#1 rule to remember when you feel a horse want to buck, keep him bent. Bend his nose in and make him do figure eights, circles, stops, backups. Anything other than letting him walk off in a straight line. When you feel his back relax let him walk straight out a few feet then bend his nose in again. Eventually he will get bored of this exercise and the bucking problem will be gone.
Just based on watching the video. Don’t know these two. Clearly they showed how not to do it. If you need to creep up on the critter to put the saddle on him, that should be your first indication that is probably not a good idea to get on him. How about a few on and offs with the saddle for starts until he stands still followed by a little ground work. Next if he won’t stand still while your trying to mount, how about taking it slow by using a mounting block, just laying across his back, putting a foot in and out of the stirrup and gradually working up to putting your weight in it. After you do manage to get a seat, how about dismounting before trying to get him to walk off? Before walking off, how about some lateral flections both left and right? I could go on and on with what you both did wrong. Clearly you two do not know what you are doing and shouldn’t be near a green horse.
You need some ground work before you get on and this would never happen. This is the old school western cowboy of breaking the horse, new techniques of more ground work are safer for everyone.
The first person who got on the horse in this video, I assume it was Fred is just plan stupid. You never, never ride a horse, broke or unbroken with lace up work boots. If your foot gets hung in the stirrup you boot won't come off. My husband learned the hard way. He just got home from work neighbor called we had a bull out. He grabbed a horse, didn't change out of his work boots n headed to neighbors. Called his father to meet him there. He went after bull on the horse. Bull turned, horse turned n fell throwing my husband off. Horse got up with my husbands foot in stirrup. You can guess the rest. Husband lived.
you don't just jump on a horse if it hasn't been ridden in 8 years and you don't know how he or she will react. you first do groundwork with it. now you only gave him a bad experience with being ridden...
I see a horse who is saying "I don't want my vacation to be over." But he also messes up mounting the first time...he slams his knee into the horse's rump, and that's why it bucked. Later, the horse is just balking and reluctant. Which is not surprising because he is HUGELY out of shape. I've seen worse. The first guy actually does better than the second - the second is really pushing it for a horse in this situation.
Oh, absolutely. I worked with one who's vacation had been two years and we had to do a LOT of groundwork, and she still tried to kill me the first time I put a saddle on her. Now she's absolutely awesome and learning to jump.
that what "cowboy" gets. He had his feet all the way in the stirrups, he's lucky he didn't get drug and stomped. He was being too cocky and was being nothing but a jerk to that horse. Now she's gonna be even worse next time someone rides her because she's gonna think they're just gonna treat her like that.
a lot of respect for fred , he aint no puss , theres a lot of guys outhere a lot of hunters that wont get on a horse...period , nevermind te fact that he hasnt been rode in 8 years , ( if i heard right) and the younger guy got bucked of in my opinion because the stirups were a bit to long for him and sometimes you just get bucked off, it happens to the best , great looking horse its nice to see it put to good use , theres a lot of youtube experts on here that criticize everything if it isnt done theyre way , ( most of you wouldnt even attempt getting on this horse anyways )
Hey guys, take yr time. It has to learn to carry accept the saddle before y get on. Hope y weren't hurt. Don't be cowboys like old days. Horse will learn how to dump y off. Be careful.
Nice cut of a horse. The second guy who came off the horse doesn't know how to counter a buck. He should have shortened the stirrup straps for starters. Should have had a breast plate and a tail strap on the horse to more fully secure the saddle in place. Don't let the horse drop its head down to the ground because thats when it bucks its best. Keep its head up. That horse isn't too bad a horse just the riders need a bit of sharpening up to fully control the horse.
im saying my opinion so shut up and deal with ive been training horses since I was 9 I know what im talking about. and by him looking nervous and looking tense he probley felt that way that could have played a role in the horse bucking him off. Its my opinion so you can say what you want im sticking by it.
Reading these comments, let me inform you. Only a cowboy can laugh at a cowboy...and that's only if he laughs at him self first. Not bad you got the job done guys.
Shit...what happened cowboy!? You had the hat and your heels in his ribs, how could you of fallen off!!! Oh thats right because both of y'all seemed to just try and "macho" this horse into submission! Im kinda glad you asses hit the dirt!!
@@a.r.windsong9167 May I ask the lesson that was meant to be taught by both the horse and riders...and ask again what do you think was actually learned?
We just ol' Miss'sippi cowboys but the first thing we would do if we knew a horse was gonna buck is shorten your stirrups so you can push back and not get bucked off over the horse's head like that "cowboy" did. Going out that way can get you stomped on an hurt bad, hoss.
Never ever let go of the reins if there 2 separate reins tie them on the saddle head if there the loop kind put them also on the saddle head cause if u dont you are screwed if the horse gets its head between its legs! (Sorry for my grammar, english skills
I mean you're not light, and 8 years of out of shape back muscles? and you made him deal with you getting on 3 times at least? AND then you ask him to work for you too? Ouch. I'd buck you off lol
um......okay, I don't think this was really helpful to the horse but I don't know anything. Maybe next time you all can do this thing where you tell the horse to respect you (better) more tactfully. Its rumored that it helps cure bucking or the thing that horses do when they two back feet can reach to a mans head.
15jayh wrong you do ground work to bond and teach them what you want first. Then if you have done it properly you can get on with them standing quietly without messing with head.

Honestly this horse didn't seem to be too bad. He just needed a big refresher hes a beautiful horse.
I agree just little crow hops is what I saw
The muscle on that thing!!!! Beautiful horse!
He didn't get bucked off, he fell off. I have a horse that can teach him the difference...
Ain’t that the truth
This is a nice horse but theses guys are like , " Dumb and Dumber " ! That's entertainment !

That was pretty good guys.
He's alright , your alright.
He started to remember so its all good.
Good looking saddle horse.

Jennifer R. Povey true, but i just dont think you should mount it without doing at least some groundwork first
Oh, absolutely. I worked with one who's vacation had been two years and we had to do a LOT of groundwork, and she still tried to kill me the first time I put a saddle on her. Now she's absolutely awesome and learning to jump.
SaphiraTessa exactly. These people aren't (trainers). They're bronc riders.
I think it went fairly well..most horses dont give 2 cents on ground work..they just dont want you back on them
When a horse starts to buck, turn him in circles. A horse can't buck going in tight circles.
Letting Fred work with your horse! He's a wanna a bee if there ever was one. He don't know the first thing about training a horse.
that what "cowboy" gets. He had his feet all the way in the stirrups, he's lucky he didn't get drug and stomped. He was being too cocky and was being nothing but a jerk to that horse. Arthur Borrego you shouldn't need stirrups to stay on you hold with your legs. Yes I am a trainer and work with dangerous horse.
Yeah. And the soundtrack goes along with it. 🤣🤣... Cowboy up! Fellurs.
That is a very nicely put together horse .
can I use this for a failvideo? I will credit you 😄 thankss 😜
Fred, I wouldn't say that was a ( buck off ). More like a sliiiiiiiddddddeeeee-off!

the "cowboy" looked like he was trying to make the horse buck. desensitizing is one thing.. that was not what that was..
I think that horse was having a little fun with those fellas.
No it wasn't.
the first guy looked nervous and tense horses can feel that. THATS MY OPINION:)
has nothing to do with the guy, that horse has had no groundwork done..you don't just jump on after 8 years of stagnancy...
im saying my opinion so shut up and deal with ive been training horses since I was 9 I know what im talking about. and by him looking nervous and looking tense he probley felt that way that could have played a role in the horse bucking him off. +Cidney Williams training horses since you were 9? lol

Lesson in what not to do with a horse.
Did anybody else notice him putting his foot in the stirrup backwards when he was mounting😂
Owch, being bucked off the second time, what a fall, that's GONNA leave a mark!!!!🤯😵😱
Shit...what happened cowboy!? You had the hat and your heels in his ribs, how could you of fallen off!!! Oh thats right because both of y'all seemed to just try and "macho" this horse into submission! Im kinda glad you asses hit the dirt!!
Just because you loose the ride don't mean you loose the lesson.
These guys are alright.
@@a.r.windsong9167 May I ask the lesson that was meant to be taught by both the horse and riders...and ask again what do you think was actually learned?
Why aren't those guys wearing a helmet Ellen
Good video on how to ruin a good horse.
That horse is fine
good looking horse ! Very lucky to have walked away without any serious injuries :) Did you end up buying him ? :)

Looks like a sore backed horse. She may need to stay working to keep her back from stiffening.
All looks well in the end.
I mean you're not light, and 8 years of out of shape back muscles? and you made him deal with you getting on 3 times at least? AND then you ask him to work for you too? Ouch. I'd buck you off lol

He reaches across his body with reigns clearly don't know how to ride
"I'll let the cowboy get on him now" 🤣🤣🤣🤣
That horse didn’t even buck hard either😂
Hey cowboy....your ways are outdated as well as predated to the Greeks eons ago who had relationship in mind. It’s all about the relationship
Hahaha...the real question, can you make a good sammich?
Nice solid horse.
No ground work dune to the horse not good for the horse
Baby steps are needed
Hey friend. U don't kick the horse to go, u need to use one side of split reins spank the horse butt to go forward.
You don’t hit a horse To go forward you squeeze them
Thought I add some advice...but it seems there's all ready plenty of bad ...hang in there Fred.
that saddle blanket is to thin
Que perigo essas selas americanas! Se o cara se bate pode se castrar, e se o cavalo se boleia é morte certa!
I love all these expert trainers commenting on here, the funny thing is ain't nobody ever heard of any of you!
Oh Boy.... so many Faults ...
Please go to a Horsetrainer and let teach you how to handle a Horse.
That's what he gets for kicking horse in ribs
Total ignorant rookies. I can hear Rick Gore laughing now!
U never ever get on a colt without pulling his head around.
15jayh wrong you do ground work to bond and teach them what you want first. Then if you have done it properly you can get on with them standing quietly without messing with head.
what did i just watch lol
Neither one of them knows what they are doing
Cowboy did not need to kick him with the Spurs he got thrown off and that was a funny thing he deserved getting thrown off
At first i thought he had spurs on but he didnt
Don’t believe he was wearing any spurs.
Quality entertainment
Ever heard of, “Fat and sassy”?
Bien!!
Good looking horse but the riders? Nah.
That horse needs some ground work
All the folks saying ground work is bullshit. Just need long miles and soft hands. Ain't no trick's when it comes to horses
Riding a lot
This is why farmers shouldn't own horses...
Wtf.... why did you leave the halter on? Shit riders AND riding.
Smh
helmet your not a cowboy
