  • Less than 10% of Americans get the recommended amount of greens. If you have a freeze dryer, it's easier than ever to get the proper amount of greens by making spinach greens powder. You can also do this with many other types of greens. Watch this comprehensive tutorial on freeze drying spinach greens and learn how to retain their vibrant color, texture, and nutrients. When you have freeze dried greens, you can enjoy these delicious greens all year round. Once powdered, the greens retain almost all of their nutrients, but NOT all of their flavor. You can Freeze Dry Spinach Greens for Long-Term Storage in a powder form and also capsule them or add them to recipes while cooking, baking or a stir fry, for a simple way to get your daily recommended amount. This video showcases a simplified method that anyone can follow, ensuring you have a stash of healthy greens readily available whenever needed.

The healthiest way to eat spinach is to lightly steam it and then put it in your blender. The calcium and iron can not be absorbed by your body unless cooked. However, because of the oxalates in spinach your body can only absorb about 5%. That is why a i took it off my list. It would be better not to isolate just one green. For instance if you added a little kale, 40 % calcium absorption, to that you would boost not only you're vit C and A but the most valuable K vitamin! A supergreen that helps with bones blood and heart. It makes the greens a little earthier, great for soups. However, if you don't like that in smoothies add a handful of super-charged blueberries and whip it with the green. Such a immune cancer busting cube! If you gonna do it go all the way for your health. Also I have researched and found that bagged vegetables are sprayed to keep them fresh for weeks in that bag. So you could be buying weeks old food with little value! Best to buy fresh spinach kale etc, or grow it. The extra prep will have great benefits in the end. Greens are heavily sprayed with pesticides, we don't like buying holes in or leaves, go figue. So best should be organic because the pesticides are concentrated in freeze dried. Just a 75 yr old heath nut here trying to help keep us healthier. When SHTF You want to know you have put up the healthiest foods possible.

Thanks for the info. My husband and I grow as much of our own as we can and I was mad at him for not planting spinach last year. We did plant kale so I guess he's out of the doghouse. :D

I just harvest spinach etc.. from the garden then put it in the freeze dryer. Maybe not as efficient as blending. I then put the powder into everything that i can. Thanks for making these UA-cam videos as I always learn something new form you and the comments as well.

I'm going to do an experiment soon. Going to freeze dry potatoe sets. See if they can be re constituted and sprout.

I have a collection of little bits of powders I have mostly used....I might do some greens and combine them all to make a vitamin. We're almost done with a container of beets, time to expand! Yes, the capsules are small doses but I think consistency is way more important than being perfect a couple days a week and falling off the wagon the rest. It's just an easy way to bump up nutrition levels, particularly if you already eat pretty well.

I’m lazy. I harvest my greens and pack them in Tupperware as tight as possible. After freezing it, I can put it on the trays to freeze dry. The powder goes in my smoothies.

I just did a ton of fresh spinach. I put the leafs into a food processor and then into the tray without adding any water. I then pre-froze the trays of spinach and then freeze dried them. I then put it back into the food processor and it came out very fine. I personally I don’t see why adding water in the beginning is necessary. I did have some dry spinach end up in the bottom of the freeze drier so perhaps the paste would help eliminate it going airborne during the drying process but it was very minimal.

BRIAN, how do you feel about a multi part series with soup. Start with the vegetables of choice (fresh, canned or frozen), and meat (your choice), let's freeze dry the vegetables and meat (cooked). From there you can show us how to fill some mason jars for long term storage (ready to eat), we could even fill some mylar bags. I simply believe soup stored in ready to go containers is so versatile when SHTF. It would be an absolute from garden to jar/ mylar bag. I know you have some video's of soup that are awesome but I was just thinking how great it would be to show soup from farm to jar/ mylar bag.

Brian, I am going to add thi s to my morning concotion. I currently have a powder that consists of liver, beets, flax seed, metamucil, apple cider vinegar, lemon and maybe one or two other ingredients (I have to write down my recipe). each ingredient is added as 1 tbsp to my concoction. I add 3 tbsp of the powder to water in the morning and chug it down. I really do not taste any of the individual ingredients as it goes down. Thanks for the inspiration

For awhile there, I was freeze drying my fruits and veggies and using them in smoothies. 10%? Haha, there's no way they'd know that unless they asked every person in the US. I know way more people who eat plenty of greens than not. : ) I need to start freeze drying them again, as I ate them all already.

Since you posted your video on “ Don’t buy a Small before You See this video” has put me in a tail spin on buying a small vs a md. The only reason I leaning towards the small is now 4 trays and the smaller foot print and can be moved a by one person . Ugh I need to make a decision lol.
Question: can you freeze dry cold pressed green juice and make into a power? Has anyone tried that and how did it turn out when adding water .

Did you run the cycle with only two trays? I thought we had to have all trays full to run a cycle for the machine to work efficiently.

It's just using the same amount of energy to fd full or 2 trays. The machine doesn't care if you only have 2 trays in it because the end result is the same

The best way to eat veggies and fruits is raw. Processing or cooking food removes vital minerals and nutrients. I would rather freeze them and use solar to run a freezer and can the rest. Dehydrators stor longer but at the price some times of nutritional value.
