Silencing someone like RMS is counterproductive and disarms society - it makes it harder to continually maintain defenses against certain activities which are undesirable.

I like SsourceHut and their philosophy behind it (purely in terms of SW design and architecture), I like both the legacy and the philosophical consistency of RMS (again, just on the topic of Free Software). Look, I don't have a strong position here. I like SsourceHut and their philosophy behind it (purely in terms of SW design and architecture), I like both the legacy and the philosophical consistency of RMS (again, just on the topic of Free Software). I do find RMS's positions on things like sexual assault, well, clumsy at best. And yes, RMS probably does have a nice room in the apartment of Drew DeVault's head.
I do find it that in order to survive in this world we do have to be able to separate the art from the artist. Sure, I have enjoyed John Lennon's songs less once I learned about him being violent to his girlfriend(s) but it's possible to remain objective that he was a great artist. (A whole another question is that how much does it matter in light of the other things?)
It's ironic that you said you're not going to use Hare precisely because of the politics of Drew DeVault.

If you head over to the farms they have a lot of history on Devault, this letter is very hypocritical considering the type of disgusting imagery he has shared in the past (drawn, but still horrendous)
It's definitely fair to say Drew has a strong political stance, but the people he attacks are not without fault.
Drew's biggest failing might be him writing his opinion on everything happening in the (F)OSS ecosystem.
It is surprising how well open source works, considering how many people (especially the highly public ones) are either extremely right or left.
