Record sounds in real life. Then make it sound nice with EQ, Saturation, Reverb, Time-Scretching, and Pitch Automation.
Add an ambient sound in the tonic note of your scale to fill up space.
Quick volume automation can sound pretty cool. You can create a nice stutter effect, too.
Silence is an instrument. Silent parts in music contrast with the busy parts.
Add pitch slides to your leads or other melodies.
"Silence is an instrument" bro was cooking
Is mayonnaise an instrument?
@@officialconch Anything can be if you try
@@officialconch ur dumb if ue didnt know
@@officialconchput the noise in serum use the wave table post process the sound yessss
A wise man once said an artist respects the silence as it is the foundation of creativity
the pitch part sounded so good
Yeah that was super dope and made me realize I've heard that type of effect before and didn't know it could be a melody with some wild pitch automation
@@cody42693moonlight?
@@cody42693 i think moonlight by xxx uses that pitch thing, its a really cool technique it makes the beat sound unpredictable yet catchy
@@cody42693moonlight by xtentacion
I know right it reminds me of some prod wegonbeok beats
Silence is an instrument is so real. When you consider the “gap” instead of just the beat you make, it’s a whole new level
Yup same in djing
you gotta consider that already imo.
its called negative space iirc
Facts
do you know what application this is?
The editing work for this short video is insane. Very insightful thanks
You should watch Synthtet, he makes videos exactly like this, this shorts user is known for copying peoples stuff
check out synthet if you like this style
@@yoqqen thanks i will
Yes!
Insane.
THIS IS ACTUALLY FANTASTIC TIPS.

@sunwukong993 actually its "these are"
Actually-actually "those are" sounds better
(This is a joke, thank you for your attention)
Which software do u use?
Ambience is so so so important. As someone who likes to imagine what kind of picture the music is painting, ambience really helps to set the scene imo
What exactly is meant by ambience? Like, how do I add it?
@@Vnlly ambience is everything happening in the background, all the little stuff that makes a song more atmospheric. The little stuff that takes a good song and makes it a great song/beat. The first time I ever really noticed the ambience, the atmosphere in a song, was a song called Coming Down by The Weeknd. When I first heard that song, before any words were even said I was like wow, the song made me feel like the world was no longer in color, and I felt like at the bottom of a dark abyss. There’s this really weird droning sound, almost like static? that plays in the background throughout the entire song, and that along with the dark melody I think is what really made me feel like that. Another song that I think does ambience really well is After Hours by The Weeknd (I’m a huge fan of his work.) That song is a masterpiece through and through imo, the production quality is insane, and it’s very cinematic and atmospheric, like a lot of the other songs on that same album are. There’s a video on YT with the producer of the song, Illangelo, who also produced that song coming down (he produced a very large portion of The Weeknd’s music, he really helped create that signature dark rnb sound) breaking it down. What he said he does is just keep adding more and more stuff, because when you have so much going on you can start slowly taking things away. Might not work for you, but it might, the best advice is the advice that works yk. So yea ig as far as adding ambience to a song, ig just really picture what you want that song to make you feel. What kind of picture are you trying to paint? What kind of story are you trying to tell? I find a super useful method also for approaching song righting or beat making in general is to break down and recreate your favorite songs. See exactly what goes into crafting those amazing songs. Best of luck!

this is fl studio?? dam i need to download it now. I was procrastinating on it lmfo
@@rune4731 Yeah thats fl. looks easy but its actually hard, you will for sure need to do some tutorials man
Have you heard of synthet because they make the best fl studio videos i've ever seen.
synthet does this too, check him out!
wait... fl can make things like this? i thought it wasn't fl, like a another software or something
The way you kept the tempo throughout every single part of this short gave me goosebumps
I remember hearing that a good musician/producer can make music with the tools they are given, while a great one can hear music in just about anything. Like house hold objects or around you that isn't an instrument. I might off by a few words, but you get it.
Problem is someone will do this once and think they’re Rick Rubin. The trick is to use everything tastefully and when needed, not just for the sake of it because 99% of the time really you’re just trying feel like more of a ‘producer’
Nice pfp
@@autisticwolf3409that’s not true at all because we don’t really “need” to do anything we choose to do artistically, and “tasteful” is subjective. You’re just trying to be critical for the sake of it.
@@jank097You gotta be kidding
Love the sona! Haven't seen a color combo like that in my time in the fandom
No joke, this beat sounds like the type of beat you'd find on like a trap music channel that has millions of views by the time you hear it and it sticks in your head for weeks. Really good insights here.
silence is really good for music cause it adds both suspense and a resolution if done right
ive found two furries in this one comment section where are we all coming from?!

btw, I'd love to rap on this beat if you'd be willing to send a full version :)
That's incredible. How you also keep everything synchronized deserves praise on its own.
Damn I'm ngl this tutorial is mythical in itself, the BG music being the test subject drives your point further.
I want that beat in full, it's gorgeous.
im a sound production student and the amount of time this dude took to tell me this it wouldve taken my lecturer hours. Subscribed
Putting the pitch slice right on the beat was masterfully done. good one.
That’s one of the better shorts about tips and tricks for music production. Well done. Thank you 🎉
Holy shit this was so good, the last tip reminds me of tim hensons vocal chops in his older tracks
Cor this is good bro,, the way u use all the tips quickly around the samples in your epic song, genius way of showing your tips I love it,, you'll defo help a ton of producers with this,, think we'll all be up for a longer version also if u can manage it, no it'll be difficult though cause u said a ton in just a few seconds, be great to hear more from ya though, yeah supperb, thanks 😀
Please make a full video on how to add each effect for a total beginner
Nice! I hate when people tell you how to produce music (when you're not a beginner), but you show things that many people forget about, like a reminder of how much you can actually do. That's what I love to see!
Okay that's sick and as a very ameture producer, you have reached the right audience
these are actually something i already knew but never bothered with, and i just got refreshed with it JUST when i was abt to make music, fire
“silence is an instrument” is a similar concept in guitar as well. when you are improvising notes, leaving space between notes can leave the notes being more meaningful than sheer nonstop speed
The fact that all the tips are on beat is so nice to hear
This is pure gold!! Everything was informative and actually comprehensive
Just want to say the amount of useful info in your videos is crazy please don't stop making videos you earned a sub!
Yo this beat is clean asf!! You got a full version?
This video was so dope - the beat is hard, the editing is perfect - even your voice is nice
I watched it 25 times straight... So good. this might be my first comment in 15 years. Everything about this short is perfect.
The pitch slides were beautiful
All true. I’ve been making music for 7 years and I skipped over these because they were “too simple.” But they’ve helped more than anything complex
Good production is about doing a lot of simple things well
this Short is my new favorite song
That pitch slide at the end is crazy though
Solid video bro. Edits on fire. The way you used the beat as a baseline for all examples was really nice. The timing perfect❤
The 808 kick was recorded by accident due to an intern dropping papers into a trash bin. The intern thought they were going to get fired, but the audio techs just said "hold on, do that again? I wasn't recording."
Un condensé essentiel du beatmaking ! L’abus de ces tips est hautement recommandé !
Super quality content bro, keep going, pls!
I always knew silence was a fun tool but I’d never thought about treated is as the equivalent of any other instrument! Thank you!
The skills on this tiny video are insane
I like the beat you have playing in the background. What's the name of your beat??
mInd blowing man !!!! Love This !!!!
As an electronic producer, I've noticed its the case that a lot of beatmaker tutorials are so riddled with misinfomation(even worse than electronic producing tutorials). But to see someone actually give great producing info in this area is so refreshing. Props to you Jamjoo!
this video is a ripoff of synthet

One of the most professional shorts I have seen on UA-cam. 🎉
Moonlight type beat
If you are the one doing these video edits too then you are far more than just musically talented. These edits go just as hard as anything else you do
This is the type of content we need for learning how to make beats. Can you tell us how you get past a beat block?
beat block doesn't exist
What could be happening is that your musical circle must be small, or you are only looking at one path
What I can say is try to cook up in different genres - for example if you only make trap or rage beats, you're going to be out of ideas in a blink of an eye. Also vary the way you create melodies - if you only draw chords in the piano roll and add top lines, you're going to be out of melos faster than the speed of sound.
Try doing something not related to music. Seriously. The total opposite. Get out, go on a walk, go do something with friends, etc. Inspiration can hit when you don't expect it.
that volume automation part really helped me with my own song
What program are you using
He's using FL studio
@@enderfrogg thank you
The fact that the beat is on perfect loop for all these effects, great editinf
Silence is an instrument is a deep statement in and out of music production. Oi KAROL! :D
Grim Salvo makes fire beats using lots of tricks like these
The background noises of things like flies buzzing, doors or floorboards creaking, or various talking/humming on some tracks add HUGE depth
The way they use silence to emphasize certain bars and the unorthodox ways they edit sounds all sounds fantastic imo
bro is not synthet
bro aint need to be synthet to provide value too :)
imagine sounding generic and bland asl
That last tip tickled my brain it was sooo fire
Give us this beat full version
Excellent tips. I write orchestral music so a different world, but I appreciate so much artistry and vision of production like this!
mf think he synthet 😂
The way my brain filled in the ambience when it wasn't there just shows how much it changes
This is easily the most satisfying tutorial
I absolutely love when silence is used in music, especially if its quick and its the beat that just stops during casual rap part
god i love using silence. i usually make the last quarter note of the bar (if i’m working on 4/4) silence before a drop and it hits SOOOO GOOD
good tips homie 👌🏼
Great clip bro, solid knowledge. I'll throw out a tip I'm fond of just in case it can help anyone: (Open your Calculator & put in "60000 divided by the BPM of your track, the number that you get as an answer = the millisecond value of a 1/4 note." x2 the answer to get the "ms" value for an 1/8th note, x2 again and you'll get ms value of 1/16th note, then again for 32nd, 64th etc. - if you divide the original the answer instead, it'll show ms value for 1/2 note, then whole note, etc.) very useful for non-synced ADSR time adjustments on everything or non-synced modulation movement on stuff. Cheers sound fam.
I cant believe I just learned a bunch of major tricks in just under one minute slayyy
Never seen a short make me so much want to subscribe than this one. Great style and technique
love the production value of this tutorial clip itself
As a rapper, and not a producer, a huge thing I see a lot of entry level producers struggling with is the understanding that a person is going to be putting vocals on their beat. It has to have structure and ups and downs. If it’s just the same loop repetitively with maybe an instrument added here or removed there, it’s not going to make a song.
My brother, who is a great composer says “a good song first asks a question, and then it answers it.”
Make sure your beat has answers and questions (build up and resolution) not just one or the other.
Im subbing fo sho, the way this video was edited is on a whole other level.
Definitely the best short I've seen highlighting great tips. Next video should be 10 ways to utilize sidechaining
On ambiance and silence, I had a music teacher who understood this important relationship and used it to such great effect that he has ended up bringing our school multiple wins at various symphonic band competitions. How the silence in a band sounds can make or break your performance
This by itself is a masterpiece 😮
That beat is supper slick.
I still think FL flows soo much better for my musicians brain, rather than Ableton, which works great for my DJ homies. This video is a great demo. 👍
I learned more in this 30sec video than I have in 2yrs😭
Pitch slides are sick. Bouncy unpredictably melodic beats
This is the dopest thing i have seen in a while.
The first effect is a bangerrr !! 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
