I came here because my BeachBody workout routine has a day of yoga, and they are doing this pose. They have a modifier person when you can't do the pose, but y'all give an in-depth explanation so I can actually work toward doing the move without modification. Thank y'all. ❤ 🧘♀️
Thank you for bringing great clarity to these poses

Great tutorial and the tip to squeeze the thighs together is magic!
Happy to hear it was helpful for you and yes it really is magic! :)
Really helpful.Thank you both!
Do you have any tuturial on how to do Buddha Padmasana? After many years of practise I still have problems to reach the big toes with my hands. 🤔
Hi Helena, Thanks so much for the feedback. Happy to hear this was helpful. We don't have a tutorial yet for it on here, but will add one soon :)
If I have chronic wrist issues, where I can't really put them at a 90゚ angle does it mean this pose will be impossible to achieve?
Hello David and Jelena. At 2:58 you mentioned "turning your hands out", which I now interpret as external rotation of the arms. However, at 3:10, you mentioned "spin your arms in". I noticed how Jelena's elbow rotated outwards. I must have misunderstood some things here. Could you please help me to understand this? Thank you!
There is actually a Hasta Bandha and a Padua Bandha
Nemesis asana for me….David Garrigues says in his tutorial video on this that really the knees should be on the outside of the arm though and you should be squeezing inner thighs into arms….confused..! He says knees in armpit is a mini cheat..moot point for me as I can’t seem to do either without collapsing into it 😩
We can only teach what we've learned, which in this case would be knees to armpits in bakasana. We'd suggest whichever position you put your knees to your arms that you focus on the hand position (as shown in this video) and puffing through your upper back which will help you to not collapse as much. :)
Keep in mind--the feet lift when you go sufficiently forward --both looking and leaning--don't look down but forward --you can also get into the posture with your toes touching the ground and practice alternating lifting up one lower leg at a a time.
This was useful but could still not do it yet
Why do I feel like my wrists can’t handle the weight shift?
What if you lack the flexibility to touch the floor like the instructor?
I couldn't do this 😢 I tried so many times but only got bruises on both my arms☹️
Bakasa is crane pose which is what you show, kakasana is crow, with bent elbows 😢 the sanskrit is pretty literal here.
For those who said I'm not impartial 🖕
Can you come up with a modified one for a beginner
