Over the garden makes you feel like you can't decide if you are in a dream or nightmare. The eeriness of the unknown combined with the coziness of early america vibe creates make something really special. I love this show so much, every fall I think about over the garden wall
exactly thank you
@@nikosv7230 I wish they won awards for their music they really deserve it
It’s that time of year again my friend 🎃
you are so right
so true, even if its a nightmare its extremely cozy
Over the Garden Wall gives me a feeling I can't describe. It's just so damn nice and cozy.
Best comment. Bonus, for being so damn true.
Nice, cozy and a little creepy. Which only makes it better :)
I think it's because it reminds us of being tweens/early teens and trying to make sense of the world when there was still a chance, in our minds at least, that magic was real. It's all peppered with the sort of self-centered insecurity of that time when we could really start to imagine the minds behind the eyes that looked at us. It's comforting to think about being that age in some ways, but piques up old, inconsequential anxieties, too. So even the latter is kind of nice... like, "Wow. I sure wish my biggest worry was that a bunch of kids thought I was weird." :)
the perfect autumn
It's autumn. You're a little kid again, dressing up as something silly and you're on your way to go trick or treating. The cold night time air is both unsettling yet comforting; it reminds you that you have gained freedom for the night yet the darkness adamantly pushes you towards light. As long as you have the light near you and a container of candy in hand, the darkness is a fleeting fear. Sure, it's pretty scary thinking about what's behind the shadow of that tree but the freedom (and the persuasive reward of candy) gives you spirit to push on. No matter how many times you get scared wondering about what that sound behind you was, you know that you're gonna be home again soon. That's why it feels so nice and cozy to me.
It encapsulates being a kid on halloween so perfectly that it just warps me back in time to those days and gives my tummy a funny feeling. I'm from the UK but, while halloween isn't that big over here, even as someone who doesn't really care for halloween, OTGW is a love letter to the season/holiday/time frame. The feeling of being a kid going on an adventure with a plan to return home with treasure is so much fun but the season/holiday/time frame together really makes it feel cozy imho.
I’m saving this for Autumn because I KNOW it will be incredibly immaculate
soon!! :D
I can’t wait till fall I’m riding the nostalgia train now
This is good all year round
Immaculate?
concuerdo
I always love the subversion of character tropes in this show.
Instead of playing into the mean, shallow stereotypes, Over The Garden Wall portrays all the town kids as mostly wholesome, awkward, and well meaning. But in a genuine sort of way. Especially at the party and the cemetery, when they were so nice to Greg. I appreciate that very much.
Wirt almost seemed as though he was being bullied to some extend but when he got to the party they welcomed him wirt is literally every other teenager really REALLY anxious of being perceived negatively especially by peers i loved how they did this because its realistic that and how an older sibling can mistreat a younger one unintentionally

The ghostly but calm feeling that the traditional American fall gives is such a unique feeling. One of somberness but also full of comfort.
that's old school protestantism with a hint of the pagan spirit for ya
All I know is it's pumpkin season y'all. (Not fond of pumpkin spice, but I love stomping on those crunchy raked leaves and eating pumpkin pie)
Oh yeah, and cozy sweaters when it rains. Bliss!
@@ArrakisHeir88 Damn right. Around here, you believe in whatever the hell you want to. It's glorious.
@@tuckercase2449 actually my post outlined how much better American culture was when it wasn't so watered down and spread out
Everyone basically believed the same things, and everyone now agrees that was a more beautiful time
@@ArrakisHeir88 Are you trying to pull me into some kind of debate? It's tedious and I don't care. This is a throwaway account I use to make throwaway comments.
For anyone searching, the song at 26:47 is called "A place to wait out this rain". It's hard to find because they didn't put this song in the official album.
thank you so much
I’m listening to this in May. And it’s raining. There’s something about this show that is so comfortable, but also a little eerie. It’s like exploring the woods with your friend in the fall.
I’m so glad I came across this, it’s lovely! Really sets an autumnal mood
Hi Ethan, Im glad you like it!
it all come from the amazing animated mini series from cartoon network called over the garden wall. you cant enjoy the music the same way if you dont have contex. plus many of these songs have singing in the show
Watch the show if you haven't already!!!
nigga its summer
We don't have autumn where I live... but then it rains like a mf, like white rain and you can't see meters away from you type rain
Ever since this show came out, it became a tradition to watch it every fall season either starting on first day of November or Thanksgiving brake
I watch it throughout the year, but I make it a point to watch it several times during the Halloween/Thanksgiving season
It's my tradition to watch every Halloween and I listen to the soundtrack periodically through November until Thanksgiving.
I’ve started the tradition of watching it every year during the week it was released. I even watch 2 episodes per night as that’s how it aired.
It honestly sets a cozy cabin/fireplace mood and makes you wanna light a candle!🕯
Finally, autumn. I can listen to this without feeling out of season
almost there again
Yep. Here we are again :)
Nah my place of inner peace is a forest stuck in autumn. I never feel out of season enjoying things like this
That exact shot of the guy with the pumpkin head looking at the landscape is MY FAVORITE of the whole series
I was thinking the exact same thing. My sister and brother in law got me into this show and we all watch it together every year and every time this still shot comes on, all 3 of us look at each other and nod in agreement that fall has begun! Sip back that Montauk pumpkin ale, don a comfy flannel and enjoy OTGW!
@@SpinningLeaf37 🥺❤️
Pottsfield is the best episode.. I love it so much
Watching this show while drinking apple cider/eating pumpkin bread is the best feeling ever
Anyone else listening to this in April? Honestly I don’t even care that I’m listening to this out of season. Over The Garden Wall is such a good show.
almost listening to it in April, only one month early lol
I listen to this in april, because autumm is in april in my country. I live in south hemisphere.
Watched Over the Garden Wall in an airport waiting for my flight home after a year of college. It holds a really special place in my heart as I was so anxious to get back home finally.
Nowhere place like home.
I watched it for the first time on a plane!
I've made it a habit to watch Over the Garden Wall every October. It's become a cherished tradition for me. Such cozy autumn feelings.
Happy October friend! I hope you enjoy watching over the garden wall :)
Same here! Such a great series!
@@wickedlyoddella7391
same! I always watch it around halloween. It's like tradition for me
there's an odd sensation about Over The Garden Wall's music. Although I've never seen the show yet, there's still a sense of familiarity to it. Aside from the nostalgia, it just emits that feeling of dread yet blissful acceptance of death, inching closer like someone you know very well, but at the same time someone you've never met before.
edit: Just finished watching and its absolutely amazing XD
It's definitely worth watching. Think "Alice in Wonderland" if it was written by Washington Irving, with a bit of Dante's Divine Comedy thrown in.
watch it! just over an hour of content; its phenomenal
Definitely recommend watching some theory videos around the show as well (and reading some of the comicbook spin-offs because they also give more details about some of the characters in the series). It's probably no accident that elements in the Unknown feel like inching closer to death...
I just watched it all today randomly while scrolling through Hulu
it's funny how the unknown feels ironically familiar
There is an incredibly subtle, quiet piano key being hit in the background every second and it's been driving me crazy since I discovered it.
omg right me too
BRO HOW COULD YOU 😭 i can't i hear it now
@@juggerNOTtoday I'm sorry friend.
I also noticed this a few days and ago and the playlist is basically unlistenable now 😭

A Cider mill, a corn maze, pumpkin piles, turning leaves, and the realization that not everything can last forever, this is Over the Garden Wall to me
This would be amazing for sleep with some bedtime stories on top of it. Like maybe some fall themed ones with a deep voiced narrator
@MattyLinguiti "So baritone, or alto?"
In the show they actually do that
Check out Sara's tape on youtube! A little creator's extra with Wirt giving poetry and clarinet!
@@bluewinder30 yeah Ive seen the show
Maybe Jason Funderberkers actor
Over the Garden wall is wholesome yet off putting. It’s a mixture of themes you don’t usually see together but this show pulled it off perfectly. Highly recommend watching it.
Once the autumn leaves begin to fall, it’s time, to once again, venture over the garden wall.
to anyone wondering what the noise in the background is, I think its vinyl crackling sound effects mixed with rain or something. I think it's there to add an "old timey" affect, or its probably there for aesthetic.
i figured it was rain sound effects, given the title, but that works too!
what a lovely mix
@@licethelouse5618 oooh I didn't read the whole title. Thank you for pointing that out! haha
What
It seems to be a mixture of rain drops falling into the ground and a small hint of fire on some wood crackling. Honestly this show is such a vibe even if it was only a mini series it definitely deserves to be on the top ten must watch series!! I wish we got more of this show, or at least something similar to these old Americans styles 🫶
Really well made and bless you for not having ads on it, the rain and the music are the perfect volume and it's helped me fall asleep multiple times already :)
Glad you like it and it could help you to relax ;)
@@brevundi2565 Thank you!
Sadly I’m also getting ads now :(
@@deydemdee yeah that's youtube messing about :/ even if the uploader doesn't put ads on a video, youtube just does it for them sometimes (and usually when that happens the OP gets no money. good & functioning system! /s) i've seen several older videos that never had midrolls suddenly get them in recent years because of this move from youtube
Bro really said "Dancing in a swirl of golden memories, the loveliest lies of all"😔
To cry and drift off to sleep
A song of sorrow yet comfort. A desire to be held close by those you love. A desire to traverse through a forest and see things unknown.
That is what this music gives me. A sense of peaceful melancholy. A reminder that I’m safe. That it may not be ok right now, but it will be.
I want to thank everyone for the views and likes
i dunno if i can choose my fav scene but the one that makes me tear up the most is when wirt finally realizes he hasnt been the most empathethic brother with greg and he finds him getting turned into a tree and he cries and i'm like 😭😭💔🥺 love them too much
Is all of it an option lol? Although I really like Beatrice's redemption arc where she helps Wirt through the snowstorm and then returns her family to normal. I think it was nice to see her warm up since she was kind of distant to them for most of the show.
man i simped wirt and lorna so hard😢
All of episode 2. Lol
Episode 2 carries the whole series.
Listening to this while reading “The girl from the Other side” is quite the experience that I’d recommend, over the garden wall’s soundtrack just goes so well with it
OMG YESSS THEY COMPLIMENT EACH OTHER SO WELL!!!
Listening to this on my bicycle ride through a forested trail on a gloomy autumn morning while headed to the cafe is peak autumn vibes. ❤️
OTGW is like being in a dream where you know you're in a dream but you can't figure out how to wake up. But you don't know if you want to.
I love it.
I absolutely love over the garden wall such a good story the characters were great! It makes me so sad that they didn't continue It also it's so underrated in my opinion this music is just good calming and it brings me joy! Will definitely listen to this a lot from now on can't wait for fall it's such a good fit :)
A veces es mejor que no tenga continuación. La terminan cagando y decís "La continuación es una basura"
I understand the desire for a continuation but on the other hand, I think the reason it was so well made was because they only had the one short season. They really had to do their best with the little time they had and they certainly succeeded.
I love it too, but I think it's best that it ended definitively when it did. I'd rather have one excellent season of TV than 8 mediocre ones. There can be too much of a good thing, and I can't imagine how a sequel could work
As much as I would love more... I think part of the charm is how condensed it is... keeps it homey
I feel like it is completely reasonable that they did not continue. it was like a story on its own. however it would be cool for there to be spin-offs and such I think that would fit more than a continuation
you know it's good music when you get goosebumps the instant it starts
ever since i first saw this show i made it an annual session each fall to rewatch it, back then it was in my own room but now i watch this show outside in a barn where i can watch autumn leaves gently cress all over the barn. sittin down with my dog n listening to the show in the background. one of my favourite times of the year.
Is your profile pic a character from bone?
@@blossomynerd461 aye its Lucius, one of my personal favorites of all time.
I love that they gave the score for this series a melodrama feel to it it adds an extra special charm to it. I love every aspect of the series from the choice of colors to the character design and the music and everything it’s so beautiful and just the right amount of creepy but still adorable at the same time
Now I wish there was autumn where I live... This show's soundtrack is too good
It's winter now here, i'm listening to this lovely song from my room, and seeing the cloudy, rainy and cold landscape through the window. Greetings from SP, Brazil. Thanks so much for share it with us.
hard to believe we're coming up to a decade of otgw. i watched it on the premier when i was maybe 11 and have repeated it every year since. one of the best written and most beautifully animated cartoons of all time- there's so much passion put into the story and the characters, every performance is flawless and it has such a gorgeous soundtrack to boot. i'm so fortunate to have gotten to grow up with the show, i'm certain it's changed my brain chemistry for the better more than once. beautiful mix of songs, by the way- the blasting company knocked it out the park and your playlist suits the mood perfectly. i hope you're doing well, wherever you are.
Over the garden Wall has forever marked all my falls and Halloween’s. And my childhood too
Reading all the comments made me realize that there's truly something special about this show. At first, I thought it was just me. Watching this show feels like drinking hot cocoa from a mug with a blanket draped on my shoulders while the raindrops drip gracefully from my window.
I always come back and listen to this and also watch the show during autumn, it never gets old. this show makes me feel cozy and warm inside. I wish they still made cartoon network shows like this again, cartoon network just isn't the same anymore.
I 100% agree. OTGW has been one of my favorite shows, due to the excessive warmth I receive from it. It has the perfect sense of nostalgia, though its almost spooky and unforeseen. I reckon the reason for all those things are the soundtrack. The soundtrack brings a subtle suspense, creeping up on you almost every instant. Definitely a classic. Patrick McHale created a masterpiece for all of us autumn lovers.
@@brookenaylanii Exactly!
Same. It's an annual tradition for me to watch this
@@randomslomo1875 Yeah!
My sister and her fiance introduced me to Over the Garden Wall, and she really hyped it up. At first, I didn't think much of it and thus failed to capture my attention. But I watched the rest of the episodes, and I love this show. Not only the story was outstanding, having a unique twist on Hollywood tropes, but also the soundtrack is superb! The soundtrack usually fits every scene perfectly, and really captures the emotion and the feeling of Autumn excellently. Wish they made a second season!
Over the Garden wall was so magical. It made the frightening comfortable and the mundane unsettling.
Listening to this on a perfect autumn evening. It was sunnier earlier, but now it's thunderstorming outside, rain lashing at the window, a flash of lightening. I've forgone my desk lamp in favour of scented candles and fairy lights. The perfect way to spend a rainy evening indoors 🕸🍂🌲🌩🎃
This show has been making an inexplicable impression on me for many years, from which it is impossible to move away. Returning to it, I always fall into melancholy, and even now, listening to this wonderful soundtrack.
Dancing in a swirl,

I Came back to this show a few weeks ago, I loved it as a kid but now when I see how deep every character their own story goes, it’s so good to listen to this and just feel the good things in live just flow through me, that is how much impact this show has had on me.
The calming music, cozy fall aesthetic, and old American art style makes over the garden wall such a beautiful show

It sounds more like a crackly record playing than rain, which honestly works even better for this show!
The more lucid you become during a dream, the further you are from it. We want life and experience to make sense. That's often not in our individual control. Folk tales can offer a methodology but rarely an answer. On behalf of the Pottsville Chamber of Commerce, I thank you for your work.
I love that i hated this show at relise, and still fully watched it every time new episode comed out.
I watch this show every fall. It’s definitely my comfort show for fall. It makes time stop.

My wife and I just watched this show for the first time, after hearing about it for years.
It's so special
looking at pictures like this always fill me with wonder; i wonder whats out there? past the trees, beyond the fog.
It is as the show described: the unknown 😊
THIS IS ALL I NEEDED, i cannot wait for fall season.. best season of them all
I have so much nostalgia for an era that never existed.
That was not an era, but a short time period :)
This music makes me want to sing my heart out and cry at the same time. Sometimes more of the latter than the former, but I love it so much.
I always get obsessed with OTGW every fall. It's like a seasonal tradition and I love it.
I recently showd this series to my younger sister who's almost 8 and she absolutely loved it.
Its a dark and rainy day rn, I have a maple black tea and a math assignment to get done. This playlist has gotten me through my math course, and its so cozy my goodness
"Somewhere, there's a place. Far far away, where there's nothing but joy and fear. The two are separated far apart, and for this, we are blessed. Somewhere over a wall, rain falls, and crops rise from the soil, like a rising tree, soon only to fall back into the earth and rebirth new and fresh crop. Something that's more than likely to happen every season, and when it does, smiles fill the people's faces. Somewhere over the garden wall, bluebirds fly, and the shadow's grow dark." - Yours truly.

Started my yearly rewatch. Such a good series especially during this time of the year!
The Unknown is a beautiful place.
Tony Soprano's near-death experience during his coma in The Sopranos was his sort of the Unknown, where he took the identity of Kevin Finnerty and he reached the end point at the Inn at the Oaks (just like Christopher experienced clinical death and saw an Irish pub named The Emerald Piper), just like Wirt and Greg dressing up for Halloween.
Thank you so much for this. Over the garden is my favorite thing and it’s such an inspiration for my art aswell
Omg yk I wish there was more to OTGW I watch it every autumn but I can't get enough of it. And man it really brings this feeling to me and I love it
I always watch over the garden wall during fall. It’s the perfect Halloween series.
My heart and soul right here❤
Thank you I love OTGW music and needed this after a stressful and depressing week.
I just showed my mother this show and she really liked it. We were talking about analogies in it (Dante's Inferno for example), and she pointed out how the niece of the turtle-eater lady was likely a parallel or analogy of how Wirt experiences his time with Sarah. He likes being around her, helps her when he can, but facing her directly and confronting his fear of rejection is absolutely terrifying. Much like the ghost.
I wonder how many more parallels there are in this show. Only 10 episodes yet so so many.
Nicely done!
my friend played some otgw songs on my birthday... maybe as a joke? maybe because they know how much I enjoy the music? I'm not sure but my birthday is in January. Ever since then, the music has been popping up here and there. and so here I am again at this wonderful playlist in the midst of winter. Im not complaining in fact why not? im not going to restrict myself from this amazing music just to three months of the year.
My friends and I are doing a group costume for halloween this year, so I'm getting back into the vibe of Over the Garden Wall. I love this music. Very relaxing, but the rain adds to the ominous vibes that comes with the music. Thank you for making!
