Not trying to be rude here Steve but I think your comment about tightening the packer nut not being rocket science was "next level". Did you consider the guy may have been intimidated, knowing if he touched it he would cause damage to the handle or maybe he figured if something broke or it started leaking worse when it was being tightened you would be there to handle it. Hey look, I like watching your videos and I'm not trying to be a jerk but sometimes you come off as being a little too harsh. You got to remember that these people who call you for help may lack in common sense and may not be mechanically inclined like some of us are. They are calling your for your help not criticism. You're a very talented man, Steve. Your troubleshooting skill is next to none..
Yeah I was thinking the same, no need to be a prick to the customer..
I never cursed or put down a customer if I were the customer and he did thst to me 8 would ask him to leave and call someone else him being good that's no excuse for that
Your paying for an expert, which he is, to help you with your HVAC problems, not lip service. I would never treat my customers that way. It's just not the right thing to do.
Steve you are amazing at what you do but I have to agree with these guys. You don’t need to be a dick.
That Persian rug in the basement in front of the steam boiler is just next level classy. 🧐
Great job of chasing down electrical low voltage problem. My Weil-McClain gas boiler is 40 years old and still running fine. Do my own service yearly before start up.
Very good job been doing commercial HVAC and residential for 40 years you do a good job very thorough
Very good job, Steve, that was definitely was one of your best service calls. Good job as always.
Let’s get this thing running first guy 😂
I love these videos- the cooking tips are priceless too
You're the man! You know very well those systems in & out. Other technicians would feel intimidated with so many issues happening at the same time 👍💯
I didn’t read through comments but, dampers in vent usually are there when 2 appliances are sharing the same stack to keep draft in the chimney and not the other idle appliance
Steve !! Love the videos !!! The mass accent is the best !! I’m a Boston boy service tech you are the best UA-camr out there !! Keep up the awesome videos !!
You don’t hold back with your rude comments. But you definitely get your point across and at the end when you get the unit running they don’t seem to mind. That’s fuckin funny!
Awsome diagnostic and repair!
You are a funny funny guy Steve, you make me laugh all the time why did you say you’ll be making me laugh man for real?
Shining like you have 150yrs of experience steve 😆 great job this was a cool one. Thanks cant wait to see another God Bless
No that's jed clampett
As a tech I chuckle everytime he starts with the bad language right in front of the customer. Wish i had that ability
He’s the owner and only person. So…he can do that
Truth, I only get to that point at 2 am after 23 hours of running and 187 minutes of sleep. Then I revert to a machine; "make sure the stat is calling and gtfo of my way."
Learn 'em up Steve
They are making chemicals for boilers that are non-corrosive. Dad just got some for Our Water Stove.
Steve. You’re a ledge. Been watching your videos all weekend long.
Certified and bonified mechanic!!!!! Haha, love it!!
u tube certifications on the bathroom wall!!
It looks like the incessant Bluon ads are back but so is the Grinch.
zip it homeowner, Steve O is workin' again mama!
Great troubleshooting STEVE
Hi Steve. Wonder if his pigtail was clogged up too? I clean my steam boiler each year and do what you just did with the sight glass and valves as well as the pig tail. I also put in a boiler cleaner through the pressure relief valve opening. Figured this boiler hasn't been serviced in a few years to say the least. Thanks for the video.
Guy's not a rocket scientist 🙄😒
He should have cleaned the pigtail but he's not really a steam guy. He should have immediately put the pressuretrol at its lowest setting. And he should have fixed the damper of course.
@@pb7379-j2k I live in the Northeast where there are still many steam systems. My long time plumber told me that about 90% of the automatic dampers are locked open where I live. He said they malfunction a great deal and conveys the option to replace of lock in place to the homeowner. When quotes the replacement cost, just about every homeowner opts to lock in place.
@@kevin7151 I live in the NE where there is a steam system in my house. 100% of the automatic dampers are operational in my house. Even the one from the 90s that was on my old boiler.
@@pb7379-j2k I live on Long Island. Boiler is 22 years old (Burnham SIN7), my damper went out about 10 years ago. You have the good fortune that yours still works as intended. This aside, I service my boiler and have few issues other than the damper. Hope you have had favorable experiences with your own. Lastly, am hoping mine last 10-15 more years, so that I dont have to replace before I move out to a warmer climate
Doing the funky chicken
Pro diagnosis Steve on point.
Instead of the salt system. The homeowner could get a MANOR DUO WATER SOFTENER + TASTE FILTER
Replace it every 6 months and he would not have hard water. Plus better taste. Have Steve install it one day. He did one a little bit ago. On video.
From Nuvo H2O. Not cheap but cheaper and much less heavier.
Nice job! @3:35 the switch went on, @28:27 @28:54 & @33:16 the light was shining brightly! Yeeeehaaa!
Ahh chasin' voltage. Makes my brain hurt sometimes, but it can separate the men from the boys! A former boss of mine always wanted to make the tech interview process just a timed, field-wired low-volt circuit w/ safeties etc. F resumes, gimme a meter and a problem. 👍👍good show, keep 'em comin.
Good work getting that up and running - love to Miss Molly
I would love more steam boiler videos if possible
"it's not rocket science guy, simple shit!" haha you make me laugh
Steve's the man I'm learning with every video
Excellent Steve ,thanks
There seems to be a lot of nuisance trips of spill switches on steam boilers
Looks like the electrical engineer "RE-ENGINEERED" it.
Never understood why customers put up with bad language and getting belittled.
this is why you are the man!
Im almost fell out of my chair laughing when u told the guy its not F'N rocket science guy. Sometimes u just have those days
He needs to drain the site glass at least once a month.
I'm sitting here drinking a cup of coffee laughing my ars off with Steve. Love the N. Eastern Banter back and forth. Steve has to be a good person the way he loves on Miss Molly. Can't understand why there are so many boiler systems up north?
forced hot air blows! love that radiant floor heat
Because we have so many old houses and also because forced air is horrible.
Amazing Steve. Yous the man
Steve that is so dangerous leaving a safety jumped out
nothing like a well running steam system!!!
Lol
32:00..
This is a glass.... * burp *..
I like to order a glass urrpp please...
Rotf lmao!!!
Lol ... love ya steve...
You're the best man...
Haàa haa when the water starts doing the funky chicken. You will have heat...
You're brutal Steve...cuttin the guy off when he wants to explain something 🤨🤯
Lol! I thought that too! Then again, you get some customers that just launch in to babble: You: "Is the switch on?" Customer: "Yea I was gonna check the switch but then my step brother called and told me about the latest family issues lemme tell you about them and I can't move very fast since I had my hip replacement surgery and the doctor said..." If you politely let them go on you'd waste a $1000 day stuck on a simple "no heat" $200 call that could be solved in 20 minutes
if he know what he was doing he wouldn't be calling me in to fix it would he ..
Great! Don’t see steam so much, but curious. Less chance of freezing? I’m guessing a condensate return, but I’m clueless.
Steam requires no circulator pump so it was put in before pumps (or even electricity) was available. Steam works and is comfortable and it's a PITA to convert to hot water, so steam remains in many homes.
I bet everyone in the comments gonna hate and say go watch pipe doctor channel for steam boilers… good repair
Did you know the Pipe Doctor legally has to stay away from children because of his kiddy-porn conviction? He served time, Google it.
@@davidnull5590 Wow, thanks. After confirming what you stated, I just unsubbed from him after being a sub for one week.
Those dampers were made by a company named Effical,,the damper would open but the switch in the damper would fail,,worked on many of these dampers,,,all they did was raise the efficiency of the boiler,,,leave it open and disconnect power to it,,cheaper for the customer
Nice work Steve!
is it just me, or is Steve starting to sound like Bugs Bunny? Love it!
Thank you to Hartford Steam Boiler for "The Hartford Loop"
It doesn't do anything
A buddy of mine was going to BU and renting a place on Commonwealth Ave with a couple of other college buds. One day the heat went out so they decided to go down to the basement and fuck around with the steam boiler. They couldn’t see any water in the sight glass so they opened the feeder valve and stood around waiting for it to fill. When the relief valve blew open two of them ran the hell out of the basement and left my buddy there to fend for himself! Turns out the sight glass was already beyond full and they thought it was empty, so they all got douched!
Man Steven, you earned your $$ like every time but boy this time you needed more lol
Hey Steve and Miss Molly! Workin’ again y’all. 👍👍
Steve, did you ever try pulling the gauge glass valve stem rather than disassemble the whole glass etc? You can then use the glass protection rod to shove in there and clear it. Less risk of breaking the glass that way.
Brilliant
Boston area electrical engineers are some of the greatest in the world, but don’t let one anywhere near your steam boiler controls. 😂🤣😅
Steve's favorite new word lol
Steve's the Topman !! love the Funky Chicken !!!!!!
I love Steve…. Are you on the same page as me? 😂
Joe the homeowner strikes again , hey Steve
You never know what's ahead especially if someone put boiler seal in the system
Miss Molly is a sweetheart. What a great partner!
Hey Steve, I had a call where the people were wondering why it was raining in the basement, they tried filling the steam boiler and it wasn't showing in the glass tube, so they thought ohhh just leave it open. LoL!
I worked in a bakery for years . One time i had a idiot mess with our steam boiler. Opened manual feed for flushing. Then left. Pop off blew. Flooded upstairs. No damage just water. The real bitch was replacing that safety valve. It was like 2 and a half inch. Thing was like $500. Lol. Boss was pissed. I warned him. Let idiots blow the boiler down.
Doin the funky chicken Steve
??????? ☀️
Miss Molly on the job again!!
The Finnegan pin is misaligned Steve.
Thx.
Great video
Wow no blowdown for the glass and LWC...
Nice job, Steve! How many guys could come out and troubleshoot something like that?
It's not most people's specialty
👏👏👍👍
He doesn't sound like He is very Handy with Mechanical stuff or He thinks He is to Good to try.
This guy called 30 plumbers and only got one response? Dang, everyone is busy
Why would a house have steam instead of water? Just replacing what was originally there? I can't imagine people are putting steam boilers in new houses.
Nobody is putting in new steam. Definitely a replacement
Because steam is very good heating. I just installed a new steam boiler in my house last year.
@@pb7379-j2k Steam heat is nice. Did you replace a existing unit or install a new system? I'm just curious because I haven't seen a whole new steam system installation.
@@dcrog69 Just the boiler and surrounding piping. You'd really have to be a steam fan to install new steam pipes in an existing house.
@@pb7379-j2k Ya that's what I was thinking.
You can buy just the fields motor for cheap money.
Welllll dogie
It's time for another food video
It would be Nice to have Jed Clampet's money.
18:27...
Was that a rat?????!!!!!!!
Don’t see you working on steam boilers often Steve
i like steam. simple.
Left hand folks weight never get a drp stop
Hi Steve
flush that steamer bro
It's not rocket science guy lol 😆
that was kweer
you breath loud steve u wearing a mask
I HATE STEAM SYSTEMS. It is 100% on if it is 40 f or 0 f. Very dirty and PITA.
He does know what he is doing and seems smart but where was he raised to have the mouth that he does.....must have been a really bad neighborhood.....he is smart at what he does but when he speaks you think the opposite.....you judge people by the words they use....foul mouth is not smart language.....just saying......
Its not rocket science guy, its simple shit!
Why can’t you just pipe the entire house with cast iron. That way no freeze ups. Cast iron won’t burst.
SURE CAST IRON WILL FREEZE AND BURST .....WHAT PLANET ARE YOU FROM ??
Cast iron elbows and pipe break rite in half when there in freezing temperatures
.all materials will freeze and break
@@stevenlavimoniere hell yeah 😆😅🤣😂
He must be from Uranus. He’s an anal-yst.
@@picklerix6162 LOL! Well played.
I love the troubleshooting but not the profanity and the lack of patiences around the customer
Hello Steve!
What Joe home owner couldn't tighten up a packing nut after you told him how. I hope you charged him
It's all Greek to me...I'm sure he effed up the wires..I wouldn't admit that either...actually, 😏 I wouldn't even touch it
'don't ya know in Wisconsin we don't have packing nuts, did I mention I'm from Wisconsin at least several times ' .
UPDATE! Hey Steve didn't know the history on this bozo , he's history with me now!!
check out Mikey Pipes UA-cam videos he does a lot of steam boilers and has a lot of great teaching videos! Bet that pigtail is clogged keeping the feeder from working and that low water cutout is probably clogged as well!!
He doesn’t like him lol
Says Jed Clampett...
Mikey pipes is a steam amateur…. You want to watch a steam master check out gordon schweizer
Did you know the Pipe Doctor legally has to stay away from children because of his kiddy-porn conviction? He served time, Google it.
@@davidnull5590 didn't know anything about it but hes gone from my line-up on UA-cam now, Thanks!! I never really cared for his mouth or gutter humor but didn't realize he was that sleazy!!
