AN AMERICAN WEREWOLF IN LONDON - BBC AUDIOBOOK By John Landis & Dirk Maggs
Вставка
- Опубліковано 5 жов 2024
- Expanding on the story told in the original 1981 film by telling a new beginning and an alternate ending - featuring three of the film’s stars reprising their original roles, it was adapted and directed by Dirk Maggs based on the film by John Landis.
Jenny Agutter as Nurse Alex Price
John Woodvine as Dr. Hirsch
Brian Glover as George Hackett
Eric Meyers as David Kessler
William Dufris as Jack Goodman
Eve Kopf as Nurse Gallagher
Michael Roberts as Larry Talbot
David Bannerman as Inspector Villiers
Mervyn Stutter as Sergeant McManus
Mark Lowen as the kid
Other parts members of the cast.
The role of the landlady of the pub is uncredited, sounds like Eve Kopf, but it sounds a lot like Lila Kaye from the movie, so could be either.
First broadcast on BBC Radio 1 in April 1997.

I've always thought that the first werewolf, the one that bites David, was the brother of the guy who tells the joke in The Slaughtered Lamb. That's why he's so keen on keeping it a secret.
Didn’t occur to me watching the film but makes sense.
I love this movie finally in an audio book
I love the extra at the beginning that puts it more in context for the feature.
These actors create a thrilling atmosphere of suspense! Brilliant!👍
It’s a good listen isn’t it
Loved this extended version of the film directed and written by John Landis.I'd be fantastic for a new reboot of this iconic motion picture from the 80's So nice to hear ab audiobook of this comedy/horror classic by the BBC.Enjoyed it so much!!
@@RubenGarciaJr-z4h brilliant audio book. Re make had been on and off so many times
Brilliant, I love it, one of my favourite films
@@lindaphillips598 mine too. Absolutely love the film.
I wish Alex would give David the kiss of true love so the wolf's curse will be broken.
Really good interpretation of the film. Have listened to this a few times now. Very atmospheric and love how they have some of the original cast doing this as well. 👍🏻
Yes fantastic they got the cast they did. And love the extra opening of how the werewolf escaped
This is awesome!!! My childhood horror favourite now in audiobook... So happy to listen to this beautifully done audiobook. The sound effects and bgm is extraordinary.
I remember watching a pirate of this movie when I was seven. Fell off sofa when Jack gets attacked.
I enjoyed this a lot, especially the alternate beginning and end.
Very enjoyable listen
Thanks for watching and dropping a comment
I liked how they added Nurse Price and Dr Kersh had little discussion on the possibility of the curse being real in the form of some ancient infection from Eastern Europe
Very enjoyable listen isn’t it
Wow!!! Totally awesome!! I’m this audio there’s so much more info than the movie, of which I am a HUGE fan.
In this audio, that opening scene at the looney-bin, and the info about the first guy/monster was brother of boss dude at East Proctor, and how we get to hear what things are like for Jack while in limbo, and so, sooo much more! It was so cool!! Bravo!! To the folks that put it all together. From a true fan, Thank You. ; )
This was very entertaining better and I loved it wish we had the visuals for this script version 💯👍🏾
@@wardawg50 it’s fantastic isn’t it. Especially the new parts added into it.
@@bullbaylissMusic yes it’s way better than the actual movie my opinion
@@wardawg50 has anyone ever told you how wise and clever you are.
@@bullbaylissMusic Thanks I appreciate the compliment
This is fun. The film would've been a stone classic if they'd cast an actual actor in the David Kessler role.
@@humanbeing2420 one of my favorite films for sure
Absolutely loved this ..I'm a huge fan of the movie ( any werewolf film really )...I didn't even know this existed ...I love expansion of the story like the alternate beginning and end aswell as all the little added scenes like dr hirchs investigation ....Alex and Dr hirch discussing the ancient curse from Europe...thanx so much for the upload ...Will definitely listen to to this again
Yes, I agree with you. I did enjoy the extended storyline of this audiobook.
Fantastic. Just as entertaining as the film.
It’s a very good listen. After hearing this I would have loved for the opening story to have been in the film at the asylum.
I also liked the extra character development of the first werewolf and family
@@bullbaylissMusic That would have been great.
Defo one of my favourite horror films of all time and one of the very best werewolf films of all time for me
@@bullbaylissMusic Completely agree.
Very cool! Thanks for sharing!
It’s a good listen isn’t it
I can’t get over the wealth of lore and material that can be expanded on this movie , Michael Myers’s doesn’t really need explanation in Halloween but this needs a novelization at the very least
It’s a great listen
1:33:32 Moon's rising.
Didn’t mean to call you a meat loaf Jack
IS THAT MICHAEL KOVACH
@LUP1N33 really couldn’t tell you
@@bullbaylissMusicyeah I know it wasn't XD
1:04:26 The Transformation
Great audio book isn’t it
Oh no! 😦😧😨
20:13 INCOMING!!!!!!!!! 😱🐺😈👹
David sounds almost like Kenai from Brother Bear
Where’s the scene where David transforms?
It’s in there. And it’s a very good scene too.
Lol David Naughton was my first crush at 16 years old 😂
@@ceciliamercado9429 ha ah brilliant. And you got to see a lot of your crush too. Gets naked does he not
Btw here is something to think sbout. What if alex is impregnated by David would the baby Carry the curse.🤔🤔
This was covered in AN AMERICAN WEREWOLF IN PARIS. she was left pregnant and her baby killed her whilst turning into a werewolf leaving her desperate for a cure
I wondered would this be the case because David was bitten by a werewolf so he wasnt a natural one.
Nonetheless, he was wolf at the point of death, so he could have had full lupine cellular structure takeover by then.
If they do a remake of American werewolf in London how cool will it be if they use the asylum part of the book in the remake with your honest opinion how cool will it be if they do an American werewolf in London remake or they could use a female character to play David Kessler and have a female werewolf what do you think about that idea
I would love the scenes and character development in the audio book to be used in a remake for sure.
I would like the main character to be male though l, female werewolf was done in the sequel werewolf in Paris
I know they had a female werewolf in the sequel but all I'm saying is don't you think it will be an interesting idea if they had an female werewolf if they did a sequel to American werewolf in London but with your honest opinion who do you think they'll cast for if they had a female actress to play the part of David Kessler so you think it will be a bad idea if they had a female actress who played the part of David and a female werewolf
I’m up for a remake and would like to see Al characters stay the same sex etc but I wouldn’t be too disappointed should they change lead to a woman etc if that means they get to do a remake
I wouldn’t have any prob with David’s role being a woman; as long as there wasn’t any over sexualization, if she still went through the incomprehensible pain of the physical transformation, yeah I can see that as a cool take on it.
@@scottwalker5379 could I play it? 🐾😶🌫️
5:41 I can tell they was having alot of fun
Absolutely sounds like it lol. Great audio book
@@bullbaylissMusic was this the original script for the movie?
No extended for the radio audio recording.
@@bullbaylissMusic oh ok
The original beginning is much better. I don't think the first wolf needed a backstory. The same applies to the villagers origin.
Is that really Brian Glover's voice over?
I though he had passed away.
I thank G-d for You
It’s a great little listen isn’t it
I have this on the original audio tape in its case if anyone is interested. Perfectly good condition, a classic. £100.
@@neilmaguire1444 what a piece for the collection that would be
The werewolf sounds like an elephant.
Most likely a sound they used in the mix probably
It sounds like Dino De Laurentis's King Kong.
@@ashleywalker1411 have to give it a listen
They should remake this movie and put more werewolf in it. And not a bunch of computer generated effects. A mixture of CGI and old fashioned effects is what's called for. Similar to what they did in the remake of The WolfMan.
I love the original film. Especially loved the four legged werewolf. And that transformation scene is still the best. Time robs it of absolutely nothing.
We almost got a remake and by John landis son. I think it had died a death presently.
We need more werewolf movies. 🐾
@@bullbaylissMusic did it get finished?
@@ashleywalker1411 no they keep coming to a stand still every time they get the ball rolling.
1:48:46 Beware The Moon 🌕

Is this a reading of a novelization, or the BBC radio play?
BBC radio play. It’s a good listen isn’t it
Kind of like the War of the Worlds broadcast
Yes this was a really good audiobook
Fantastic twists
