@@TitanBP I am pretty sure it was Permanent Waves. Willing to be corrected. I think they had an album in mind tentatively to be called Sir Gwain, but nothing clicked.
They dropped the big epic type format as in the previous four albums for shorter, tighter songs, maybe more approachable, even radio friendly. That was a growing trend then as well beyond Rush.
I think it was Alex, or maybe Niel, who mentioned PW was fun to make. Maybe both at one time or another.

I always thought the same thing about Rush. Even though they may not know every single fan in the physical, logical sense, I feel like they know each of us in their heart and spirits. And even if Neil has passed on, he's always with us and we will never be apart. ❤

I as a drummer and lyricist was so excited to have had the opportunity to play this song with the first band I was in for my high school talent show back in February 2020, right before COVID entered the fold. It was the first song we ever played live as a recording, performing band. We were between 16 and 18 years old at the time, the five of us.
I'm almost 20 now, but even still, after listening to this song for over 10 years (my dad got me hooked on Rush at an early age), I listen today and I'm still just as blown away by the genius of Rush and their sense of feel, texture, innovation and creativity as I was when I first heard this several years ago.
I can only hope that the music I write today comes even close to representing my appreciation for Rush, this song and Progressive music. Not many people in my age demographic listen to Prog, let alone even know what it is, but I do have a guitarist friend who loves this music as well and who I met in high school, as well as a buddy we both know who plays Keyboards, and we want to fill out the rest of our line-up. Rush, Saga, Dream Theater and Symphony X among countless others are who we look up to.
I don't mean to self-promo, but I just want to share how many areas of the world these guys (Rush) have touched, and in several ways. 🙏
    Love from Toronto, Canada 👋🇨🇦

Such a visionary track - with this being a 1980 release, it had the weight of the 70's behind it. A decade that began with men landing on the moon, vacuum tubes ruling the (air) waves, and V8s drinking themselves down the highway. Standing at the end of it and looking towards the 80s, Rush cut away all of the fat and bloat but instead of the back-to-basics primitivism of punk, they streamlined it with the flair of the designer and the vision of the space shuttle, swapping tubes for solid state, pressed steel for carbon fibre and dropping pure cylinders and mating the savings with turbos. It was evolution, not revolution, meaning all the power and learning is kept whilst the drive to succeed does not cease. Those synth melodies could have come off a Kraftwerk track, and yet they merge beautifully with the guitar which swaps from adding-machine precision to waves of self expression amidst the rock solid rhythms of the bass and percussion.
