Great review! It looks like the Taurus TX22 Competition performs well with standard muzzle velocity (between 1082 to 1200) 40-grain ammo. Have you noticed any specific ammo brands or types that work best with this firearm for optimal performance?
Thanks for checking it out! So far it functions the best with Norma Tac-22 and even the Aguila Super Extra 40gr. Both of those loads shoot accurately and reliably. I honestly need to test more loads but so far those two have been really good
Great video. As for the slide not locking after the last round fired, are you riding the slide lock lever with your thumb? I'm in the habit of doing so and rarely have an issue with slide lock except with .22 semi-autos.
Thanks for watching! I tried one handed making sure my thumb wasn’t in the way and also shot with both hands consciously keeping my thumb out of the way, and it still did it. I’m not sure what it is yet. More than likely there’s a tolerance stacking issue where the mag followers might be slightly out of spec in relation to the slide catch. I still have to play around with jt
I own this gun. Have about 2,500 rounds thru it. I only shoot CCI MiniMags 40 GR. No malfunctions. TandemKross spring and trigger. Holosun 507C. It has been great. MiniMags are consistent and generate good pressures.
11:32 That ammo weave pattern might have a little to do with the reliability issue. I think TXs really prefer it if the rounds alternate which side they're angled. You can reliably do it by loading a round then letting the follower rise all the way up. Bit annoying that you have to keep it in mind, but pretty easy to get in the habit of doing.
Two of my three mags were jam-o-matics with my TX22 competition. Taurus sent me a replacement mag that has been 100% fine. Totally agree the mags are the biggest failure point it seems
Thanks for watching! I would say that either the Sig P322 or the Taurus TX22 performs the same if you are using good ammunition that the gun likes. If you want better quality control from the manufacturer, I would probably say Taurus wins this comparison!
Says who? 9 times out of 10 drop testing goes into R&D at a manufacturer. In competitions where this would be utilized you’re going to drop your magazines while moving between targets and stages. That’s the way it goes in IDPA and USPSA. Besides these magazines issues were present right at initial testing before the mags were subjected to dropping.. like every other magazine was designed to do

Good to hear. Never heard of the spring and trigger. I’ll have to check that out, thanks!
I have this same weapon and I also use the same ammo as you do and I love this piece of equipment. Also the same green dot. No hang ups. Love it!
Ive had great results with accuracy and reliability using Federal Auto Match
Awesome, thanks for the heads up. I’ll have to give that a try!
Great video

Fascinating. I’m probably gonna try this tomorrow. Thanks!
@@SabertoothDefenseSystems after a range day with Armscor SV and Aguila HV with no malfs, it might have merit

Good to know it’s not my experience alone. Maybe I’ll reach out to Taurus regarding new mags! Thanks!

Some guy's use car wax on the magazine assist sliders , if dirt gets inside the followers can hang up causing feed problems.
Interesting I’ve never heard of that
Also the mags are not made to be dropped. This is a target pistol not a combat pistol.

You don’t have to clean these guns basically ever
Try it without the Red Dot.
Definitely will over time
Wel, wel, wel... a Taurus being a Taurus... good idea not so good build.
Yeah just kind of how it goes with 22 pistols!
You’re not very knowledgeable, but enjoy the nice case you have about all you know about
Lol I bet that made you feel good😘
