I think it may be easier to understand women because, in general, our pitch is naturally higher and we use more pitch variation. There are definitely men who are more expressive with more vocal variety, but there are also those who are not. I think it would be helpful to train your ear to listen for different pitch levels in men's speech. Start out by simply listening for the different pitch levels (this video explains the levels: ua-cam.com/video/AED6n4bEqEE/v-deo.html). Then see if you can identify which words are stressed more than the rest. I also encourage you to ask yourself the questions in this video to try and understand why you may have trouble understanding: ua-cam.com/video/JrpVRZIoPqc/v-deo.html

After searching Google, I found this: W1, W2, and W3 are for words that are in the top 1000, 2000 and 3000 most frequent words in written English, and S1, S2, and S3 are for the top 1000, 2000 and 3000 most frequent words in spoken English.
The most difficult to me at assiting clients by phone is that, sometimes they had never red the policy and get upset because I can not just refund the ticket. I really want to know how to handle this awkward situations and be polite and solid avoidind say which part of I cannot refund it you did not understand. You know the balance between be a little rude but no too much
We tend to use indirect, softer speech in these situations. It's usually helpful to acknowledge how the other person is feeling, saying something like "I understand why you feel this way" or "I understand why you're concerned about this." Most people will be more open to the negative result if they feel like you've "heard" their concern. From there, you have to start with "Unfortunately" and state the situation simply: "Unfortunately, this is the policy and I'm not able to issue a refund." The reason people keep pushing is because sometimes that works and they get what they want. Try repeating something like "I know that this is frustrating, but this is the policy and we can't issue refunds in this situation," slightly changing the words each time. Of course, you might not be able to use language like this, in which case you should definitely check with your employer.
