I sat down for 2 hours reading/watching about p-value thinking how this is so counter intuitive...then I watched your video...EVERYTHING MAKES SENSE! You're my hero (and Fido)!!
Albert Einstein had it right: “Education is not the learning of facts, but the training of the mind to think.” And this series prove it. Keep it on. I would like to learn how to think.
I have no formal education but that's only because the Grateful Dead used to tour. Now that they're long retired I have a bit more free time to flail about in many advanced fields. What I've discovered is there are certain teachers that can make the most fascinating, mind blowing subjects as engaging as watching paint dry. Then there are teachers that can take a subject that, at first glance, has the appeal of eating mouthfuls of dirt, but after a few moments you realize you're gripped with increasing excitement. You are the latter. I know I'm late to your channel and blog, but I hope you continue on. You are very helpful, illuminating and funny! You had me at puppies but I lost it at "8 year old are evil." Who woulda thunk statistics could be so fun? THANK YOU.
Thank you :-) You're always a true inspiration. It's clear you're new on YT, but please, keep going and polish the videos you're providing. Your previous articles were amazing. Please translate them into video lectures and build your brand here as true decision scientist. This is gonna be a revolution! :-)
Hi Cassie, greetings from Dominican Republic. Great video, a lot of people struggle to understand some stats concepts, but then someone like you show us the light at the end of the road. We really appreciate your effort. Ah and the next time we run out of cookies, i´m going to applied p-value, but guess what? P-Value=my 4 year son. see you...
Wow !! What an simple way to make even a newbie understand what's p value ! And the way you've described, it also allows the educated audience to infer that the magic lies in constructing the null hypothesis world !! Thanks for the video ..
Brilliant explanation. I wish I could tell you in words as to how confused I was about this till I found your video. Really liked your example.. thank you so much :)
Very enjoyable indeed. To be very honest I have to ask how improbable is improbable enough? We happen to say 'less than 1 in 20', but there are all sorts of reasons why that is a bad idea. Would we be happy with an incredibly invasive, painful, expensive treatment for a trivial illness that worked 19 times out of 20? Would we reject a cheap, painless, easy treatment for advance cancer that only worked 18 times out of 20? That's the great flaw with p values and the great strength of estimation (AKA confidence intervals). Oddly, a great many medical journals still use p values as the primary approach to testing.
I have started a course in Data Analysis and p-values are, of course, involved. And the past week I struggled to fully comprehend p-values and the entire analysis thereof, but your explanation has helped a great deal. Thank you so much!
... constructed as to what was learned from putting to use statistic(s) testing of a sufficient sample wrought from the whole of that world, as held out to exist, arbeit while not necessarily having been in a reasonable position to access and assess the whole of all possible words of all sizes beforehand. :)
Loved everything abt the video except your boss trying to throw ads before I can actually watch it! Seriously - if someone’s willing to watch a video on p-value spate them the ads! Can’t believe you have an 8 year old either-well done!
Wow! You think you were taught p-value badly. I was just told a formula to calculate it and compare it to 0.05 for some reason to accept or reject the null hypothesis. I am glad I don't do stats for a living. However, it would be worth wondering that with the base knowledge that I got, could I ever be a statistician in my life!? I think my course's name should have been "How to pass the stats course but fail life 101"
Okay, you said the p-value is a probability that the result is that ridiculous in a world where the dog didn't do that. But I hear statisticians tell me all the freaking time that the p-value is NOT a probability. So what am I getting wrong here? There are so many conflicting statements about that goddamn p-value I don't know where to start. I just see it as a tool to distinguish the signal from the noise with some sort of confidence, not more, not less.
My dog - Doesn't eat the food Me - Make null hypothesis - He doesn't like it, I analyze data and p value is so large , Now, I form an Alternate hypothesis - The food doesn't like him, P value comes small , I changed my dog 🥲
Chicken or egg problem / Dealer's choice I reckon, oh yes I do, because, duh, duh, duh -- If you understand the purpose and use of null hypotheses before attempting to convey p-values vis-à-vis to them, _and_ have some basic understanding of probabilities then it seems to me you're well on your way to estimating something somehow.
OK, it's like when the doctor told me I had been diagnosed as a total paranoiac... OK, OK, OK... so, that does not mean someone is not following me and trying to kill me... Conclusion, Fido is innocent. PS, I love your presentation
p(D|H0). This is p-value :) There is nothing mysterious about it . It's just that it doesn't fit into the definition of frequentist probability, so they dont call it "probability".
Well it's said that if you want to know how well you know a particular topic. Just try to explain to a 5 yrs old kid, if he understands it well, you know the topic well. And i must tell you, you know what p- value is???? ❤

Oh, it's a puppy value. Got it now
4 years of math degree and i've never heard a better explanation. thanks
This is fantastic, please continue this series.
Also, I have an 8 year old and you are correct, the entropy increases dramatically.
i think many people wont realize actually how brilliant u explained ... thank u
you're right. I still don't understand
Albert Einstein had it right: “Education is not the learning of facts, but the training of the mind to think.” And this series prove it. Keep it on. I would like to learn how to think.
NERD!!!
@@kartikkalia01 You are goddamn right

Simply incredible.
I can't find words to express how I am grateful for this explanation!
So clearly explained. Never fully understood the explanation even in "reputed" books. Thanks!
Wow !! What an simple way to make even a newbie understand what's p value ! And the way you've described, it also allows the educated audience to infer that the magic lies in constructing the null hypothesis world !! Thanks for the video ..
OOOHHH MY GOOODDD..... I have been trying to understand p-values for such a long time but I was not able to!! THIS IS A BRILLIANT EXPLANATION
I will never forget this concept now! You made it so easy Thank you ❤
OMG! You simplified the explanation of a p-value beautifully. I love the puppy example, metaphors help. Thank you so much 👃
One of the best 3min vid I have ever seen.
Great video! Your tone, and cadence and voice is a nice change of pace to listen too as well!
Thanks Cassie......i was struggling with the p-value......it just turned out that I had not thought of it in the right way
Very well explained, thanks a lot
Would love to see more content on statistics basics
Most amazing p-value explanation ever!
Wow! Explained this way it gets soooo easy to understand. Brilliant video!
Low pvals means low entropy, low surprise, ordered and expected distribution of reality?
Finally made sense after watching 5-6 videos... thanks so much Fido!
Bravo Cassie, I like your style of narration :-)
This is real intelligence, defining complicated concepts in an easy manner.
Brilliant explanation. I wish I could tell you in words as to how confused I was about this till I found your video. Really liked your example.. thank you so much :)

Thats the most brilliant and closer explaination found on youtube till now...... 👌👌👌👌👍👍👍👍🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹
I adore your explanations! Period.
Amazing explanation! Thanks for sharing it! You made my world better!
I have started a course in Data Analysis and p-values are, of course, involved. And the past week I struggled to fully comprehend p-values and the entire analysis thereof, but your explanation has helped a great deal. Thank you so much!
holy sh this is the best video i've watched im taking ap psych and i had no clue what this meant. thank yo uso much
Wow..that's the simplest way to teach p-value. thank you
This was such a good explanation. Thank you!
... constructed as to what was learned from putting to use statistic(s) testing of a sufficient sample wrought from the whole of that world, as held out to exist, arbeit while not necessarily having been in a reasonable position to access and assess the whole of all possible words of all sizes beforehand. :)
Everything in this video is just beautiful.
Amazing!
Couldn’t wrap my head around the puppy concept. However, it included puppies, so it’s a win for me.
Very neat explanation!
Loved everything abt the video except your boss trying to throw ads before I can actually watch it! Seriously - if someone’s willing to watch a video on p-value spate them the ads! Can’t believe you have an 8 year old either-well done!
I love your explanations. they are brilliant.
Thank you for explaining it so easily!
the explanation that i was looking for, thanks!
I didn't fully understand it yet, but she has a reaaaaally good voice and sense of humor and yea I can hear her voice all night long
Really good explanation, thank you!
Damn now I have to calculate p-value every time when my dog messed up my room. Gr8 explanation loved it.
You can't never know for sure
Very good explanation and lovely accent
I love your explanation!
Thank you for these ! please keep them coming
beautiful explaination
Someone's starting a vlog ;) Thanks, Cassie!
Are you serious??? I just spent so much time trying to understand what the heck the p-value was. You broke it down so easily.
Great explanation, thank you!
Completely amazed about you! Very great work!
Rarely leave a positive comment, but it was a very nice video! Thumbs up for you and (not) innocent Fido.
Thank you so much! Great for my students.
Very clever explanation.
I'm years late to this but wow, this was helpful.
Thank you for saving my brain cells that were about to be destroyed by watching several other videos on p-values 〒▽〒
Wow. Some inspiration there. Good Job!
thank you
Thank you. You're great!
Awesome video! Love your explanation. I didn’t know stats could be funny :D
I just loved this video! thanks a lot for sharing x
best explanation ever!
Great video!

It's amazing!!! I loved!
Super I have done something similar to it to explain students. BRAVO Cassie!
I have not known your classes before, so it will be very useful for me.
Thanks for this.
Thank you so much for the wonderful explanation! Please keep sharing :)
Thank you very much! Now, I understand it!
I love you... Finally I understand p value
You mate just earned your self a sub!
i love your videos!!! Thank you
the puppies did help! thanks!
Thank you very much! I suppose I've finally got it.
Simple and got it thanks in advance
Thanks ❤
dunno why but her voice is kinda mesmerizing

Great!
Excellent
Great 👍
My dog - Doesn't eat the food
Me - Make null hypothesis - He doesn't like it,
I analyze data and p value is so large , Now,
I form an Alternate hypothesis - The food doesn't like him,
P value comes small ,
I changed my dog 🥲
That's a great contribution, I will steal it (with a reference 0:)).

But, also, no, I'm swilling down my third cup of coffee today. Sleepy would not be the word for it. Assertion denied. 🤪
Thanks
спасибо!
This is how we learn...through story.
The p-value of a dog alone in the house for a long while is probably quite high.
OK, it's like when the doctor told me I had been diagnosed as a total paranoiac... OK, OK, OK... so, that does not mean someone is not following me and trying to kill me... Conclusion, Fido is innocent. PS, I love your presentation

You have a beautiful mind
Hi i am your neighbor, i dont even know why i did it. I hope one day Fido forgives me :,(
THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thanks for the effort. The null still makes no sense to me. At all.
Well it's said that if you want to know how well you know a particular topic.
