    Welcome back to The Ultimate Tech Hub. On today's episode we will unbox and install a UPS from APC. We will attempt to install this UPS in our already over-crowded Network Panel. Watch until the end to see if we succeed or fail. A Home Network should always have a UPS to provide power when power is not available due to blackouts or brownouts. This APC UPS retails for $59.99 at Sam's Club or Amazon. If you have any questions about this video please leave them in the comments down below. Many viewers have asked about UPS Batteries and where you should install them. In this video we will attempt to install this APC UPS ( BN675M1 ) inside of our Home Network Panel. Our Network Panel is very crowded so this will be a tough job. So please watch until the end of the video to see if we succeed or fail. Thanks for watching!

    Funny - I had the same challenge in my network cabinet. But, I found a slim line UPS made for the cabinet and nothing in there needs much power. It works really good, too. CyberPower and TRIPP-LITE are what I use.
    Nice organization in you box, too. Looks a lot like mine, even with everything going wireless.
    I love APC and AMAZON UPSs for my computers, but they are way to big, heavy and bulky to use in a network cable cabinet. One is only as deep as the 2x4 studs. But, at least you found a UPS with the outlets on the top side, because if they stick up the front, you wouldn't be able to close the door.
    I also noticed you have one of the new ABS plastic cabinets. Mine is an older metal box, which required wifi routers outside the box. I use a wire rack shelf.

    Well this is kinda funny, today I received my UPS I bought from Amazon Warehouse yesterday.
    I'm using it for my network to and here you are uploading a video on basically a very similar thing haha.
    Nice to see you got it fitted in nicely and looks tidy.
    Thanks for the video

      Which UPS did you buy? I went with APC because of the good reviews and it was only $59 at Sam's Club. I hope I NEVER have to rewire my Network panel ever again! Haha. Thanks for watching Tony!

      I also got a APC, it's the APC ES - BE850G2-UK
      Normally its £125 but on a warehouse deal I paid just £65. The box looks terrible but the actual UPS looks good. Plus if push came to shove I can buy a new battery for around £20 to £25 of around £45 for a genuine APC one, so no matter what I am still saving money :D haha
      Them panels are great and kind of wish I had one but a network panel is no substitute for a proper network cabinet but the downside is they are bulky haha.
      No worries, I always try to keep an eye out for your videos :)

    Just a idea next time mount the UPS with the mounting holes out side the low voltage panel (maybe above or below it, or where ever you want) and run an extention cord into the panel or build a extention cable with romex so it up to code for being in a wall. That way you wouldn't have to reconfigure everything and loose valuable space in there.

    Did you make a follow up to this where you configured the NUT settings for graceful shut downs?

    Having a UPS is great to keep providing power to your home network, But these UPSes would tell you how many minutes it will run off the battery, They would run for a couple of minutes depending on how many devices are plugged into it. You have to take into account if a power outage goes on for even longer, The battery will run out eventually. These things are good if the Power outages are short, like say power goes out for 1 minute, But if you experience a power outage that lasted for say 30 minutes to an hour, The battery on these UPSes will eventually run out.

      That's exactly what this is designed for. No more than 30 or 45 minutes for all of the network devices. Also it's better for electronics not just shutting down improperly. Power surges can damage network devices as well. Thank you for watching I really appreciate it.

    Can u use the USB C to power modem or Ethernet? Since the 24 v doesn't fit my modemn

    • @UltimateTechHub
      @UltimateTechHub  Рік тому

      No I would not use the USB C to power the modem. It should plug in to a power outlet.

    Can you either get a 12-15 port (made for odd shapes), ups, or put a standard ups in another surge protector without issues or fire safety? Can you do it extremely cheap? Im on a tight budget, and i have lots of equipment and few walls. I cant rewire them. If not, i guess ill never get a ups...

    • @UltimateTechHub
      @UltimateTechHub  2 роки тому

      You can use a standard UPS and add a surge protector for more outlets without any fire danger.

    How long do you expect that can keep it all running in a power outage.

    Home network panel? Jesus when is this 1979? Do people actually hardwire home networks in the 21st Century? My whole home network is wireless and backed up to a 2kw UPS. The only thing hardwired is my main desktop PC to the router

      Some people do a little more on their network than just respond to emails and read Buzfeed articles so they might need a little extra bandwidth

    • @h3ll0_2
      @h3ll0_2 4 місяці тому

      And someone could jam your wireless signal. So yeah. People still hardwire.
