I love pottery a lot...it relaxes me and I love to hand build things..I once made a big fruit bowl by using a salad wooden bowl and I used two to three sheets of newspapers to cover the entire bottom of bowl and I let it dry leather hard for a couple of days on the bowl...and I had to wax the bottom of the bowl so it won't stick to the kilm and I used dark brown color slip and then it was fired...after it was dried the bowl looked so awesome and amazing! It looked like I used tiger paws stamp on it and the colors were amazing! It was like "The God's of the kilm kissed my piece of fruit bowl"...☺☺

When drying clay bodies that have a flat surface I like to pour beans on the surface to put some surface pressure on to avoid warping. I don’t know if it’s needed or not, I just do it out of precaution.
Oooo that’s a good question. It’s been a long time since I made these. I only use Laguna glazes and it’s one of their whites but I don’t know the exact one.
I could see how her hands could get tired with rubbing out the glaze outside of the texture. Maybe getting a drill with a sponge attactment could help reduce the strain and speed up that operation.
Are you an engineer? This is something my dad would suggest. Hahah Thank you! I find that the hand wiping helps me control how much of the underglaze remains in areas that didn’t have enough depth in the imprint but I could probably use a larger sponge! Or a drill with a sponge sounds fun too! :D

I’ve been meaning to make a narrated version of this one. Will work on that this week! I try to do one of each but this was my first video and I hadn’t decided to do that yet. Will do!
Those are test tiles. I use them to try out various glaze combinations before using them on a final piece. I will do a video about these in the future!
@@Bellamarcella1212 we get down to 20* or so. I haven’t really had any noticeable problems but I’m sure the weather isn’t easy on the kiln. It was pretty beat up when I got it and I did a lot of repair work myself. I try to keep it sheltered and cozy when it rains and snows.
Well they’re what I have on hand and definitely left behind some residue. Not sure if something else would have been more effective. Do you know? They worked pretty well though. Sponges might have been better.
Hi! This was the Hagi porcelain by Laguna. I actually will probably use something like the bmix. These warped a tiny bit and I’m wondering if they would warp less with that clay. I glazed them with a satin white by Laguna. The colors painted on are a colored underglaze that peeks through. I feel like it gives them a rustic look.
@@meenusubrahmanian5692 I haven’t worked in terra cotta and don’t know what clay body you’re using. Where is your clay from? I’d try to buy glaze made by that producer. If you’re just asking about color you can’t go wrong with white topped in pastels like seafoam, etc. Just one person’s opinion though!
@@sonja.ceramics I'm using eco friendly natural clay : terracotta the red one...i cannot use the glazes which are for earthenware and stoneware clay..so was confused..this terracotta is fired at 1000C
@@meenusubrahmanian5692 I think most pottery stores will have a low fire glaze. Or you would research low fire glaze recipes if you’d like to make your own. I don’t have experience with making my own glaze yet so I’m less than helpful.

Hi I'm sorry for the delay! I use the beans to help weigh down the clay so it dries evenly and flat.
Do the beans keep it from warping?
Well the answer is I like to think so. But honestly I’m not sure if it helps or not.

No problem! I was using them to weigh down the clay and help it dry without warping. Now a days I just compress more and dry more slowly. :)
