Solid round! You were absolutely jamming putts with the Penny and killing drives with the Dos X! Thank you for taking the time to do a review on our plastic. You never know, maybe your final thoughts aren't too far away from becoming reality ;)
@@LoneStarDisc actually... Send a box to Robbie C too... Then let's get the collab thing going on with a video discussing their thoughts and potentially awkward differing conclusions.
My bag is steadily becoming overtaken by lone star. Pennys for putting, jackrabbit and armadillo for getting under the basket. Love the mad cat and harpoon. Warbird is too stable for me to be my biggest distance driver, but still very useful, I agree they have a gap there. I'm gonna try a couple more fairways, and I've barely touched their midranges yet.
I like that the Warbird has those particular planes on the stamp. They're not actually warbirds, but what they are was the primary fighter pilot training plane for the last phase of air combat training. What is super neat and clever to me though, is that the name of that airplane is the T-6 Texan... Fits their theme perfectly, but not obviously.
That’s cool! I always like those subtle things that not everyone would know about… like I wouldn’t have known at all that it wasn’t actually a war bird 😂
I have a few of their discs and I love them! The armadillo is an amazing upshot disc, holds whatever line you put it on, and the lariat is a wonderful driver!
Personally, I consistently throw my two curls, and they are EXACTLY like wraiths, but have more dome and are significantly more glidey. Thanks for the video, but give the curl another try (in a non-glow premium plastic)! 😎🤙🏼
Yeah. I remember people saying it was like the Wraith. But this one I got was definitely flippy! I will have to try out an Alpha one because I absolutely love my Wraiths!
@@ApolloDiscGolf Absolutely! Once I started using my curls as my go-to driver, I really fell in love with them. Less flip for me than my lucid raider, but a bit more than a star destroyer for instance. Have a great day, and thanks for the video!
I’m also slowing gaining more molds from Lonestar in my bag. The Bravo Texas Ranger has become my go to disc, hands down. The Alpha Texas Ranger I have is actually a little more stable than the bravo, which sounds like the opposite of how those plastics are supposed to operate. The Alpha has a dome to it, the bravo is board flat. LOVE it.
In my experience the more stiff plastic is generally more stable, so the Alpha being more stable makes sense to me! I think the gummy plastics that are more overstable are usually the outliers and exceptions!
Oh the MAC is great! And when Shawnee Mission is set up for the MAC is when it’s the most fun for me. I love that challenging layout! Especially with the OB they have. It’s challenging but fair. Makes you really control the entire flight of the disc! Makes for some great separation!
LSD claims the V1 and V2 plastic float but I don’t think anyone has made a video showing it. If you do a video on any of these disc would be cool to include that
The V2 plastic is very durable for being base. Discraft’s baseline is embarrassing chunks so easy. The Jack Rabbit surprised me, glide and stability of a P2 with a comfortable bead.
I agree with the distance drivers lacking a bit. However, the glow bravo plastic is the most understable in my opinion. If you get the chance to try the Curl in Alpha plastic I would highly recommend. Although its not quite on the wraith level, it has much more stability to the point where I throw it in 10-15mph winds with no issues, and is probably closer to filling that gap you feel is missing. I would compare the Alpha plastic curl to something like the Westside Discs Boatman
love that you gave LSD some love and showcased their products. I throw the Armadillo and love it. great job with the video!!! would love to see a Robbie C collab!!
Oh the MadCat was great! I think I only threw it once or twice on this round... The one I got was somewhere between the Thunderbird and the Firebird in both glide and stability!
Very cool. I would love to get a whole bag of one of these smaller companies to check them out. I do want to check out the Era and Texas Ranger Those are my two discs that I am getting next. I do need a mid that I can forehand too. Everyone says to get a Zone. Should pick up one of those too.
Lol I literally was just thinking about this xD hahahaha I’m actually been liking what LoneStar has been doing with their line up of discs. Seems like they’re taking lots of the “pro molds” and cloning them ❤️ which is a good thing haha Tell them to make a ZFLX plastic Machete 🔥😉😉😉😉😉 Kmon Lone Star hehe Seems like you got the power bro. How you liking the Bowie?
Yeah, the Bowie was good! The rim was a little too wide for my liking... I have smaller hands so I usually gravitate toward 11 speed rims, any faster isn't as comfortable for me and I just can't get good rips on them. Don't know why... But the Bowie was nice and stable! not like a Machete though! more like a Force type disc imo
I know it's now months after you posted this vid, but given your critique at the end I would love to see you review the recently released Nimitz by Lone Star since it sounds like exactly what you are looking for in a distance driver by them.
Hey Apollo! I’d love to see you throw Rosie in KC lol I live about 5 minutes from SMDGC, I don’t play it often because they like to leave the pins in the long position and I can’t throw far enough
Yeah, in the summer they keep those baskets pretty long. Especially recently since they had the MAC and the KCWO is in a few weeks. I love playing Rosie! It turned a little more than I had originally thought it would, so would definitely need more time to learn it!
