THANK YOU SOOO MUCH FOR THE KINDNESS, RECOGNITION and not dismissing us sensitive, empathic souls. 🙏😘 I can be very painful and hurtful not to be heard over and over again. Or worse, laughed at when in a state of genuine emotion. I refuse to shove my feelings back down my throat any longer. Lol lost alot of friends after I took personal inventory. Hurt at first but much better in long run. 🌈⭐

I have OCD, with violent, sexual, blasphemous intrusive thoughts. which led to a period of depersonalisation, in recovery now as result of Exposure Response Prevention therapy (and 20mg of Fluoxetine). Honestly I tried all of those tips but they only thing that worked for me was to embrace the thoughts head on, non resistance by giving them total approval and acceptance which turned off the fight or flight switch in my brain every time a thought popped up, which allowed the thoughts no matter how disturbing to just float in and out with ease and non attachment and allowed me to see the truth that I don't want to hurt anyone, and just because you have dark thoughts doesn't mean you are a dark person.

Well put, friend, well put. Just because you have dark thoughts does not mean you are a dark person. Thoughts and actions are two different things. There's not a one of us who hasn't been down that road. So glad to hear your therapy and medication are working for you. Your future belongs to you. No one can take that from you. I encourage you to keep in mind a beautiful promise from God Himself that says: "For I know the plans that I have for you, plans to prosper you and not to harm you; plans to give you hope and a future." Same, I got rid of my toxic thought pattern in December and they came back out of nowhere, Everything stopped working for me, my memory randomly goes out, when I try to think it’s like all 70,000 thoughts you have a day all come out at once, another problem I have is anything I’m good at my ability to be good at it disappears randomly.
I notice these thoughts happening & it makes me mad at myself, only difference here is I’m not toxic to others my self talk is toxic often screaming at myself to stfu & stop thinking. I can’t stop fighting with myself

I have dealt with obsessive, intrusive thoughts ever since I was a child. My thoughts would torture me and I would have no recourse, until I eventually discovered the thought substitution method on my own. I was surprised to see in this video that I even used the same word, I would say "Cancel!" and picture a red "X". I am still using it to this day and it is so ingrained a habit in me that for the most part I no longer suffer from the dreadful thoughts, I just have slight impulses of anxiety, which I have been getting better and better at tucking away.

    The answer-
For anyone reading this, I want to tell you I have suffered from every kind of intrusive thought that you can imagine but let me tell you the solution is much easier than what our mind makes it look like.
The simple fact of this world is that thoughts cannot be controlled and our over sensitive brains are now NOT OKAY with the idea of “bad” thoughts. But the idea of them being bad and us pushing them away is what is keeping them alive. So now what do we do? Just observe them. Just simply observe them. Read the book the Power Of Now if you want some clarity regarding the idea of it but its that simple. The tags of good and bad have become so strong in your mind that now you cannot handle certain thoughts. Its really simple. Dont worry. Godspeed

Can you please do a video on how to get past obsessive memories, not just negative thoughts but rather actual things that happened, maybe regrets or trauma? Images of the past that keep surfacing that bother you and you thought you dealt with them but they follow you around and ruin the present moment. Things like that 💛

Perhaps those persistent memories come from a traumatic experience. If so, you may want to find a therapist who works with trauma. Here is a video I did on the subject.

Thank you for your kind words. There's a book called brain lock by Jeffrey Schwartz that talks about obsessive thinking. I made a video about it called "how to get free of OCD"

Only just came across this....what a wonderful person. The fact his advice was helpful and compassionately delivered was a bonus. The best clinicians are the ones who have been through this sort of thing themselves.

I imagine myself holding my inner child like a parent would and ask them questions as to why they are upset. Works really well for me

I started experiencing symptoms of my OCD a little over three years ago. My intrusive thoughts were violent, homicidal, and gruesome. It made me feel so debilitated and broken because I had never been a violent person and these intrusive thoughts (visions of killing people I knew and loved) were shocking me to the core. If you have something like this, where what pops into your mind is so terrifying and gruesome that you feel you can’t tell anyone about it due to the way they’ll react, you need to tell them anyways. Talk to the people you love. Explain your fears. Go to a therapist. Get it out. You’d be surprised how much better it feels to explain it to someone else so they can help you be rational and feel less insane. Also, if you are dealing with stuff like this, make sure that you’re in good physical health! Bad physical health will always make mental health way worse. I pray for anyone that goes through this and I know how difficult it is. Stay strong everybody!

I'm so glad we live in a time where this is addressed as serious and not written off as ridiculous like in the old days. I'm glad people are studying this more and more and getting more knowledge about it to help people who suffer, like myself. Thank you!
