece to video.
Rush is my favourite band.
This is my favorite song.
i wuv ew
It certainly is an excellent embodiment of them. Great video.
@@kennyevans9166 Natural Science for me
What I Left, moving pictures is the best album from Rush. Powerful !
I go to Manhattan frequently and I know exactly what Neil is writing about. Especially when there is a light rain an you look up in midtown and cant see the tops of the buildings. I never get bored of it.
Yes, I was a weekend tourist in NYC twice, and every city street does seem to have a unique quality of light, as Neil wrote.
