I love how this chapter went. Shoji subtly showing his drive or one of his drives to be hero. It's like that thing where they suffered the same, but instead of taking Spinner's side and biting back against society, Shoji chose to protect others no matter what he had been dealt with so that those kind of hardships he had to undergo could lessen in the world.

The most fucked up chapter? Buddy, everyone knows that Violence is accepted in a child like Anime, as long as it isn't sexual. When it gets sexual for MHA, the Twitter shitheads comes. Violence that happens in MHA where a minor is injured, bloodied, broken their bones to the point of no repair and leaves scars, forced to be a Vigilante, forced to fight for the safety of others, might even be forced to KILL as implied in some Heroes' backstory, is completely fine. As long as it isn't sexual. Because Violence is not an abuse in Americans' society. Sexual is. Because that's what they deemed to be correct. Hooray for Violence! LOL

Its actually not surprising that people were feared with the mutations. It was stated that at the start of quirks people were afraid. I mean if you think about it this is an anime version of X-men.
@@kennethsatria6607 i can argue that the x-men is where the rise of quirks actually started and the dawn of quirks is when the mutants started growing in numbers and started fighting back against the society until they reached this 200 years later.
Finally Shoji the most underrated character is getting a chance to shine. I feel like if anyone can really change most people's view on mutants it would be Shoji. Something like a Martian Luthor King kind of vibe or something.
I dont think underrated is the right word. He was never used so he kinda had nothing to rate him to. Shame so many students arent getting material until now. Jirou, Shoji, Mina, Aoyami...
I have a theory for what's happening to Spinner. Back right after the Internships ended, All Might told Midoriya about All For One. He mentioned that when All For One gave quirks to people, it wasn't always a good thing. They ran the risk of becoming brain dead because their bodies couldn't handle the quirk. That's probably what's happening to Spinner.
@@TheJarlath9 yup. That's exactly how it works. And it looks like the quirk put in him is Gigantomachia's. Which implies maybe that's how Gigantomachia became so incapable of thought.
except, the nomu state only happens when someone is given more quirks than they can handle. 2 quirks is safe for the average person,it's only after 2 that you go brain dead, with some exceptions who can handle more quirks
Goes to show how much the brighter the light of the symbol of peace cast the longer the shadows grows and fester by the light. We still don’t know how other countries treat the mutant and quirkless people since they don’t have their own symbols but ranking heroes.
Tbh it just makes me wary of people from the country side. I have family that comes from rural areas. Their views can be VERY backwards at times. And its not until their kids engage in the city/modern life that they once made fun of that they realize how pointless the bigotry their parents had them grow up on was. Granted, there are plenty of rural folk who don't have this mentality, but theres something about growing in harsh environments that make you way more tribal than rationally necessary.
The mutant hate should of been explored MUCH sooner tbh- Izuku could of spent time with all of his classmates over time (like free time events from danganronpa) Not spend time with em all at once but over the seasons- Like he goes out to a café with Mina, working out with kiri for examples

This isn't just a jab to racism, but also to people who dislike people with defects and physical/mental deficiencies. This chapter focuses on people with deficiencies more than races because people don't care or understand why the defected beings look like.
I mean, it would make sense if Oboro was still alive in some capacity. Unless adding more quirks killed him while he was at the hospital, there's no way he would be able to convey he knew he went to the hospital if he were dead.
I think Oboro was the best nomu because of his strong will. He was a hero in training with a strong will to live, so that may have influenced the Nomu strength. Heroes actually train their quirks under controlled environments. Other nomus were made from criminals and nobodies.
Yeah and also if PPL think that kurogiri is so intelligent and advanced even though he was created very long ago so I will say that kurogiri was created by enhancing only his quirk while other brain-dead nomus are created by having many enhanced quirk that is why high end is the most advanced nomu who is intelligent and independent while having a lot of quirks and good regeneration
So for the thing with nezu, I'd say look towards TMNT. Nezu is still technically a mutation in the MHA world like how TMNT are in theirs. They were simple turtles that mutated from the ooze. Nezu was probably mutated from something similar
Hopefully in the anime they either add in some of the heros backstory throughout the series... or have filler episodes explaining different hero's backstory. This would help shoji and edgeshot be more connected with audience and make moment like this and earlier more dramatic.
Shoji is also the one that lost his "hand" in the earlier season right? Then all his friends went a little crazy. i think we'll see the interaction and relationship he built with class 1A will be part of solving this.
This is by far the one of the best chapters of MHA because they focused on the consequences and history of commonfolk. I like the world-building in this chapter, idk.
I like this chapter. I normally find these kinds of side stories distracting when it’s happening during the final battle with the main character against the main antagonist in other manga. But I really like that they gave this backstory to Shoji. I never really considered him to have that kind of origin. That’s probably the real reason he wears a mask all the time.🤯it’s all making sense. He wears it because he used to be persecuted for being a mutant. I’m surprised I didn’t see it coming
@@rossjones8656 I mean yeah, they’re probably actually focusing on his arms when they’re discriminating him. But if he chose to cover that up, then he probably wouldn’t think about joining the hero profession. I assume he still covers up his face to remove one less thing to discriminate him for. The fact that he wears a mask constantly would make people try to interpret what he looks like and they might just assume he has a normal face underneath the mask.
Coming from an African-American, who also has a visual disability you definitely notice the way people treat you. I don’t always have the vision to see peoples facial expressions and less of a close, but I have heard of studies where people would walk around with pairs of dark glasses, and canes, completely able to see. They were actually pretty surprised at how many odd looks. They got. The people who followed them out of pity or distrust. It really is a thing. but to keep this short, thanks for channels like this. I don’t always have the vision to read the manga, and I usually have to specifically stick to English dubs so that I can combine the vision I have with English dialogue. always appreciate people who are able to get discussions started about the good, and the bad when it comes to anime like this
Brother , The only that matters is that honor and good character because Honor and good characters never disintegrates from other's abusive action or even after death . It is build upon your morality, tenacity and hardwork. You are also one of them.
Bro I was thinking this same thing and it’s cause cause in the weeb world. These nerdy ppl still hate us but will say discrimination against mutants is wrong. But refuse to see that this is what this metaphor is about
Feel like Kurogiri is the perfect Nomu because it was easier for them to create him. As far as we know, he only has 1 Quirk: Warp. The other Nomi’s all have multiple quirks and they have to find a way to get them to blend well and become stabile. Since Kurogiri has 1 quirk it’s easier to focus on his creation.
Maybe the reason kurogiri was more advanced than the other high end nomu is because he was active for so long and as a result time to develop that intelligence and personality
it's crazy how this chapter has mirrored how our society is. It was a great chapter that could've been explored sooner but it's great that it's being explored nevertheless. Especially in a society that it's so hard to cross boundaries such as this and be able to speak about these things.

Great video, would like to point out that your comment about the Star Wars references is based on non-official translations, the Viz translation states "The 6/6 Incident" and "The Great Jeda Purge" instead. So on first reading I didn't even notice it as a star wars reference until much later.
If true, it makes sense AFO would be (in some way) partly responsible for those massacres. He's had he's hand in almost everything in the main series, in two of the (semi-canon?) films, a lot of the side stories (canon and non-canon), and even most of everything in the vigilantes prequel series as well. Heck, I wouldn't be surprise (too much) if he had things arranged to distract all the heroes (including All Might and Endeavor) in order for him to get to Shiggy, Dabi and No. Six before any of them could get to them and even to better lure in Nine to him.
And note: This would STILL NOT EXCUSE the people that ignored Shiggy when he was a child seeking help. It would NOT EXCUSE Endeavor for his abuse toward Dabi (much less their whole family). And Hero Society would STILL be at fault for setting up such an atmosphere, including what shown it this chapter. (And that would include All Might, Endeavor, and anyone from the HPSC - which would also include Hawks and Lady Nagant as well.) But it would show that AFO took advantage of the bad set up of Hero Society and arranged things to make things worse for his own needs.
God damn shoji… Makes ya wonder why he didn’t say anything of this after the first war At the hospital… where everyone was demanding answers, wish he said something Missed potential tbh :(
No way this isn't dark enough. It just should have been introduced wayyyyyy sooner instead of in the background not being spoken about just hinted at with spinner
I think this moment with Sogi was hinted a bit in the movie Heroes Raising. Kimera, one of Nine's allies had him by the troat he said that his appearance probably made him get bullied by others.
If AFO did help to instigate or participate in the early mutant attacks, in the hopes that one day he could take advantage of the anger of the oppressed to take over, not only would he be one of the most diabolical characters in manga but also one of the most far-seeing characters.

Mha would have been MUCH better if they touched on these topics from earlier as people would take it alot more seriously as it makes perfect sense and it is kinda strange that this is shown at the end of the series when there are so many mutant quirk users
SHOJI PAST THEORY When he was younger he didn't really have too many issues with showing his face, aside from some people occasionally making fun of him, but one day his appearance scared a little girl (we already know this), so some radical anti-mutant human villains came to the "rescue" and beat him, Shoji couldn't do anything because he didn't really know how to fully use his quirk, then in order to make his face even scarier-looking as some sorta punishment, they sliced his mouth*, but a hero that was nearby rescued Shoji and defeated the villains- and since the hero himself was a mutant, this was what inspired Shoji to become a hero to save not just other mutants like him, but also any human with any kinda quirk This incident was also what led other people living in his same hometown to believe mutants are dangerous freaks, so not only did Shoji have to deal with all the insults and stones thrown at him, but he was also forced to go and live somewhere else *given how Shoji never reveals his face even in front of his closest friends, this could also mean he was captured, brought somewhere and tortured, and he never really recovered from that ptsd, both physically and mentally
This is what Horikoshi needed to explore more with his series. But I don't blame him bc this is an entire story by itself. The racism, the fear, the hate groups, the panic. The early days of Quirks and the age before the hero profession was created. Bc development regarding the topic of anything that can change society as a whole and altering it's course in the future is the single most compelling part of the story and lore. The fact there is prejudice towards people with Mutation type quirks is so damn interesting. How did I'd start? When did the fear surface? What was it like for the first person to have a mutant quirk? Horikoshi ever does another spin off like he did with Vigilantes. He needs to set it to just when quirks were becoming more frequent in people and go from there.
I think he wanted to tell a specific story with specific themes, so he didn’t really touch too much on the mutant quirk discrimination because it would’ve been it’s own story and it’s too big of a theme to introduce without making the entire story partially about it. He’s touching on it now because with this kind of setting it’s inevitably going to happen based on human nature. I wish he touched on this sooner, possibly even making Shoji a much more important character, but I think he had other ideas he wanted to explore more so I don’t entirely blame him either. Better late than never I guess.
As someone who loves shoji’s design from the beginning(I really love his character and imagine that he would give the best hugs shut up.) it’s amazing to see his backstory and finally give this character more depth. Once again, I can see why ya don’t like him but accept the fact that I deeply love his character and his design.
Not really sure that this was a secret though. The aspect of hero society that looked down and discriminated against mutant quirks has been seen or brought a minimum of once in every arc.
Dude, I’ve been dying to see shoji and koda’s fight since dabi’s defeat so I’ve been enduring the main fight to finally see this chapter and I’m crying from happiness😊
I really hope Oboro is alive. I can only imagine what that would do for Aizawa and present mic and his character could bring so much to the show. I love that they are bringing Shoji's story to the forefront.
Was kurogi the only nomu that was made from a hero? (Potential hero) I only remember the other ones being criminals .so maybe using the heros sense of selflessness and sacrifice and channel that to only be for shigaraki?
Yeah and also if PPL think that kurogiri is so intelligent and advanced even though he was created very long ago so I will say that kurogiri was created by enhancing only his quirk while other brain-dead nomus are created by having many enhanced quirk that is why high end is the most advanced nomu who is intelligent and independent while having a lot of quirks and good regeneration
I’d call shiggy/AFO All For Shiggy. But the reason I think Kuro is the best nomu cuz not only was he made from the living, he wasn’t given like 5 quirks. By that I mean I think the body could only handle one quirk and combining more in a body tends to start mentally and physically break the person. And they didn’t shove a second quirk in kuro he just made Shirl’s quirk evolve cuz if you noticed the warp quirk seems cloud like.
I think Kurogiri is most perfected high end because he’s the oldest. Meaning that they have done more experiments on him though the years making him better with each one. So he didn’t start off as a more prefect high end be slowly became one all for one hopes to finish him
I don't remember correctly but arent there a few high end nomus still on the loose? After watching the new anime episode it kinda gave me some thought, that these high end nomus are clearly extremely dangerous especially with eraser head having to focus on shigaraki. Who would be capable of taking them down when the top heros are already dealing with All for one and shigaraki?
I think the Doctor and All for one made Kurogiri by accident from a living Shirokuma. (Honestly I think the Doctor and AFO don't know what they are doing).
The discrimination against anthropomorphic quirks has been ever present in MHA, but this was the chapter when the dark truth has been revealed. Mutants are hated and the hero association covered it up. Hero association is responsible for the current situation. Their insistence on hiding the dirt and promoting shining heroes led to all the villains being born. Instead of using Allmight justice as a blueprint for heroes, they created a broken house of cards. If Deku and co don’t do something about the association after the war I’ll be extremely disappointed.
MHA covering dark topics is probably best for the series imo. Most of MHA's fans are now either in their mid-late teens or are young adults. It only makes sense to go this dark as it keeps the audience engaged.
Aren't Tokoyami, Shoji and Ojiro considered the same class (mutant)? I mean Tokoyami's a mutant bird. One could argue the same for Froppy/Tsuyu as well, even though she looks human she's got mutant traits. Yet Tsu and Toko never had an issue (that we know of) or that we have yet to see. My point is maybe it's more-so prejudice against 'not so pretty' looking mutants. 🤔 Even though the principal isn't human you would still think there would be an issue there as well.
I actually really love the change in Mha when I first started getting into Mha I was like where is the grey area in this series? No Society is perfect and for it to be like heroes are good and villains are bad would have been a little disappointing.
Villains are bad and heroes are good. Regardless of what it’s shonen and your comment clearly shows u don’t read enough to know that in every shonen everything gets explained or shown towards the end
@@goddessyamato5238 oh I know that things get explained later on in shonen there are very evil villains and really powerful heroes what I meant is that now mha has expanded on the characters as a whole like the characters aren't flat straight up black and white like how in jojo's there isn't a lot of explanation of why the villains are they way they are (earlier parts)

Still think Horikoshi has to explore and explain the origin of quirks. I've always thought this manga would last far longer and explaining quirks to their origin would be how it would end, but as it seems Horikoshi plans to end it in Deku's first academia year... Maybe a future spin off, I hope
Honestly this should’ve been in a long time ago cause the dark parts of society were one of the few plot points that were interesting to me and they could’ve expanded so much from it and add so much more worldbuilding. Just throwing it at the tail end of the series I feel it’s way too late to get invested in that plot point and the characters at this point
My Hero Academia goes full "Summer of Peace" with "Mutant Lives Matter"... Even down to Shoji being called a race traitor for trying to stop the violence (and possibly even down to the people feeding the riotous rage being the same ones that set it up years prior in order to create this moment so they could seize power and discredit their opponents).
Anime suggestion: Record of Ragnarok To sum it up it’s about the fight between humans and god as if the humans lose they will be wiped off of the world It’s a anime I think you’ll like
I don't like what happens to Spinner here. I don't feel like his role as a "hero of mutants" is something that was earned or he felt about because it either to my memory rarely came up or at all. He was just some guy who idolized Stain to the point of cosplay. Unlike of members of TLoV he barely did or contributed a thing to the story. He even gets his own agency removed due to AfO. It's still depressing how rushed this series is and I'm only continuing to subscribe in reading it just to see how it all ends despite my grievances. He's not even a favorite of mine just a flaw I've noticed because it's so apparent. Same deal with this whole mutants racism. This is a good potential for an arc for the tension and character building for many of them to deal with. It would make what is currently going on more impact impactful as we the audience would not only have something to draw back on aside from real life but it would have set this up instead of coming out of nowhere and set up by a throwaway line from AfO. I just don't understand why the author wants to end this so suddenly. It's kind of a shame.
I absolutely agree that I wish they would have explored this topic further by this point in the story. I feel like mixing it in with the war arc, does an injustice to the severity of the content. Could have taken a few pages from One Piece, Fishman Island arc/parts of Sabaody Archipelago arc. That’s just IMHO.
In my own personal opinion chapter 370 is full of good ideas like the muntet quirk type discrimination with would have been a really cool thing to have implemented throughout the story. Like if we got to see places we're people with muntut quirks we're treated unfairly would have given this chapter more context then coming out of nowhere in my opinion. Also I would like to know more about thar spider faced guy there are so many interesting villains but we barely know anything about them. Also I am glad that shoji is getting a little more character development. These are my options
Shoji is best character. I knew it before the backstory reveal. You don't make a character like that without going through some shit. Signs were all there painted in dang neon. Completely lackluster room = not wanting anything to tie him down. Hardly ever talked = not wanting anything used against him. Constant sacrifice of bodily harm to save friends and civilians = utter and complete devotion to everything a hero stands for. People always give Deku credit for breaking his body to pieces... but Shoji doesn't have plot armor to survive some of the shit he's put his body in the way of. As in, he had nothing but his body, and the guy never hesitates even once. People talk about Deku reacting to situations faster than anyone, but Shoji was the first to react against Kurogiri in the first villain attack while Iida was making a break for it. And he was the one able to save a student from their marble prison because he gets his job done. He ALWAYS gets his job done. The guy never loses, because he is JUST as insanely devoted to herodom as Deku. He was always the best character and they waited till the very end to give a damn about him. I'm happy he's finally getting some screen time, but I'm not happy it took so long. The series sacrificed a lot to make Deku the star of the universe. There is a reality where the series doesn't abandon the majority of its cast for dozens of chapters just to sell volumes for hype. A reality where the magic of the series is kept and grounded by giving a steady and varied view of all its cast memebers and makes you bond with each and every one of them. They had that. Then they didn't. Now the series is trying to play catch-up on what it lost out on and... I'm still not sure I should be bothered to spend the energy to see it happen. Am I being too negative? Am I wrong?
This chapter is all about abnormalities because of the difference between Humans and Mutants. Mutants are born with abnormality of there appearance, because of that there difference to Humans and they called them like "Monsters". As they all know Humans don't like their looks and appearance because they look creepy to them. Fortunately, I know some other Humans are very friendly to the Mutants. Because it's not about their appearance it's about they're friendly, and they want to treat them equally, they may have creepy looks, but they're living creatures like Humans.
This isn't the darkest, its pretty on par with the series. The very concept of the Nomu is extremely disturbing. Kurogiri is a reanimated corpse, Machia is a walking natural disaster, most Nomu are brain dead killing machines, and the High Ends are literally the worst of the worst of the Quirk criminal community made even stronger. Shigaraki was a child molded into a hate filled killing machine for the sole purpose of being transformed into a vessel designed to contain AFO,OFA and New Order. Which would be all controlled by AFO himself.
I mean I'm not surprised. A lot of people treated Deku poorly when he was Quirkless. People being bigots because of the way you look due to your Quirk is unsurprising. I mean we have creature rejectionist clans out there. So yeah good for MHA for covering it in this chapter.
Shoji backstory remind me touma from a certain magical index his dad told him in the village he had the same as him but in the manga is dead explain to him the adults do way more just throwing rocks and try to kill them otherwise one man was in terrible debt grab a knife and try to stabbing him the quarterly made up a story fell in a cliff that shows how messed up these people are so the only option is parents taking School full of espers people abilities it's normal but the difference between him and shoji touma lost memory to him the opportunity to become a hero but Shoji he still have painful memories he got the faces card to prove it but he still continue being a hero
How curious that villain called the Order 66 from Star Wars. In Clone Wars was revealed that the clones had implanted a chip that forced them to obey the order, meaning that they knew they won't do it. Some managed to refuse the order or take their chips out and so were hunted and killed by literally their brothers, considered traitors. The mutants think other people think they are animals, but here they are acting as such.

This chapter made shoji one of my favorite characters, his story and the theme hit on a personal level.

Mha would have been MUCH better if they touched on these topics from earlier as people would take it alot more seriously as it makes perfect sense and it is kinda strange that this is shown at the end of the series when there are so many mutant quirk users
SHOJI PAST THEORY
When he was younger he didn't really have too many issues with showing his face, aside from some people occasionally making fun of him, but one day his appearance scared a little girl (we already know this), so some radical anti-mutant human villains came to the "rescue" and beat him, Shoji couldn't do anything because he didn't really know how to fully use his quirk, then in order to make his face even scarier-looking as some sorta punishment, they sliced his mouth*, but a hero that was nearby rescued Shoji and defeated the villains- and since the hero himself was a mutant, this was what inspired Shoji to become a hero to save not just other mutants like him, but also any human with any kinda quirk
This incident was also what led other people living in his same hometown to believe mutants are dangerous freaks, so not only did Shoji have to deal with all the insults and stones thrown at him, but he was also forced to go and live somewhere else
*given how Shoji never reveals his face even in front of his closest friends, this could also mean he was captured, brought somewhere and tortured, and he never really recovered from that ptsd, both physically and mentally
The point is Nezu does not look human
Not really sure that this was a secret though. The aspect of hero society that looked down and discriminated against mutant quirks has been seen or brought a minimum of once in every arc.

But the reason I think Kuro is the best nomu cuz not only was he made from the living, he wasn’t given like 5 quirks. By that I mean I think the body could only handle one quirk and combining more in a body tends to start mentally and physically break the person.

Shoji's face first made me think of a super angry Gojo from Jujutsu Kaisen

Has everyone from class 1A gotten a back story? These sad and great at the same time
No. And at this point it’s pretty much too late now considering it’s the tail end of the series for them to really matter now
My Hero Academia goes full "Summer of Peace" with "Mutant Lives Matter"...
Even down to Shoji being called a race traitor for trying to stop the violence (and possibly even down to the people feeding the riotous rage being the same ones that set it up years prior in order to create this moment so they could seize power and discredit their opponents).

Shoji and Tokoyami are my two favourite characters
My man Shoji is finally getting some real attention.
I absolutely agree that I wish they would have explored this topic further by this point in the story. I feel like mixing it in with the war arc, does an injustice to the severity of the content.

In my own personal opinion chapter 370 is full of good ideas like the muntet quirk type discrimination with would have been a really cool thing to have implemented throughout the story.
Does kurogiri have more than one quirk? If not that could be why he has more intelligence.
Please make video on hashira ranking in demon slayer , From weakest to strongest with explanation plz
Huh, how very interesting, i wonder how things will go from here.
Why was Nezo even introduced as an Animal with a quirk in the first place when we have never see any other Animals with quirks?
Nezo is like 3 or 4 animals in one body hahaha
I mean there is the cat that has a quirk to become a bus from the spin off
This chapter made me appreciate Shoji even more! He is a true hero!
WOW! A mostly peaceful protest in MHA? Where did the inspiration for this come from?
Always love your video! very informative for us geeks.🤣🤣😁😁
I mean I'm not surprised. A lot of people treated Deku poorly when he was Quirkless. People being bigots because of the way you look due to your Quirk is unsurprising. I mean we have creature rejectionist clans out there. So yeah good for MHA for covering it in this chapter.
It’s a shame really that majority of humans at their lowest are a race of spiteful cowards
I want to read the index manga, but I'm not sure where to start, what chapter should I read after the second season of the anime?
My chickens are good bois
please we need to discuss latest chapter of jjk and 4 knight of apocalypse, I've been waiting for a while now
How curious that villain called the Order 66 from Star Wars.
