I found the shipping portion of the show very interesting. I have my own code of expectations. I agree with the panel I use top loaders on any book $50 and up. If I have extra i will use them on $20 and up. Also i need to join that manga discord! That sounds fun!
My main takeaway from this episode is that Bryan doesn’t like sushi. Maybe try cooked sushi if you haven’t before. Delicious.
I received comics in a poorly package envelope or box. If there is damage, I will asked for refund. If the comic is undamaged, I let the seller and maybe not buy from him/her again. If I received a high value comic in the Gemini and wasn't damaged, I thank my lucky stars but wouldn't ask for a refund. I already got it and it is good.
Ever since the first 1:25 red band dropped and they popped lcs have been selling the next ones for what they presell for prior to them dropping cause of the hype but the orders have increased since the #1 dropped so they aren't as scarce as they once were.
Billie does not list ratios at his store until next Tuesday. Once he has orders in and he knows how many ratios he has, then he list them. Sometimes ratios are giveaways for foc contest. If you order foc books from Billy during the foc weekend, he enters you automatically in a Tuesday giveaway and sometime the prizes are ratios. If you win he adds it to your foc order when they come in.
As a fan of comics, I personally don’t care if comics are drawn by a human or by AI. So long as the story is good and images are cool, I could care less how it was created.
I think a lot of this outrage against AI art is from the actual artists as opposed to the fans, which is completely understandable but as a musician who has seen actual musicians be replaced by synthesizers and samples all my life, I don’t see this as a fight they can actually win. The cheaper easier alternative will always be embraced eventually in a capitalist society.
I kinda feel sorry for Mattina in this instance, he’s just a little a head of his time and the more traditional artists are ready to sacrifice him in the name of the good fight that they are trying to fight, mostly out of fear and frustration, which I can understand but I think it’s probably gonna be a battle that’s completely in vain because as I stated before the easiest cheapest method is usually embraced in a capitalist society.
Weird situation, I’m glad I’m not an artist right now.
Not paying $4-8 a book for someone to create it by prompts
I grew up on StarWars I have most of the novels from the expanded universe. I checked out after almost walking out of the 2nd movie whatever that was called after Abrahms New Hope remake. (Which I enjoyed a little. Then came the Mandolorian, which got worse with each season. After that I was like nope. Plus you see how they are borrowing aspect of characters and ideas from the expanded universe but changing it enough so they don't have to credit or pay creators. Recent example the game that has the woman smuggler or whatever that seems like a ripoff of Dash Rendar.
i think if you're someone who makes videos about comic's and their prices along with their grades then i think it's only logical that you give off the impression that you care about comics and their history and price and grade. So i can understand the buyer's frustration. He probably let his emotions control him a little but i can understand since its a lot of money we are talking about. I don't think automatic comics can handle legit, logical criticism. Instead of responding with a logical explanation automatic comics reverted to taking a screenshot and posting his information for people to block, just for simply asking a question based on facts and logic. I think the buyer was just honest and straightforward and automatic comics took it as an attack towards him and as a "tactic" to get money out of him. that makes no logical sense. when i buy $70-$150 comics they arrive in priority boxes with bubble wrap. i think many people are letting their feelings control them and are defending automatic comics because they feel some sense of loyalty towards him because he's a "youtuber" and their friend, all without any form of critical thinking. i think automatic comics calling this guy out and telling his subscribers to block him and to post up his account information suggest that he is defensive therefore finds the buyer's opinion valid.
