Golf+ - Amateur Daily Tournament - July 14, 2024 - Kapalua

Another round that just re-affirms why I don't like when the daily's are on the front tees. I shot a 59 (-14) and I'm in 20th place. Will likely be around 30th place when the day's over, if not worse. Did I play super great? No. I definitely didn't play well enough to deserve first. But the difference right now between 20th and 1st is only 3 shots. I just don't think the front tee rounds really test the skills appropriately of all the players. I also see folks who have won a diamond league weekly tournament before down in the 30's right now. And to be clear, I'm not trying to make excuses. In the end, we all play the same course and I have the same shot as everyone else. I just prefer the tougher settings as I usually do really well in those. It makes sure you hit fairways, be more accurate with your irons, and be solid with your putting. It tests the all around game a lot more and that's when I tend to do better.
