Fantastic video. Thank you. I'm in a similar situation; I have rare brake components that aren't easily replaced. I need to rebuild them, and your video clarifies the process. Thanks.
Absolutely great! Thank you, BTW "iconel" is Inconel ( IN-con-Ell) A high temperature corrosion resistant alloy used in heating elements, exhaust valves, pyrometers, turbines, etc.
Thanks Don, another helpful video. One question, how can u tell if the sensor works? The metal nipple doesn't seem to be able to be depressed. Should it?
Just want to comment on my '69 XR7 I was able to get the dist block off easily with the hood and hinge removed and mc/booster in place. The instructions are great am doing the block rebuild now.
Hi Classic Cougar. I found a brake booster for my Bird. Now my question is: are there any differences between GM & Ford proportioning valves, or are they all Universal Fit?
where are all of the custom wrenches from trying to get those lines loose? I have a four speed big block car and the clutch pedal lever is right there! Great video and good parts from WCCC too. I did the job with this video right next to me. The Mach 1 stops WAY better.
Why did you remove the splash well and do you have more video on how to remove it. I am working on a 1966 Thunderbird and need to get to items behind the splash well.
curious if those western safety gloves turned your hands black if you got brake fluid on them , it happened to me .. took a week to get the black off my hands ..
Hi Mario, That depends on what year you are looking for. Here is a link to what we have: secure.cougarpartscatalog.com/store/Search.aspx?CatID=15901&SearchTerms=%22Proportional%20valve%22%20%22Distribution%20block%22&Type=OR
very informative video. I feel the need to critique your editing though. I like that the music stopped playing while you are talking. But, the in your face white flashover is very annoying. I'm concentrating on what you are doing and get blasted with a white strobe every few seconds.
make 100 percent sure you have these valves checked twice or three times over, because i call a bad proportioning valve the monster under the bed, or king of the nile. because not any ole average joe can drive it down the road and tell its bad. its one of those things that you wont be able to tell is actually bad until your brains are splattered all over the road. i just had to make sure thursday we had one of these replaced at our dealership, and the last one was almost 10 years ago and i hope its atleast another 10 years before i find another bad one
You have no idea how fortunate you are to be working with no rust parts! There are no such parts like that here in Michigan!
NICE Cougar !
FYI - You should only use o-rings made from Ethylene Propylene Diene Monomer (EPDM) so the brake fluid doesn't damage them.

10 years and still helpful - thanks :-)

My 68 has a Dist block + Prop valve. Great video as always, Don. these things are expensive used. Guess I'll try my hand at rebuilding mine.

Excellent video and tutorial, but I think I would rather just install a new adjustable proportioning valve.

1968 coupe I have does not have a way to get the differential piston out like this video. Any ideas how to safely remove it with out damage?
