- Discover some of the butterflies of the UK in this short documentary style video. Join me as I take a walk around Norfolk's largest ancient woodland, foxley wood, and find species such as the silver washed fritillary and white admiral butterfly. I also find common species of butterfly including comma butterfly, red admiral, gatekeeper, speckled wood and meadow brown.
If you would like to find out more about foxley wood, you can do so here: www.norfolkwil...

Stunning footage. I've an amature photographer and I do enjoy snapping away on wildlife. Butterflies don't taste their foods by their tongue they taste by their feet.
There's me thinking that looks like a Ringlet and then you tell me its a Speckled Wood. Completely new to me as to I do not get to see this Butterfly so far North. Always learn something new from you. Thanks.
Really enjoyed your film. It’s hard enough even photographing them. I notice a decline in the numbers here in Scotland. No red admirals where I live now as compared to 2023
I have tons of buddlia that grows in my garden so it attracts tons of butterflies. Normally I see red admirals or peacock butterflies
What a fantastic video Liam and easy to listen to
Thank you Janice :) I cant wait until it gets a bit warmer and insects start to make an appearance again!
Yet another brilliant video Liam, excellent and informative, thanks again for taking the time to educate us
Thanks Michael. I will be making a trip back to Foxley this spring so stay tuned for that :)
Great. I enjoyed those butterflies. Thank you
Thank you!
@@AShotOfWildlife bought the book now. It’s fab. My Butterfly knowledge and my enjoyment of Butterflies is increasing exponentially simply because I watched your vid. Thank you.
@@jimbojet8728 Brilliant! I'm glad to have been of assistance!
When you go to Foxley the first turn from the car park is a left and it threw me, because I was concentrating on the environment and not my spatial awareness. The natural route is to turn clockwise from then on and the natural instinct is to try to get back to the car park using that rotational direction. I got lost too.
My best memory of my last visit was when I went off piste accidently and had to push my way through bracken and other vegetation. The butterflies murmurated into the air like a Hollywood fantasy, making me stop from time to time. Foxley wood must be one of the best butterfly sites in the UK.
Peacock ,tortoiseshell and red admiral my faves
Butterflies are nice insects.
I understand you are lost and your phone was dead.
Fortunately you found the car!
A beautiful film made about the butterflies, you saw a lot!
Thanks for sharing
Warm greetings Jacq
Great variety 👀👌👍
Enjoyed it, looks like a lovely spot
Comma, my favourite butterfly!
Although I love moths too, possibly more than butterflies.
Beautiful photography mate!
Thank you!
Nice video 👍🙋😘
Beautiful butterflies and great film Liam! Although hard to film I think you have managed very well. Thanks for sharing.
I'm now trying to make something out of footage I managed to capture with the iPhone the other day of some Banded demoiselles flying around down by the river.
Have a great weekend! // Bertil.
Excellent video. Thank you.
Awesome footage, enjoyed watching, Thanks for your sharing!
Great little educational film - thanks everso for sharing. 😀 Enjoyed that and learnt lots.
Brilliant! I'm glad it was useful and hope you know where to come for other british wildlife videos :)
This was so helpful as I have currently taken in an injured butterfly this helped me so I knew exactly what to feed it! Thank yoy
That was a lovely selection of butterflies! I've yet to see a fritillary of any variety and I've not seen a White Admiral since that one we saw last year at Hickling.
a very nice video ...thanks very much.
Thank you for this beautiful and interesting video.
An excellent selection of Butterflies there Liam. You scored well! Shame about getting lost! Glad you found your way back OK. You should get yourself a little battery back-up pack for your phone though! 👍😎👍

Great! I can’t wait for the summer to do more videos like tgis
We have a lovely nature reserve Martin Down Wilts / Dorset UK near me which produced a similar display to yours the other day, another informative and pleasant video thanks for sharing 👍
Fantastic video, thank you. There's an area on Mousehold, called Hairsteak hollow, named after the butterflies, which apparently can be seen there.
Just found this awesome channel. Subbed
Great video x
This was an interesting and relaxing video to watch :)
nice vid , many thanks.
Thanks! I’m glad you liked it!
Nice video Liam, love Foxley Woods, I was lucky enough to photo the Purple Emperor on my last visit but couldn't get the Purple Hairstreak! A great site on my doorstep!
Wow! There were a lot of people there when I visited looking for the PE but I don’t think it had been seen that day.
Does the site have any wildlife highlights at other tunes of the year?
@@AShotOfWildlife mostly for the butterflies Liam although I have photographed Garden warblers, Roe Deer, Greater Spotted Woodpecker and you do get a good range of passerines through the year.
Great video 😊
I saw my first peacock butterfly this year 🤩
what a great video
Lovely video, would have been helpful to have the names labelled on screen whilst you were showing them :)
An amateur you may be???, but that was another stunning video; thanks
Thanks Tony!
Glad you passed your test and drive now, you’re interesting to listen to, is zoology what’s taught you about wildlife?
I’ve always loved wildlife but the zoology degree did help to increase my knowledge :)
A lot of Nymphalidae 👍👍👍

Cheers.
Lost: oh well!
Hi please help. Just found a peacock butterfly in my house He’s very dormant what should I do ????

You are not giving full information about each butterfly and the type of caterpillars to look out for
