Just wonderful Matthew, you talk about your passion in the way you write about it, so very interesting, so it appeals to all. You are simply unique and your books are too! Thank you

Another very interesting and informative video. When I used to work for the National Trust we used to put out moth taps.

1:53 - The moth is a Black Arches Lymantria monacha (Lymantriidae), not a Dark Arches which is a Noctuid.
The two moths are related by common-name only.

Fantastic insight, I'm beginner, but, I must point something out despite being a novice to Lepidopterons. The moth you describe as Dark Arches is surely Black Arches Lymantra Monacha?

You are correct - our mistake, it should be a Black Arches

You're welcome, I've made a lot of id mistakes on my stuff. I'm new to moths and butterflies.I use books and UKmoths to identify and put my pics up on Flickr I'm not sure I've got the specimens right. I find identification isn't always black and white, or perhaps I should say argent and sable!

01:53 is the Black Arches moth (Lymantria monacha) not the Dark Arches (A. monoglypha) which is an unrelated species.

So i'm sitting watching the darts, when something starts flying round the lamp.Turns out to be a Brown Admiral.
    Thing is,it's 11.55 pm,on the 28th of October,and it's freezing outside,but nice and warm indoors.What am i to do?
