Over the garden makes you feel like you can't decide if you are in a dream or nightmare. The eeriness of the unknown combined with the coziness of early america vibe creates make something really special. I love this show so much, every fall I think about over the garden wall
I think it's because it reminds us of being tweens/early teens and trying to make sense of the world when there was still a chance, in our minds at least, that magic was real. It's all peppered with the sort of self-centered insecurity of that time when we could really start to imagine the minds behind the eyes that looked at us. It's comforting to think about being that age in some ways, but piques up old, inconsequential anxieties, too. So even the latter is kind of nice... like, "Wow. I sure wish my biggest worry was that a bunch of kids thought I was weird." :)
It's autumn. You're a little kid again, dressing up as something silly and you're on your way to go trick or treating. The cold night time air is both unsettling yet comforting; it reminds you that you have gained freedom for the night yet the darkness adamantly pushes you towards light. As long as you have the light near you and a container of candy in hand, the darkness is a fleeting fear. Sure, it's pretty scary thinking about what's behind the shadow of that tree but the freedom (and the persuasive reward of candy) gives you spirit to push on. No matter how many times you get scared wondering about what that sound behind you was, you know that you're gonna be home again soon. That's why it feels so nice and cozy to me. It encapsulates being a kid on halloween so perfectly that it just warps me back in time to those days and gives my tummy a funny feeling. I'm from the UK but, while halloween isn't that big over here, even as someone who doesn't really care for halloween, OTGW is a love letter to the season/holiday/time frame. The feeling of being a kid going on an adventure with a plan to return home with treasure is so much fun but the season/holiday/time frame together really makes it feel cozy imho.
I always love the subversion of character tropes in this show. Instead of playing into the mean, shallow stereotypes, Over The Garden Wall portrays all the town kids as mostly wholesome, awkward, and well meaning. But in a genuine sort of way. Especially at the party and the cemetery, when they were so nice to Greg. I appreciate that very much.
Wirt almost seemed as though he was being bullied to some extend but when he got to the party they welcomed him wirt is literally every other teenager really REALLY anxious of being perceived negatively especially by peers i loved how they did this because its realistic that and how an older sibling can mistreat a younger one unintentionally

Over the Garden wall is wholesome yet off putting. It’s a mixture of themes you don’t usually see together but this show pulled it off perfectly. Highly recommend watching it.
nearly 10 years ago nickelodeon said "yknow what the kids want these days? A pumpkin spice flavored cartoon version of Dante's Inferno" and they were sooooo right
I’m listening to this in May. And it’s raining. There’s something about this show that is so comfortable, but also a little eerie. It’s like exploring the woods with your friend in the fall.
Before i watched the show I listened to this and I felt like I was in a time before Smartphones, TV‘s or other media, where children played on corn fields and hid from scarecrows, where the farmers lived from their harvest and shared it with their neighbours, where the people from the little villages danced to old folk songs when they were happy about solving problems of their times… sometimes I’d wish to travel there and be with them, praise the lord with them, eat modest meals with them, talk about the newest news with them and come back as a different human of this civilisation… this feeling, I know kinda romanticised but it warms up my heart. ❤️
to anyone wondering what the noise in the background is, I think its vinyl crackling sound effects mixed with rain or something. I think it's there to add an "old timey" affect, or its probably there for aesthetic.
It seems to be a mixture of rain drops falling into the ground and a small hint of fire on some wood crackling. Honestly this show is such a vibe even if it was only a mini series it definitely deserves to be on the top ten must watch series!! I wish we got more of this show, or at least something similar to these old Americans styles 🫶
To cry and drift off to sleep A song of sorrow yet comfort. A desire to be held close by those you love. A desire to traverse through a forest and see things unknown. That is what this music gives me. A sense of peaceful melancholy. A reminder that I’m safe. That it may not be ok right now, but it will be.
Listening to this while reading “The girl from the Other side” is quite the experience that I’d recommend, over the garden wall’s soundtrack just goes so well with it

Is all of it an option lol? Although I really like Beatrice's redemption arc where she helps Wirt through the snowstorm and then returns her family to normal. I think it was nice to see her warm up since she was kind of distant to them for most of the show.
I absolutely love over the garden wall such a good story the characters were great! It makes me so sad that they didn't continue It also it's so underrated in my opinion this music is just good calming and it brings me joy! Will definitely listen to this a lot from now on can't wait for fall it's such a good fit :)
I understand the desire for a continuation but on the other hand, I think the reason it was so well made was because they only had the one short season. They really had to do their best with the little time they had and they certainly succeeded.
I love it too, but I think it's best that it ended definitively when it did. I'd rather have one excellent season of TV than 8 mediocre ones. There can be too much of a good thing, and I can't imagine how a sequel could work
I feel like it is completely reasonable that they did not continue. it was like a story on its own. however it would be cool for there to be spin-offs and such I think that would fit more than a continuation
over the garden wall is so special to me. it ties me and my sister together through the idea of the american folk tale, spookiness, and nostalgia. it just means so much to me. thank you.
I always come back and listen to this and also watch the show during autumn, it never gets old. this show makes me feel cozy and warm inside. I wish they still made cartoon network shows like this again, cartoon network just isn't the same anymore.
I 100% agree. OTGW has been one of my favorite shows, due to the excessive warmth I receive from it. It has the perfect sense of nostalgia, though its almost spooky and unforeseen. I reckon the reason for all those things are the soundtrack. The soundtrack brings a subtle suspense, creeping up on you almost every instant. Definitely a classic. Patrick McHale created a masterpiece for all of us autumn lovers.
This show has been making an inexplicable impression on me for many years, from which it is impossible to move away. Returning to it, I always fall into melancholy, and even now, listening to this wonderful soundtrack. Dancing in a swirl, Of golden memories, The loveliest lies of all, The loveliest lies of all.
Reading all the comments made me realize that there's truly something special about this show. At first, I thought it was just me. Watching this show feels like drinking hot cocoa from a mug with a blanket draped on my shoulders while the raindrops drip gracefully from my window.
I love that they gave the score for this series a melodrama feel to it it adds an extra special charm to it. I love every aspect of the series from the choice of colors to the character design and the music and everything it’s so beautiful and just the right amount of creepy but still adorable at the same time
It's winter now here, i'm listening to this lovely song from my room, and seeing the cloudy, rainy and cold landscape through the window. Greetings from SP, Brazil. Thanks so much for share it with us.
My sister and her fiance introduced me to Over the Garden Wall, and she really hyped it up. At first, I didn't think much of it and thus failed to capture my attention. But I watched the rest of the episodes, and I love this show. Not only the story was outstanding, having a unique twist on Hollywood tropes, but also the soundtrack is superb! The soundtrack usually fits every scene perfectly, and really captures the emotion and the feeling of Autumn excellently. Wish they made a second season!
Listening to this on a perfect autumn evening. It was sunnier earlier, but now it's thunderstorming outside, rain lashing at the window, a flash of lightening. I've forgone my desk lamp in favour of scented candles and fairy lights. The perfect way to spend a rainy evening indoors 🕸🍂🌲🌩🎃
this show has legitimently one of the best soundtracks i gave ever heard oml. send me a peach is in my lifetime top 10 on spotify just because i revisited the song religously after rewatching the show. itll always be very dear to my heart.
there's an odd sensation about Over The Garden Wall's music. Although I've never seen the show yet, there's still a sense of familiarity to it. Aside from the nostalgia, it just emits that feeling of dread yet blissful acceptance of death, inching closer like someone you know very well, but at the same time someone you've never met before. edit: Just finished watching and its absolutely amazing XD
Definitely recommend watching some theory videos around the show as well (and reading some of the comicbook spin-offs because they also give more details about some of the characters in the series). It's probably no accident that elements in the Unknown feel like inching closer to death...

hard to believe we're coming up to a decade of otgw. i watched it on the premier when i was maybe 11 and have repeated it every year since. one of the best written and most beautifully animated cartoons of all time- there's so much passion put into the story and the characters, every performance is flawless and it has such a gorgeous soundtrack to boot. i'm so fortunate to have gotten to grow up with the show, i'm certain it's changed my brain chemistry for the better more than once. beautiful mix of songs, by the way- the blasting company knocked it out the park and your playlist suits the mood perfectly. i hope you're doing well, wherever you are.

Is all of it an option lol? Although I really like Beatrice's redemption arc where she helps Wirt through the snowstorm and then returns her family to normal. I think it was nice to see her warm up since she was kind of distant to them for most of the show.
man i simped wirt and lorna so hard😢
All of episode 2. Lol
Episode 2 carries the whole series.
I absolutely love over the garden wall such a good story the characters were great! It makes me so sad that they didn't continue It also it's so underrated in my opinion this music is just good calming and it brings me joy! Will definitely listen to this a lot from now on can't wait for fall it's such a good fit :)
A veces es mejor que no tenga continuación. La terminan cagando y decís "La continuación es una basura"
There can be too much of a good thing, and I can't imagine how a sequel could work
As much as I would love more... I think part of the charm is how condensed it is... keeps it homey
I feel like it is completely reasonable that they did not continue. it was like a story on its own. however it would be cool for there to be spin-offs and such I think that would fit more than a continuation
you know it's good music when you get goosebumps the instant it starts
over the garden wall is so special to me. it ties me and my sister together through the idea of the american folk tale, spookiness, and nostalgia. it just means so much to me.
@@brookenaylanii Exactly!
Same. It's an annual tradition for me to watch this
@@randomslomo1875 Yeah!
The calming music, cozy fall aesthetic, and old American art style makes over the garden wall such a beautiful show
LGBT stronger then the Military

I watch this show every fall. It’s definitely my comfort show for fall. It makes time stop.
This show has been making an inexplicable impression on me for many years, from which it is impossible to move away. Returning to it, I always fall into melancholy, and even now, listening to this wonderful soundtrack.
Dancing in a swirl,
Of golden memories,
The loveliest lies of all,
The loveliest lies of all.
I love every aspect of the series from the choice of colors to the character design and the music and everything it’s so beautiful and just the right amount of creepy but still adorable at the same time
Man...autumn really is just the best season.
Over the garden wall is like shoving the aesthetic of fall into a tv show. The cozy vibes are amazing.
It's winter now here, i'm listening to this lovely song from my room, and seeing the cloudy, rainy and cold landscape through the window. Greetings from SP, Brazil. Thanks so much for share it with us.
OTGW is like being in a dream where you know you're in a dream but you can't figure out how to wake up. But you don't know if you want to.
I love it.
Praise be to the best animated series ever
My wife and I just watched this show for the first time, after hearing about it for years.
It's so special
It sounds more like a crackly record playing than rain, which honestly works even better for this show!
This arc was my favourite on the show. So atmospheric!
i can't wait to watch OTGW again this time in the year.
This on my living room with my beautiful wife, some warm candles and a nice fireplace. Simple things are precious!
Happy Halloween - 2024
Were back for another cozy fall
To be honest, I cannot believe how beautiful this piece of art is
This really reminds me of Over the Green Wall.
I can’t imagine why….
This music makes me want to sing my heart out and cry at the same time. Sometimes more of the latter than the former, but I love it so much.
I love that i hated this show at relise, and still fully watched it every time new episode comed out.
this show has legitimently one of the best soundtracks i gave ever heard oml. send me a peach is in my lifetime top 10 on spotify just because i revisited the song religously after rewatching the show. itll always be very dear to my heart.
Over the garden Wall has forever marked all my falls and Halloween’s. And my childhood too
I recently showd this series to my younger sister who's almost 8 and she absolutely loved it.
there's an odd sensation about Over The Garden Wall's music.
It's definitely worth watching. Think "Alice in Wonderland" if it was written by Washington Irving, with a bit of Dante's Divine Comedy thrown in.
watch it! just over an hour of content; its phenomenal
Definitely recommend watching some theory videos around the show as well (and reading some of the comicbook spin-offs because they also give more details about some of the characters in the series). It's probably no accident that elements in the Unknown feel like inching closer to death...
I just watched it all today randomly while scrolling through Hulu
it's funny how the unknown feels ironically familiar
Now I wish there was autumn where I live... This show's soundtrack is too good
Over the garden wall makes me feel like I’ve lived too long even as a youth. When I hear this I feel like I’m going somewhere and never returning. I long for it.
THIS IS ALL I NEEDED, i cannot wait for fall season.. best season of them all
I WAS WONDERING WHY I COULDNT FIND THIS VIDEO AGAIN! thank you!
hard to believe we're coming up to a decade of otgw. i watched it on the premier when i was maybe 11 and have repeated it every year since. one of the best written and most beautifully animated cartoons of all time- there's so much passion put into the story and the characters, every performance is flawless and it has such a gorgeous soundtrack to boot. i'm so fortunate to have gotten to grow up with the show, i'm certain it's changed my brain chemistry for the better more than once. beautiful mix of songs, by the way- the blasting company knocked it out the park and your playlist suits the mood perfectly. i hope you're doing well, wherever you are.
This! ive made it a distinct point to invite a bunch of friends on halloween night to watch it from start to end. its one of the few things that brings the entire friend group together
looking at pictures like this always fill me with wonder; i wonder whats out there? past the trees, beyond the fog.
It is as the show described: the unknown 😊
new england, and then canada eventually
Thank you! I listen to this while studying or doing school work.
I rewatch this show every year for my birthday 🎃🎂
I finally watched this show for the first time a few days ago I know I’m like 9 years late but fell in love with it
it’s a really beautiful show I think anyone would like it no matter what age
I’ll be listening to this playlist forever now
I’m really happy I got to watch Over The Garden Wall and in the fall it’s so perfect!! I’m gonna watch it every time it’s fall season now lol
anyways thank you to the creators of the show and everyone who worked on it and thank you to who made this playlist I wish you all well 🫶
Over the Garden wall was so magical. It made the frightening comfortable and the mundane unsettling.
The more lucid you become during a dream, the further you are from it. We want life and experience to make sense. That's often not in our individual control. Folk tales can offer a methodology but rarely an answer. On behalf of the Pottsville Chamber of Commerce, I thank you for your work.
Man, over the garden wall...I loved it so much
I got this on vinyl for Christmas and im so excited for fall to roll around so I can play it, genuinely the best soundtrack of any show/movie ever
This music always makes me in the mood for fall.
I always get obsessed with OTGW every fall. It's like a seasonal tradition and I love it.
Just saw this little gem for the first time today. Easily becoming one of my favorite comfort shows. 🍁 🎃 🐸 🧡
The series was short but worth it, now was really the perfect time to watch it
love the spooky one starting around 9:38
Do you know what is called ? Vvery Beutifil .
Its called: The Journey Begins
it's that time of year again 🍁🍂
Just vibing to this while trying to study for and international finance exam. wish me luck!
Listening to this, on October 14th, 3:58pm, in the +15 sunny weather? at a restaurant balcony at a golf course, in west Kelowna. This music is a perfectly quant theme to play and enjoy this black coffee. Thank you for uploading this, I appreciate and salute you 🙏
I would love my life to be exactly how this sounds
simple, delicious, emotive, playful, misterious, autumn, moods, tea, a cozy campfire and fairytales.
It gives me so much nostalgia for a simpler time, watching this series
My heart and soul right here❤
Nakakarelax naman ang garden wall music with background of rain.
I have so much nostalgia for an era that never existed.
That was not an era, but a short time period :)
@@lekt6992 specific location, its 1890s new england with a folktale twist, its fun to think it borders a modern city
I watched this show for the first time in 2019, want to rewatch it every autumn, reminds me of a simpler time 🍂🍁
The Unknown is a beautiful place.
Tony Soprano's near-death experience during his coma in The Sopranos was his sort of the Unknown, where he took the identity of Kevin Finnerty and he reached the end point at the Inn at the Oaks (just like Christopher experienced clinical death and saw an Irish pub named The Emerald Piper), just like Wirt and Greg dressing up for Halloween.
Over the Garden Wall is my absolute favourite show! And the voice of Elija Wood is just brilliant, love him so much!!!
Imagine if James Gandolfini would be alive, he could've voiced Wirt's stepfather.
I listen to this all year around, when college starts getting harder and harder I just play this silly little video with silly video music from an amazing silly little show and my silly little big assignments get done. Tysm
Three years ago I remember searching up Autumn music to get in the mood for fall and I came across this video and thinking how cool the pumpkin looked and then reading the comments to find out this was a show I could watch on Hulu. Immediately I went to my bedroom and loaded up Hulu and got in bed while my wife was asleep and quietly watched the whole show at 3 a.m. one of my favorite shows of all time!

this is probably the best lo fi video i ever listened to.
Todas as vezes que me sinto sozinha ou confusa com os meus sentimentos, venho aqui ouvir esse sonzinho de fundo. Me sinto profundamente confortável e acolhida. 🍂
Just watch this today. It’s a fall tradition now.
my friend played some otgw songs on my birthday... maybe as a joke? maybe because they know how much I enjoy the music? I'm not sure but my birthday is in January. Ever since then, the music has been popping up here and there. and so here I am again at this wonderful playlist in the midst of winter. Im not complaining in fact why not? im not going to restrict myself from this amazing music just to three months of the year.
its fall again!! last fall i watched this series for the first time after I was unfortunately separated from my half little brother. the episode where gregory leaves wirit made me cry sm. happy that i am in a better chapter of my life in time for this rewatch and will soon have Halloween movie night with my little brother !
