2 and a half minutes later, after telling a story that has nothing to do with Bill, he gets to the point. Jeesh man. Do a show called "Dennis Tells Stories" so we can hear the guests!!

You know where comic book shops fit in with Kickstarters by creatives? Retailer tiers.
AI is not for me, glad that most of my collection is Silver Age, I don't see myself buying new AI comics in the future. I would buy an artist-drawn new comic if I had to have the cover.
When does interior art ever give a book any value? Only when it's a first appearance. That's why there's little to no intrest in what's inside the books. You can read them online or in trades. I get mine from the library all the time for free to read. Fact is the vast majority in the hobby are looking to profit and covers and grading is where profits live. It's an unfortunate reality and it's not going away. If the flipping leaves the community the industry is dead. Period. As someone who doesn't sell books I can appreciate that fact. Same reason behind shops that only sell new books are closing everywhere. This hobby is driven on the value of the item. We've going to see less and less good story because the market doesn't care about the story anymore, unless it can be developed properly into the big screen or a series which is also a profit maneuver only.
We talked about one in this show, Batman with Capullo art. His art totally helped sell that book. Yes Snider's writing helped, but those last few storyline were garbage and Capullo's art kept people buying. How about another recent book Doom? Sanford Green's art had people buying multiple copies.
@@BeyondWednesdays yeah but batman above all other ongoing titles sells the most all the time. I'm talking more how everyone is buying for example anything J scott Campbell and recently Dave Stevens everything. Nobody is reading any of their books and that goes for whoever and whatever becomes hot with very few exceptions like the recent Doom. Too bad it's a one shot.
Iono man, just recently been buying Donny Cates & Ram V. carnage stories.. Been seeking out that Doom one shot for something more recent, and I spend just as much on actual stories I like putting together runs as I do on pure cover buys or value buys.
I don't think it's just me either, being in smaller sellers streams online, I notice a lot of people are looking for specific books for their collection goals. I notice in the bigger streams it's more common for people to be looking for hot covers to flip, but it's almost like two separate communities in the same niche.
If it were all profit focused in the community then you'd think slabs would be selling more than raw books, but it's moreso the opposite.
