I'm also going to show you how to put the freeze dried ginger root powder into a capsule. These have proven to be a great addition to my nutrition and are a superfood packed into a small package.

I ordered a 00 capsule machine last week for this kind of thing. I already have a 0 for smaller dose herbs. One of my favorite ways to use these powders is in honeys. I made a freeze-dried peach-ginger-cinnamon honey this summer that was absolutely fantastic.

I take 2 turmeric and 1 ginger cap every day
I make Ginger and tumeric powder. I don't even cut it. I just put it up into a food processor , freeze it and then freeze-dried that. then once that's done, then I put it back into a food processor to make it into a complete powder. works for me pretty well. Also, can you suggest a good product to test the moisture in the food? Thinks
Sounds great! I don't see a need to peel either when making powder. Moisture testing is really just a guess. The best way to ensure the food is finished is to weigh at the end of the cycle. If you feel like it's a possibility of not being done, add time and weigh again at the end. If there is a weight difference, more water has been removed. Repeat until there is no change.
Your last video on making Beet capsules caused Herb Affair to sell out of the 00 size! I was only able to order my set last night. Good thing that I didn't wait any longer, I'll bet that they sell out again!

It's probably possible with powdered and dehydrated ingredients
Brian, I’ve been doing ginger for quite a while I just throw it into my food processor throw it onto the tray freeze dry it and then after it’s done freeze drying throw it back into the food processor and powder it and it’s done. Large and xl would have to have something hard wired. There are some options out there, but I never wanted to splice my power cord
I always store my freeze dried items in mylar bags with oxygen absorbers. How is it that you can fd ginger, powder, and put in capsules and it won't absorb moisture before you get a change to use them all? Are you using the vacuum chamber each time you take one out? Thanks.
Powders do well as long as you are not exposing them to large amounts of moisture. If they are in a capsule and in a sealed jar, there is not much chance for moisture getting to them. They would likely last many years if stored properly.

Does the pump take the whole blue container of oil? I never saw any line.
It should not take an entire quart.
I like to use my ginger in kombucha. I clean it well, leave skins on, thinly slice then freeze dry. When doing my second ferment, I add several slices per bottle. Yummy! Need to look into growing my own now. Great video!

I actually tried dehydrating my ginger to use in tea and in my kombucha. It's amazing. I do fd it for seasoning.
Tip: Peel ginger with a spoon... you'll never go back...

Do you ever add time or just let it run and will it run until done
I usually do not have to but if in doubt add extra. Weighing after, adding time etc. will determine with certainty, if it's complete
